"Bob, he's a genius. He's like Picasso. He sees the angles and planes in what, for you, is ovoid."

I wrote, discussing Bob Dylan's analysis of "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves."

And then I saw something my son Chris sent me from across the sea, from the coast of Barcelona — a photo:

One dog looks one way, the mutt with the bike looks the other way, and this Picasso guy on the wall is sayin', "Whadda ya want from me?”

Barcelona and Madrid are two beautiful cities horribly marred by graffiti. Vandalism at its worst.

Spain is the France of the [20]20's.

Ann - That very apt photo is excellent in its own right. Likewise, your comment on it.

When the criminals who deface and destroy became known as "graffiti artists" I knew this was a real problem. If we were a serious society, they'd get very stiff prison sentences.

Orwell was so, so right about language manipulation. Inflation Reduction Act my ass.

Not a Cher fan, but GT&T is one of her worst songs.

The photo is really nice.

"Bob, he's a genius."

True. I mean, he made people believe he could sing. That's genius.

Great post, and photo.

I've had the good fortune of visiting Barcelona twice. An amazing city. The artist I most associate with Barcelona is not Picasso, but Miro. And of course, the architect Gaudi.

My favorite Picasso quote: "Inspiration exists, but it must find you working."

Is that a younger Dylan on the bike?

So much in this photo - the balance of reds, blacks, yellows. Picasso’s face mirrored in abstraction on the front side of the building with the sunlit graffiti and the red splash of color. Then there’s the upside down black heart on the pale blue door jamb that echos the eye of the dove. A photo like this you can keep looking at it, making new discoveries.

"Is that a younger Dylan on the bike?"

That's what I thought.

When Chris put it up with a bunch of other photos on Facebook, I wrote: "Nice! I especially like the one with Bob Dylan in front of Picasso."

Ditto.

What's that, a Gypsy, a Tramp and a Thief?

Doubtful...the forks on the bike look too modern for the age of 'Dylan.'

Very interesting photo!

It's not Young Dylan on the bike. The footgear on the bike guy and the young woman in the foreground are of recent vintage. Also the graffiti.

Every time Althouse posts something about Dylan, someone insists on posting a variation of this and thinking it's clever.

The photo was taken by my son Chris this week.

It's really good...many stories one could write with it as a prompt...
