Biden wants to give $8B to Africa to shut down their coal fired power plants.
A large portion of the country doesn’t have electricity, and thus no refrigeration, and they cook over dung fueled stoves. To deny them the opportunity to develop, through this bribe, is the height of racism. This Biden policy is aimed to keep them down. It’s absolutely shameful, but not unexpected, as the Biden Administration continues it’s virtue signaling with its environmental arrogance.

Guess the book. No internet cheating. First correct answer wins!

"When we pulled out into the winter night and the real snow, our snow, began to stretch out beside us and twinkle against the windows, and the dim lights of small Wisconsin stations moved by, a sharp wild brace came suddenly into the air. We drew in deep breaths of it as we walked back from dinner through the cold vestibules, unutterably aware of our identity with this country for one strange hour, before we melted indistinguishably into it again.

Dark afternoon at the Washington Post too. Leaked video today from a Fred Ryan "townhall" announcing 1st quarter layoffs. WaPo down some 500K subscribers. More "traditional media" layoffs coming as well. Left-wing WaPo staff did not seem very happy their jobs weren't being protected.

This only a year after they cheered the firing and vilification of the unvaccinated. The paradigm is changing and Musk/Twtter 2.0 is ahead of the curve.

It's gonna be a rough ride in 2023 for a lot of people. Today's Fed 0.5% rate hike to curb Biden's and Democrat's inflation is going to hurt. The real freaking out will come when it hits ivory tower liberals...like the ones at traditional media companies.

Trump could do it. I am not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.

True. Which is why there is often opposition from the other party and the American Bar Association when one gets nominated to a US District Court, which handles criminal and civil bench and jury trials.

"The local radio guy was talking about SBF's parents and their behavior in court and said that most law professors haven't spent much time in courtrooms. True?"

Probably. Most cases don't go to trial, and in a big law firm, litigation is handled by a specialized department. Most law professors start their teaching career only a few years after law school.

The way in which it's not true is that they are very likely to have clerked for a judge. But do you count an appellate courtroom in that idea of "courtroom"? And is a clerk who assists a federal district judge counted or did your radio guy mean as a lawyer handling trials in the courtroom?

Anyway, you could say the same thing about most *lawyers* -- they don't spend much time in courtrooms trying cases. It's naive to think they would. In the movies they do. It's always criminal law too.

Jens Stoltenberg [NATO General Secretary] said that he understands why some people in Europe are getting tired of supporting Ukraine as they face rising energy and food prices. But the NATO chief claimed that the continent’s “peace and freedom” would be threatened, if Putin wins in Ukraine.

What is the threat to peace and freedom if Russian speaking regions that had been part of Russia for 200 years revert to Russian control? I just don't see it. I think that the real threat is to neocon plans to dominate the entire globe, and place the WEF in charge of any new projects. So for example, today, if Africa wants to develop its natural gas, of which it has a *lot*, it must first get permission from Europe's financial centers, which is not forthcoming. The gas will stay in the ground, African development will not shake the boot on its neck. This is what is really at stake, they want this kind of control everywhere. It's about global warming, an unproven conjecture which has been elevated by repetition into a threat to the very planet. What cost is too great to save the planet?

Sure, Russia's uncountable trillions in natural resources will be divided up among the cronies of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and many lesser lights, but the real goal is complete control of the world economy, to keep the oil in the ground, and Russia and China are threats to that control, and so both must be defeated. This is the unsaid thing that is worth the risk of nuclear war to the cabal running our country, whoever they are. It's also worth siding with nazis who have a plan to ethnically cleanse an entire country.

One thing is for sure, Russia reconsitituting its former self by gathering up a couple of regions that had always been Russian, and who feel Russian, and welcome them, is no threat to Europe.

Tim in VT: why didn’t those Russian speaking regions revolt against Ukrainian control of its a matter of borderlines or ethnicity? Then Russia could have given support as the “fight” would be about freedom as opposed to force?

I haven’t been as tuned in to this as many: trying to keep our heads ahead of the economic axe &chopping block is enough to deal w/. Energy deficient forages this year means way “down in the tank” as far as production- &the inflationary expenses of fuel, parts, junk feed and all the other ingredients of life on a farm are eating away at savings, margins and verve.

But, by all means…

John "Maverick" McCain was that way. Attack Republicans and his "friends" in the press say "Good Boy!" Then McCain runs for president, and all of his "friends" turn on him. He got exactly what he sowed.

Weird opinion piece in Politico about how the Twitter Files are "falling flat."

Compares it to the "Facebook Files."

What Facebook files? I don't remember any Facebook Files.

The first release — the “Facebook Files” — came in late 2021 from Frances Haugen, a former Facebook employee.

I don't remember anything in the media about how Facebook censored conservatives in the hopes of getting Biden elected. I know it happened. I just dispute that the media covered that story, or that we can trust the media oligarchs with their control of the airwaves.

Musk is baiting mainstream media companies to cover a manufactured scandal about something that happened years ago and it is still not yielding returns.

Years ago!

Donald Trump is ancient history, I guess. Good to know!

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

What would be super interesting -- and I would love to read it -- is an opinion piece in Politico, or any of these liberal rags, that says the fucking opposite of the embarrassing Pravda spin.

Is there nobody in establishment media the least bit embarrassed about that cover-up of the news of the laptop scandal? You know damn well that story was newsworthy. And true!

And instead of acknowledging the truth of the Post's story -- and the dishonest shame of our Pravda media who treated it as a lie -- you run bullshit editorials about how irrelevant it is.

"years ago"

Motherfucker! This was our last election. The media engaged in a massive fraud. Your lies are now exposed as lies. And the person exposed as a criminal -- Hunter Biden -- is still the son of the President of the United States. He's still unindicted, running around free. Like he's not a crackhead whose been using his daddy's name to make millions of dollars.

Why are you ignoring that story? How can you say it's fucking irrelevant whether or not Joe Biden is the "big guy" who takes millions of dollars from his son's sleazy overseas antics? It's unbelievable how shoddy our media is.

Let's make a subtle change in the wording:

One thing is for sure, Germany reconstituting its former self by gathering up a couple of regions that had always been German, and who feel German, and welcome them, is no threat to Europe.

We've seen this play before. Even with his bullshit 'history' (most of these regions had not "always" been Russia until they were conquered, their native populations ejected, and other Russians forcibly moved to resettle the areas in the 18th and 19th centuries, and some in the 20th), Tim is willfully blind to the true danger.

The danger in Ukraine is not some far-fetched fantasy of nuclear war. The danger is a weakened fascist state trying to regain its "glory" and its oft-stated enmity for the rest of Europe and the US. The fact that Tim regurgitates Soviet-era lies as 'history' underscores the blatant dishonesty of Putin's supporters.

They did, farmgirl, in 2014 when this war was kicked off by a US supported coup.

Jaq म्हणाले...

This war has been going on for eight years, ever since the Russian speaking regions rejected the Kiev coup. Imagine if there was a coup in Canada and the western provinces refused to go along, what would result would be a civil war, and if the Ottowa junta was backed by the Russians and was arming them up, and Ottowa was using those weapons to kill western Canadians and to threaten Washington, we would intervene in a heartbeat.

This nonsense that every enemy of our ruling cabal, from Trump to Putin, or even the Canadian truckers, is Hitler, is laughable. It’s amazing that the same stupid trick keeps working. Hitler had an army that conquered Poland in a couple of weeks, rolled through France, which had a serious military. Putin is still stuck in Donbas.

This is a civil war, Kiev wants to drive Russian culture and ethnicity out of the Ukraine, it outlawed Russian as an official language well before this war. The dreams of Ukrainian hyper-nationalism are not our business.
