rhhardin said...: Listening to Ravel's Sonatine, I was surprised that I seemed to know every note, and I was disappointed that the performer failed to emphasize a particular voice here and there. Did I use to play it? At most I just practiced it, it's a pretty tough piece. Also I may have typed it in to the play music program I had running on a PDP-11/30 around 1980, which would account for its familiarity too. "Proofhearing" what was typed in involves a lot of score-following to find the particular texts that go with the wrong segments.; 5/15/23, 8:36 PM

madAsHell said...: I live near a big Seattle park, and sometimes the parking lots are full of homeless RVs. What's really unbelievable is the junk these homeless people carry!!

I mean......they park, and within 24 hours there is a valence of junk surrounding these RVs. Some of it is garbage, but a lot of it is yard furniture stolen from the surrounding neighborhood.

Recently, the city has stepped up efforts to remove the RVs

All that Russia wanted was for the people of Crimea and Donbas to be allowed to conduct their business in Russian, as they have for 200 years, and for Ukraine to be non-aligned, and Joe Biden would not pick up the phone. This week Medaille announced it's closing it's doors. Declining enrollment/ financial issues have been identified as the cause. Or, to put more bluntly, Covid, the gift that keeps on giving.
