Why didn't the NYT publish this report before the election?

I'm reading "The Hidden Truth Linking the Broken Border to Your Online Shopping Cart/The incoming Trump administration promises an immigration crackdown. But for years, the on-demand economy has been fueled by unscrupulous staffing agencies exploiting migrant workers."

This would have been useful to voters. Too useful, I suspect. This issue seems to have been suppressed, papered over by Trump-is-a-racist rhetoric. "Hidden truth," indeed.

Why didn’t the NYT publish this is a rhetorical question

The same argument is used all the time about agriculture workers.

The left likes to dress it up, but the base reality is they like having an exploited underclass do the country's dirty work for very little money.

Everyone knows the Regime was just trying to import a new round of slaves. They haven't really changed much over the centuries.

It was obvious to anyone that actually reviewed the BLS data. It isn’t so much that the NYT didn’t report it. It is that the NYT claimed those pointing to the truth were being racist or stating disinformation rather than factually quoting BLS data. That was all the information fit to print for the NYT readers.

It's getting really tiresome to watch centrists just realize answers that were obvious decades ago. If you want to know why the massive MAGA base is ready for President Trump to answer lawfare with warfare, this is the reason.

The hidden truth that Mob-Biden regime let in millions of illegals.
The hidden truth that they forced tax payers to pay for it all - without their permission.

Too speculative to predict with any confidence, but I could imagine an outcome where the loss of these exploited illegals will make it a bit harder for online merchants to out-compete brick-and-mortar stores on price. I'm thinking that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Lots of Venezuelans doing Amazon delivery out there.

Btw. The judge took 15 minutes to find Jose Ibarra, the illegal alien, guilty of all charges. Ibarra killed the Nursing School student here in Athens GA.

What a Gordian Knot Trump has tied. If he doesn't deport he lets down a majority of Americans. If he does deport we see runaway inflation.

If you take these immigrants away or if you radically reduce the value of the USD, productivity in the U.S. will go straight down.

Pushing out immigrants is going to be a very painful experiment for the U.S. if it turns out to be anything more than an election ploy.

Then told them they could have an hour recess before he passed sentence.

Kakistocracy said...

As long as you’re willing to pay the true price of enforcing immigration integrity. But so far the GOP have been the main ones balking at that price.

So what we find out is that the democrats are the racists and exploiters. They bring in illegal aliens and then get them to do their grunt work like slaves.

Tina Trent said...

Yeah, hidden. At every restaurant, building, or grocery job I’ve held for forty years, the illegals show up after hours to polish floor, restock, do framing, or just be line cooks.

That’s why I always hated that loser Anthony Bourdain. He used to brag about hiring illegals — easier on the budget and the tax bill. So we were subsidizing every meal served at his restaurants, which we couldn’t afford.

Trump got elected and is setting up an attack-dog AG. It's every man for himself now. It's times like these you find out that common thieves have more honor than journalists and politicos.

Typical short memory problem.

Let's talk about who let the immigration system fail. Do you remember the 2000s? George Bush? Comprehensive immigration reform? Requiring E-verification federally? Do you remember it failing to pass because of lack of support from Republicans? Our system could have been shored up and working much better if not for Republicans deference to big business. Let's talk about 2024, again Republicans tanked their own bill. Totally unserious.

It should have been two minutes, but good enough. That’s a damn hard circuit to get any conviction in. Really hard — you literally need a damaged dead person and perfect forsensics, or forget it. They have let scores of men walk over the years. And they’re a radical sanctuary county.

I guess he desecrated her body enough for the Karens to see their daughters in her. Too bad it’s come to that. My dog will kill anyone who approaches me in a threatening way. He knows my unconscious better than I do. Since escaping a serial killer, I have always relied on dogs. I have a backup gun but lack the eyesight and pure kill instinct. And the ability to spontaneously tear someone’s throat out.

Possibly. Midsummer Mysteries is helpful.

I listened to the JD Vance interview on the NYT Daily podcast, maybe back in October. The interviewer was explicit about how difficult it would be to find workers if a new Trump administration followed through with its deportation promises. Vance did a great job responding that this was the point - to make available jobs for Americans, even at higher wages, which have lately been done at below market wages by alien workers. The interviewer seemed shocked that someone would prefer national (and citizen) interests over market advantages for contractors, hoteliers, farmers, and big business in general. I chuckled at the time, thinking the interviewer would make a pretty good traditional Republican businessman. So NYT's saying it out loud now, isn't really far off-message from its pre-election obliviousness.

Tina Trent said...

The 2024 bill was bullshit. I totally agree with you viz Bush One and have said so repeatedly on this thread. In fact, I mainly blame him, but both parties have used it to their advantage. See my views on Rubio. Don’t assume. Keep up.

Gee, $100 for a pair of yoga pants. I think that company can afford to hire Americans and it won't kill them to take an extra day to ship.

JD Vance talked about this during his Rogan interview. He said he talked to a major corporation CEO that flat out admitted it,

Sickening. Do Democrats not understand that this, or something similar, is the fate of most of the people entering our country illegally?

I don’t know if we’re thinking of the same interview, but a clueless female interviewer asked JD how the Trump administration proposed to build houses without (illegal) immigrants. He started by accepting her premise, then compared the present with the 1960s, and there was hardly any immigration so no houses were built back in the 1960s. Then he lowered the boom, making a foolish female interviewer look very foolish indeed. As with the Naomi Beinart post above, I have no problem with women competing with men, but for Heaven’s sake don’t ask foolish questions or do foolish things. (Yeah, liberal men are often foolish, too.)

I always wonder why the appeal is always towards racism instead of human rights or fair labor practices. It lets the people most responsible completely off the hook and allows them to continue the status quo.

Let’s punish the slave masters instead of the slaves. I’m more concerned with the american citizens who are stealing and eating our pets.

Just saying "no it won't" doesn't make your statement true. Can you explain how deporting 12 or 25 million people (whatever number Trump is pulling out of ass today) will not cause inflation to rise. You do realize that your glorious supply and demand also applies to the labor market.

And we are not just deporting "Biden's illegals", Trump wants to deport all immigrants he considers unlawful, including those here on TPS, along with U.S. citizens (like those pesky children who are U.S.-born children of undocumented immigrants).
