From "Harry and Meghan series, likely to anger British royals, drops on Netflix" (WaPo).
That quote is at the end of the article, which has just 2 more lines:
She described how the royals’ “formality on the outside carried on to the inside.”
This is a developing story.
It's breaking news? Presumably there will be updates. About what, you wonder? About other things to be found in this 6-part Netflix documentary that just — as they say — "dropped."
ADDED: I don't believe for one minute that an American-based "hugger" doesn't understand that not everyone accepts being hugged on first meeting. It may be more disturbing for some "Brits," but she well knew that Kate and William weren't just random Brits. They are people who expect special deference. It you want to deny them that, that's your business, but don't expect us to believe you just didn't know, you're just brimming with hugginess, and that's American. Maybe that plays more believably to Brits, who might think we Americans are mindlessly casual. Maybe we are, but we're not ignoramuses.

There are plenty of Americans who would be pretty damm upset at being hugged on first introduction.
This chick needs to learn about personal boundaries.
Princess Gold Digger Fame whore knew exactly what she was doing. Read REVENGE, by Tom Bower. She was always a conniving little bitch. She dumped her own family, the father who raised her, whilst her black mother was a drug using hippie. Now, because she is using RACE to blame on everything, her black mother is the only family she speaks to. She is the TYPICAL Progressive. I can't wait until King Charles takes away their titles. She will be screaming about how RACIST that is soon. Harry is a dope. He doesn't even see that she is using him, and will dump him soon enough. Pussy whipped.
"we're not ignoramuses"
Really?
Many of "us" are happy to act as if, as demonstrated by Meghan's celebrity.
Does Netflix have any redeeming value? Anything?
People hurt their feelings. Stay tuned. This is a developing story.
"I don't believe for one minute that an American-based "hugger" doesn't understand that not everyone accepts being hugged on first meeting."
I can believe it depending on who the person is, and whether or not that person is egomaniacal trash.

Ah, but counterpoint -- suppose we're talking about a vapid ignoramus here. Would that also be consistent with the evidence? I think it's quite possible she's just a pretty face and nothing more (for both good and ill).
1. Some people have a different and nuanced inner life and some don't. Reagan was reputed to be what he was on the surface, and nothing more. He was an actor (e.g., empty vessel for fictional characters) before he was President. Everyone reported that Queen Elizabeth II was pretty much identical in all contexts -- raised to be the queen and spending 24/7 in that role embeds a certain sameness.
2. Meghan is also a professional actor...empty vessel in search of fame and power and glory and adoration. Harry is the dead-end second son of the prior royal generation. Prince William had his sons so Harry literally has no further value in royal succession. (In centuries past, competitors for a throne were often killed or forcibly exiled.) He's got to find something to talk about and some way to earn a living. So, Netflix chit-chat is better than nothing. Fill the time, get decent ratings, get paid, repeat. Maybe we should offer Harry and Meghan a parade and throw rose petals before them. They'd feel accepted and special that way. Forget the non-royal everyone else who receive no attention, own nothing, and "are happy" per old Klaus Schwab.
Will no one rid us of these attention whores and drama queens by canceling their shows, podcasts, photo shoots, etc.?
And then move on to the Kardashians?
Don't care about the order, just get to canceling please.
In ages past the sidelined prince schemed how he could kill his rivals and take over. Rarely did it bring long term success, but rather it brought destruction.
Cain killed the first heir to the throne after all.
So we shouldn't be surprised in a modern age, where killing the heir isn't viable that the destruction of the throne itself becomes the goal. If Harry can't have it. He'll undermine and destroy it.
My wife is guilty of royalty fondling not just hugging. She is half Brit and engrossed in all things royal. We had an opportunity to meet Prince Edward a few years ago. We got all of the protocol instructions- basically no touching stuff. He was mingling in a room of about 50 people. We despaired of meeting him because it was a battle scene to get near him and we are very quiet people.
We were on the verge of giving up when, lo and behold, I turned around and he is alone right behind me. My innate and until then repressed internal royalty must have sprung into action. “Good evening sir” I said. “Let me introduce my wife. Her father was in the merchant marine during the war and met your mother”. My wife turned around, her glasses fogged up and she was gobsmacked and speechless. The next thing I see is her rubbing his shoulder rather forcefully as if he was a friend and he, in response, he had this look of horror on his face and his security guy comes over to extricate him from this maniacal American woman.
I think she is now in an MI5 list. I promised her I would never mention this story to anyone so don’t tell her I told you.
I wonder if Meghan tried hugging the Queen. Or Prince Andrew?
Indiscriminate huggers are usually bullies, in my experience, the physical touching without permission or any indication of a willingness can make it even more likely to occur, as a way to establish control and make the huggee uncomfortable.
Meghan is the American version of Sarah Ferguson. The Royal Family has survived her, I don't think it's going to crumble because of anything Meghan and Harry say.

Re: Owen:

Aren't the Kardashians quite popular? And Americans have long had a soft spot for the British monarchy. An American adventuress Becky Sharping her way into the royal family sounds like good, farcical entertainment. There's lots of reasons why, at least on paper, this would seem like a pretty good bet. The extrinsic drama of Harry quite possibly blowing up his relationships with all his closest family members over a bit of tattle for cash also adds some tabloid appeal.
Aggressive huggers are seemingly passive as they spread awkward discomfort to the shy and reserved.
I'm affectionate with friends, but people who hug upon first meeting give me the creeps.
Hugnoramus- one who lacks awareness of the impact of hugginess.
Seen on Twitter:
Æthelstan for the win
"I am so bored of the Harry and Meghan shenanigans. In happier times Harry would have raised an army against the King, with William meeting him somewhere in Leicestershire where Harry would have died in battle, his body never found, and Meghan would have ended up in a convent."
Aside from the hugging, she is meeting the Prince and Princess of England for the first time, having invited them for dinner, and she greets them barefoot and wearing ripped jeans? No class at best, a deliberate "f*ck you" at worst.
She's not a freaking royal for God sake. She's an attention whore. She expects deference/ Oh wait...
Who meets "Will & Kate" in ripped blue jeans and barefoot?
She's starting off the relationship with Harry's brother and his wife with an "FU" kind of attitude. She deliberately set the stage for a dismissive attitude and she wonders why there were issues moving forward?
I bet anyone meeting her for the first time who tried to embrace her would be rebuked.
"Maybe we are, but we're not ignoramuses."
This assertion relies on facts not in evidence.
I'm more disturbed that anyone would want to hug those two worthless narcissistic oafs.
The Duck and Douchess of Sussex. Bleh! Let's all wait outside their hotel and give them a big hug.
Netflix. Bleh! No organization on the planet does more today to promote gun violence and the irresponsible use of firearms.
I'm just shocked that Harry and Meghan think this will make them look good. Yes, they've got their money, but they've thoroughly burned their bridges in the UK and this kind of gossip about family will not endear them to anyone else. I hope the money was worth it.
Maybe they should just push it up their bottoms.
The only royal family in my world: Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
"I didn’t realize that is really jarring for a lot of Brits."
Jarring for me too who is not British.
I didn’t realize that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.
Send her to a cultural diversity workshop.
When someone tells me they're a hugger, I feel it's incumbent on me to let them know I'm a biter, so they can make an informed decision on how to proceed.
If Americans are not ignorant, explain Fetterman and Joe. I know Joe cheated and all, but still he got some votes.
My boss's boss is an Israeli lady from Nahariya. When she came to our office to check up on us, she bounced around, hugged every person, in turn. Me she did not offer to hug, not even offer to shake hands; she was completely friendly but could tell I don't like it, I guess. I was awed by her sensitivity.

Megan is an abusive person. She clearly delights in causing other people emotional pain.
She knew exactly what she was doing.
It's too forward even in America to hug people one doesn't already know well and/or with whom one has no close and affectionate relationships.
She is an amazing grifter.
Btw, I never knew she is 'black' until I read it somewhere.
I'm sure she has faced massive discrimination because of her very dark skin.
She looks to be fair-skinned Hispanic or Italian.
I'm darker than her and I'm a white guy...
Lots of huggers in my family.
When living in Japan I had to make an effort to abstain, even from shaking hands.
When in Rome...
Desperately Seeking Relevance.
Thank you, Jefferson's Revenge. That was delightful.
Will and Kate's pronoun is "her" now?
I suppose it's the same way with Harry and Meghan.
Supposedly there is a segment where Markle relates that she did not realize she would be expected to curtsy upon her first meeting with the queen until the moment was nearly upon her. Sure, curtsying may seem a bit odd to an American, but if I were meeting my future in-laws for the first time and there was something substantially different between their background/culture and mine, I'd damn well give a little thought to learn about their expectations and about how to make a good impression before showing up on their doorstep.
There is another segment where she said that before going to the UK, "most people didn't treat [her] like a black woman." To be honest, I had seen her in Suits and obviously in the press, and I had no idea that she was a black woman until she started accusing people of racism.
Bob Boyd @ 7:45: “ When someone tells me they're a hugger, I feel it's incumbent on me to let them know I'm a biter, so they can make an informed decision on how to proceed.”
Threadwinner!
People used to think Markle was a drama queen and an attention whore.
And they still think it.
You have to wonder why the Windsor family men have such terrible taste in women. Mrs. Simpson, Markle, Charles' current wife (former mistress), etc. They pretty much have the pick of the litter and choose badly.
What's that main character where she's saying "look at me look at me look at me...Stop, don't look?" This is what Harry and Meghan remind me of. "We can't stand to be in the public limelight" they say in their umpteenth public interview. Not buying what they're selling.
I will definitely say that many huggers actually don't realize how jarring it is. As someone who comes from a hugging culture in socal, I had to learn this during my college time in the Chicago suburbs. And I have stories from friends who are huggers about learning this.
The Duck and Douchess of Sussex.
Ladies & gentlemen, please welcome...
Woko Ono!

Meghan seems to be all about drama, so she says and does anything to appear as a naive victim. Being a hugger isn't a congenital condition that occasionally creates social confusion.
Meghan doesn't seem particularly warm, so I doubt she's even a hugger, but she damn well knows that there is a time and place for hugging. Deciding to hug prominent foreigners, who may become in-laws, upon a first meeting, was an aggressive act.
William and Kate are reliably dull. King Charles is mildly irritating, and his romance with Camilla is not stuff of legends. These guys don't provide much mulch for the screenwriters. Meghan & Harry though are genuinely annoying. Viewed in real time, they are not much fun to watch, but some talented screenwriters might make something of their travails. Princess Diane was the star of the previous generation of royals. Maybe Meghan & Harry will be stars of this generation. There's more drama in a mess than in a floral arrangement.....Nowadays that Nazi sympathizing King and his divorcee wife are out of favor, but, at the time, it was considered a great romantic story.
An idea:
When someone says they are a hugger and hugs you, you could give their butt a squeeze and say "I'm a squeezer".
Is this a good idea or a bad idea? Is it a funny idea?
Maybe we are, but we're not ignoramuses.
WE might not be, but Megan demonstrably is.
'When someone says they are a hugger and hugs you, you could give their butt a squeeze and say "I'm a squeezer".'
Or take out your dick and stick it in their mouth and say "I'm Bill Clinton."
Yesterday I read some post over at Insty that referred to Meghan Markle as "Woko Ono".
I have to admit that that made me laugh by myself for a good minute or two, but, then, some days I can be a Very Silly Person.
You have to be of the right age to get the joke.
She is an embarrassment to America.
We're not ignoramuses? OK, let's try that explanation and see how long it survives scrutiny.

Danno - what a beautiful phrase. It sounds lawyerly. I'll have to try to remember it as it seems an ideal response to so many frequent situations.

Test Tube - I don't know that I've ever met anyone who says "I'm a hugger," but if I do I'll try very hard to remember your line. What a great response! And what a memorable memory that will be!
I'll give you another indiscriminate hugger. Old Joe is not only a hugger (and sometimes a digital penetrator) he's a hair sniffer and not beneath copping an occasional feel.
I wouldn't let that clown within 15 feet of one of my daughters.
There is nothing this woman says that can be accepted as true.

Calling her "Woko Ono," while very very funny, is unfortunate, since Yoko doesn't deserve the credit/blame for breaking up the Beatles (as the "Get Back" documentary shows).
Paul Joseph Watson's recent "Idiots" video dissects the trailer and shows the fake tinsel behind these royal dufuses' Netflix show: https://youtu.be/fj3fROxnu8A
The saddest part comes at 3:30, with them in public, sitting side by side somewhere, and Harry looks absolutely defeated, silent, and forced to take her hand because she thought it would make them look better.

Way to combine an insult with normalizing #MeToo.
Even "huggers" have sense enough to not put their hands on strangers. That there are boundaries and things called prior consent.
It's somewhat entertaining to watch old episodes of Deal or No Deal and see ol' Meagan up there handling a case.
She even seems nice. Normal.
Who knew?
Cain killed the first heir to the throne after all.
Cain was the first-born son and thus the heir to Adam and Eve, not Abel. And he did inherit from them, namely their propensity to sin, to the rupture of relations between humanity and God, and between humans.

In the recent book Courtiers, the self-named "Sussex Survivors Squad," people who worked for them, told the author they believed that from the beginning, she intentionally piled up grievances for her planned exit. She's deliberately taking Diana's path of victimhood, just like she sometimes wears similar clothes.
I can't believe the amount of time I've wasted on her antics, but it's interesting comparing her narcissism disorder to my late step-monster's. Harry's going to end up like my father, broke and broken.
Like the female basketball player. Two people I could care less about. And like the Kardashians famous for being stupid.
I can watch any crap. Didn't make this one four minutes.
Some of you are ignoramuses…not naming names, but…
Best of luck with it Keith! Discretion is advised! Glad you liked my take.
I started watching it and my first impression is that these two are boring as fvck. Seriously, not even their status as "celebrities" can disguise that we're dealing with very, very shallow puddles of personality,
I found it strange that Meghan and her supporters refer to Harry quite a bit as "H" or simply "him." Very de-personalized. He really has become a prop in her world - and this documentary is ALL about Meghan, make no mistake.
And . . . is Harry okay? I had never heard him speak candidly but he just came across to me as a sort of simpleton in mannerisms and facial expressions, what I felt was not at the level of maturity I would expect from someone nearly 40 years old. How "minded" was he during his time in the military?
@Sally327 - "Meghan is the American version of Sarah Ferguson".
I think she's much, much worse. Sarah Ferguson was (as we say in English English) a jolly hockey sticks sort of gal, a rather gauche ingenue, who could not quite believe she was to become the Queen's daughter in law, but she was never malevolent. MeGain is however something else altogether. You don't have to be an expert on Royal lineage to realise that if you are marrying the second son of the heir to the throne, you are always going to be a level below the heir and his first son, but so what? There is no justification whatsoever for flouncing off and becoming a full time grievance monger. Sarah Ferguson split from Prince Andrew, and had some resentments against Palace courtiers who let it be known that they sought she was vulgar, but she never amped it up as we are seeing now.
