So the French press wasn't really telling the truth about how much support Macron's policies actually had. Imagine how bad the results would have been had he waited another month to call elections.

Energy and green laws have hurt many citizens. The refusal of Macron to understand is what lead voters for Le Pen

They continue to use far-right as an epithet thus weakening what it really means. The immigration France has been seeing in the past decade has done more to destroy what we know of Europe than anything proposed by the National Rally.

NYT's habitual use of the qualifying phrase far-right informs the intelligent observer much more about the quality of journalism practiced by the New York Times than any person, organization, publication, or opinion NYT characterizes as far-right.

Except for the UK where feckless “conservatives” showed a complete inability to run the government and were rejected, or more precisely ejected, from office. Labor has filled the vacuum, but perhaps the UK is ahead of us in doing what is necessary to remind the party elites to do their job or get out of the way.

Deals are being cut between Macron and the even further left parties to have, in voting districts where the Le Pen party candidate ended in first place in the first round, 3rd place finishers drop out so the second place finisher behind the Le Pen first round winner can overtake.

If you read the article without any knowledge of the situation it just seems like the French people are going crazy. They are no longer supporting Macron's Centrism and supporting these far right nut balls.
But if you know what is going on it makes more sense.
Centrist Party Stands for:
War in Africa.
War in Ukraine.
French Subordination to Globlism/European Union
Unlimited immgration
Massive immigrant crime
Punishing people who make immigrants mad
Far Right party stands for:
Last 50 years of French culture
Supporting the French working class
Limited immigration of non-integrated muslim populations.
And the "Far-Right" National Rally is actually borderline socialist as far as social spending and support for high taxes and redistribution of wealth to working class people.

They just figured out what the point of the "Conservative" party was. The Tories were just globalist shills meant to lie to the voters who wanted certain things.
The Tories did exactly the same thing the Republican Party did in the US. Exactly the same pattern. Exactly the same betrayal.
Farage is just taking a different path than Trump did because of the electoral system.
Macron will make common cause with all of the non-NR parties for the run-off elections. I predict NR comes up short next weekend. NR needs lots of three-way races to win a majority in the Assembly and I predict all of the opposition parties will work together to make all of the races two-way.

Macron now will follow the strategy Spain's current PM employed and sell out to France's far left in an effort to secure a majority. May God save France.
444 candidates of the RN have reached the second round on Sunday; I believe this is a record high for them. 289 vote are a majority in the Assemblée nationale.
Nigel Farage's new party seems to be picking up steam and I think this can only help. He thinks he will have the votes to be PM by 26 or 27.
The British PM is appointed by the King. I wonder if King Chuck would be able to clench his teeth tightly enough to appoint Farage if he has the votes? Or would he quietly send word through back channels "Naaaaah. I don't think so. Send someone else"
It is supposed to be a rubber stamp, the king is not supposed to have any discretion in who he appoints. But he does hold the rubber stamp and can refuse to exercise it.
On top of that, the position of PM has no official legal basis in Great Britain. It was a made up position a couple centuries ago. Could Chuck just say, "I don't think I will appoint a PM. Let's just muddle along without one and see how it goes"
I've been fan of Farage for 15 years or so. He is kind of like a Donald Trump with less shyness and more willingness to speak his mind.
