"You can read Ivanka’s inane musings below, but they’re not the real point. She turned 43 on October 30."

"There is no reason to post this thread on November 4, the night before Election Day, other than to emphasize that she’s not even thinking about Donald Trump’s reelection bid. Ivanka basically found a way to tell her dad, 'I really don’t care, do U?' via Twitter thread, rather than donning an ugly jacket...."

Writes Margaret Hartmann in New York Magazine, reacting to Ivanka's stoicism-studded thread on X.

What's up with Ivanka? Who knows? She was the favored child, it always seemed, or at least the favored daughter. Maybe you're wondering Should I care? Just consult Marcus Aurelius — "You have power over your mind—not outside events" — or Epictetus — "Anyone capable of angering you becomes your master."

So what if she posts her millennial-inflected beliefs on her birthday? The woman has been forced-thru the political ringer. Wonder if this journalist has had her life and her marriage turned upside down by frequent mocking from the media, significant upheaval from numerous court-proceedings facing her family due to lawfare, and constant public disdain and outright hatred from progressive-liberals. Nope of course not. Very profitable for big media to shower contempt and spew hatred on Trump and his children, without ever considering the human consequences.

Ivanka has small children, likely wants to shelter them as best possible. I note that Trump's adult children are far more successful individuals, seem to love and support their father, and decent parents to their own children. Biden's own two troubled delinquent adult-kids are both embarrassment and indictment of Joe's and Jill's poor parenting and poor moral guidance to their children.

So the whole point of the article was to copy & paste Ivanka's thread, and add Trump Derangement frosting to help show how much the author knows about things? What a waste of clicks. The Intelligencer should change its name, as a matter of consumer protection.

What crap from an ugly writing woman. Ivanka’s birthday was in the last week so being busy and/or reflecting on what she wrote about are real reasons why she would post on Nov 4th. Ugly writing woman isn’t a mind reader…

“Inane musings”? Ivanka quotes lessons from some of the world’s master philosophers.

She's jealous that Ivanka is beautiful, rich and has a great family. Something she will NEVER understand, whilst she hates on everybody who isn't like her.

Her husband negotiated the Abraham Accords, probably the most significant agreement toward Middle East peace in our lifetimes. As a reward the press savaged him, Democrats threatened him with jail time, and for good measure he was lumped in as a Nazi for supporting his father in law. I'm not surprised at all that Ivanka and Jared are sitting this one out. If someone took literal shots at my father I might opt out of campaigning too.

OTOH we heard a lot of "Melania is not on board this time" BS right up until she made a very public endorsement of her husband. So I take any alleged "reporting" on Trump's family with a boulder-sized grain of salt.

Ivanka is beautiful. Why won't that creep Anna Wintour put Ivanka on the cover or inside the glossy mag?
Oh right- Anna Wintour is a democrat hack. Ivanka used to have a nice line of clothing. She was essentially forced to give that up. Now she is very wealthy - and doesn't need any of that. But perhaps she is a bit destroyed by the left.
Remember - the corrupt modern left live to punish and destroy.

Inane? Good Lord! This author (like most of the rest of the “media”) just shills for the unitary and cashes a check.

If she doesn’t like the way Ivanka looks or apparently feels right now, maybe she should consider the fact that Ivanka has a good life, Donald does to and doesn’t need to do the job of President of the US, but he’s doing it for love of the country… and maybe, just maybe, Invanka is considering how close she came to losing her father in Butler, PA.

By the way, will we ever find out anything about that guy (the dead shooter?). Why not? WTF seriously..

Yeah it felt like the author just chose the word because of the negative emotional feeling of the word rather than the actual meaning. One could say that the platitudes come off as banal, but banal is not the same as inane. Probably just a case of Orange Man Bad and Daughter of Orange Man Bad Too.

Lazarus म्हणाले...

If you want to "bring us together," a lot of what you say will be banal or will be seen as banal. A lot of what one learns about life will also sound banal because so many people have learned the same things about life as they grow older. But is any of that "inane"? Does talking about time-honored life lessons mean a rejection of involvement in present-day public affairs? I think it's more of a unifying "whatever happens, whatever side you're on, here are some things to bear in mind," something we all could make use of today.

Pointer to all, though: next time, be a little cautious when some celeb posts her life lessons and hold back on calling them "inane." I don't know what else I could possibly say about Gwyneth Paltrow, but I now feel obligated to strike that word from my vocabulary.

I remember the 2016 Republican convention, when Ivanka took the stage. How normal she looked! How healthy and happy and beautiful. She was the perfect hostess. Least you could have done was include a definition. My HS graduating class was 1/3 Jewish, and many of friends, therefore, were Jewish, and I had never heard it. Lashon hara is a Hebrew term that refers to speech that is harmful or negative about a person, even if it is true.

Should she be obsessing about the election? It was election eve. The die has been cast, pretty much anything that could be done has been done. I doubt a frantic last-minute tweet would get out any new votes.

I think this list of things to think about that don't involve politics is a lot healthier. It could also be that the campaign's own polling is very favorable and her posting something personal instead of political reflects the ease she is feeling.

A lot of people won't remember the organized shunning that went of in DC last time Trump was elected. It was an understood, collective slight: Trump newcomers had difficulty finding housing arrangements, and were not invited to join the cocktail and social circuits, which is the norm. Like any society, a lot of the business of running things gets done in social settings, golf games, cocktail parties, fundraisers, etc. If nothing else, the whole commonplace pave-the-way exchanges toward getting meetings set up, planning efforts, and so on.

But none of that happened. Trump people were outsiders, and they were kept outside by being treated as social outcasts by the DC Establishment.

And it didn't stop there, either. I'm sure many here can recall the public attacks, Republicans dining together being run out of restaurants - more accurately 'hounded'. Or being chased by a mob and beaten, left bloody and unconscious in the street, for the sin of wearing a red hat in public.

I thought this was a pretty good essay on the capacity for unfairness that has blossomed under this toxic, party-driven Progressive madness.

This is actually a shrewd (and subtle) campaign move to help her father. After all, how could Hitler raise a daughter who has so many good things to say and has her head screwed on right?

The point is, Ivanka is a class act who made a good-faith effort to support her father in politics, and has been attacked and vilified for doing no more than that. No wonder she has no time or attention for those people. They are much worse than you think: That's what Ivanka is telling us.
