Well of course the Daily Least has to spin it. How about if we stipulate that McConnell and Biden and Feinstein are all cognitively impaired due to age issues. Fetterman is cognitively impaired, period.
Will our public discourse ever become less oblivious to the absurdity of its partisanship? On its face, the gerontocracy problem isn't left or right wing. Yet, today, were we to poll leftist 'thought leaders',we would discover that precious few see the declining physical and mental capacity of our leaders to be troubling. Flip the parties to a hypothetically gaga Republican president, and the results would reverse.
Too many people see themselves as combatants in a domestic cold war, and all is fair in war. There aren't rules, anymore. What could change that? I dunno.
PS The dementia thing may be an act to cop a diminshed capacity plea. Hess tried it at Nuremberg. Vinny the Chin tried the dodge back in the 90s. Calling Biden decrepit may be giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
They are all decrepit old cold warriors who have been scratching each other's backs for fifty years. "Glitch" McConnell and Joe Biden are both part of this club. They would rather fight WW3 than lift up the rock hiding Biden's corruption.
As a matter of realpolitik, he should step down as leader, but keep his seat.
McConnell should withdraw from his leadership position but not from the Senate. Kentucky has a Democrat governor and would fill the vacancy with a Democrat. Being half brain dead is hardly a disqualification from being a Senator. Biden is decrepit, McConnell is getting there, Diane Feinstein has been there for some time.
Remember when journalists used to have to go ask people questions to find out what they were thinking? What a pain in the ass that was. Journalisming is so much easier now that Progs have perfected these new mind reading techniques.
McConnell should resign. That's obvious. The fact that no Democrat is calling for his resignation is more a function of their acceptance of Biden, Feinstein, Fetterman, et al. than of their tolerance of age related debilities.....People don't readily surrender power. Even the blessed RBG, whose saintliness was so reminiscent of Mother Theresa, had trouble recognizing that it was time for her to go. I know that some very old people function very well, but many do not and, worse yet, they do not recognize that they've lost it. The sustenance of the people around them depends on their continued stay in office so the aged can't look to their posse for feedback in this area.....This is genuinely a bilateral problem, but, for obvious reasons, don't expect Biden or Trump to highlight the problem.
Why should McConnell's condition have anything to do with Biden and discussing his health? Is Ingraham that afraid of the response "Well, what about ...?"
I notice Democrats never seem to be concerned with that.
Term limits for senators would be good, along with age limits or ten year tenure for supreme court justices, and even limits on company directors overstaying in their roles have advantages.
George Washington voluntarily gave up command of the Army after the revolution. He voluntarily gave up the Presidency after two terms. For people who want an original understanding, it doesn’t get any more original.
Of course, the Democrats would find a federal judge to give Beshear the power to appoint a replacement, and it would take time for the courts to finally make the right decision.
A religious... ethical dilemma for those with a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mindset.. Planned Parent/hood or Planned Politicianhood for all people... persons who match the viability of baby in legal and rational state, perhaps. In many cases, the Chief of Staff and the Staff the legislators are the ones running things for the donors and party leaders, and the elected meat sack just shows up to fundraise, get on camera on the floor, vote on things as directed, and talk to the news media.
Here's to DiFi and Turtle Mitch and Malarkey Joe and all the others who are letting the mask slip on the reality of the federal government in the US these days. Or rather, the complete fraud of it all.

All the pre-Boomers in DC are decrepit. After all they are all over 77. You have to live a good, non-corrupt life to age well. That leaves out the high-flying DC crowd.
As for McConnell, he may still be quite able to continue as a Senator, with the deliberative job, but likely should step down as leader since that is a quick on your feet type job. The president's job is however, not something you can be slow and indecisive in.
"Not true- the legislature chooses the Senator, not the governor."
Actually, the executive committee of the vacating Senator's party submits three names to the Governor from which he selects one.
Which gives a statutory role to a political party that does not align with my opinion of the power that a political party is entitled to, for what that's worth.
"a) The Governor shall fill vacancies in the office of United States Senator by appointment and the appointee shall serve until a successor has been elected and qualified under subsection (2), (3), (4), or (5) of this section.
(b) The appointee shall be selected from a list of three (3) names submitted by the state executive committee of the same political party as the Senator who held the vacant seat to be filled, shall have been continuously registered as a member of that political party since December 31 of the preceding year, and shall be named within twenty-one (21) days from the date of the list submission."
The seat belongs to the people of Kentucky, not to the Republican Party.
To the MSM Left, everything is about Attacking conservatives and Republicans they don't like. They don't care about the Country, principles, or good government.
They like McConnell, he's a good loser. And plays ball with Biden. So they don't care if he's incapable of doing his job.
Another example of the only Leftwing principle: Just win baby, just win.
McConnell should resign, since his value to average right-leaning voters (who may/may not be registered Republicans) is nil given the number of times he's screwed us over. I suspect though that he can't unless he wants to find numerous knives buried in his back, the first of which would be via his Chinese wife.
McConnell could resign as Minority Leader but still remain to serve out his term. That job is too important to be filled by somebody who fades out all the time. He could still vote.
I cracked up when I heard Biden's comment about his talk with McConnell post-event: "He sounded like his old self" McConnell should just follow the same tactic Feinstein and Fetterman do: No Press Conferences.

Mc Connell should resign as Majority Leader but he is just fine compared to Feinstein and that weirdo from Pennsylvainia.

Memo to Ingraham,
Drop the decrepit. Substitute criminal.
Sincerely,
All honest people

The difference between some of us and Progressives....we can call them BOTH Decrepit and mean it. No ideology here.

"Ingraham wants..."

They should both resign. But I don't see any uniparty people to take their place that are worth a shit.
Why give such inane stuff any attention? Do you link an article just because it was written?

In fairness to McConnell, he doesn't have the nuclear buttons under his control. His decrepitude isn't a danger to the country.
"Kentucky has a Democrat governor and would fill the vacancy with a Democrat."
Not true- the legislature chooses the Senator, not the governor. This was changed a couple of years ago.
Of course, the Democrats would find a federal judge to give Beshear the power to appoint a replacement, and it would take time for the courts to finally make the right decision.
I would personally support an amendment to the constitution saying no one may be elected or appointed to a federal position over the age of 65.

Political DNR - If brain dead, Do Not Re-elect.
You have to really not know your subject if you think there's any great love among the Republican masses for Mitch McConnell
some conservative commentators are dorks.
As Michael K suggests, McConnell should resign as leader but stay and finish his term, if his constituents will have him.
That website is geared toward juvenile Marxists, and low-IQ ones at that.
However, Mitch has got to go...I've been saying this for the past few years.
He was great on judges, even though Kavanaugh turned out to be mostly a dud.
But what have you done for me lately?
Let Biden work things out with his favorite cabinet member, “Secretary Booty Juice”.

Michael K is right. He should step down as majority leader, but at this point there’s no reason for him to resign from the senate.

It is all about Ingraham in this request of hers.

Grassley and Leahy could set good examples by hanging it up, even though they’re not yet decrepit.

Are these people really in charge or have their staffs grown so powerful, that these politicians simply do as they are told.
McConnell could resign as Minority Leader but still remain to serve out his term. That job is too important to be filled by somebody who fades out all the time. He could still vote.

I bet it didn't cost the DNC much to have them run that headline.
“Gerontocracy” and “patriarchy” are the most basic types of authority. They're not going anywhere.
Seems like good suggestion >> to resign leadership and remain senator.
Mandatory retirement age of 70.
Maximum TOTAL years on government payroll, of ANY KIND, 20 years.

I'd say he should resign as leader, but remain in the Senate. Unfortunately, he'd go full McCain and be a pain in the ass to everyone.
