Canada geese demonstrate the confounding difficulty of eating an apple.

The frustration is palpable. I'm no fan of the Canada goose, but it almost makes you want to cut up an apple for them, doesn't it?

Roll them onto roads and wait for a vehicle-based crush.

From every golfer on the planet:

There's a reason these guys eat grass. You do not want a bunch of drunk Canadaian geese flying around with fermented little green apple diarrhea squirting everyone and everything in sight.

Those darn things poop every six minutes. It must be the diet.

I said "I'm no fan of the Canada goose" and I don't need to be reminded why. Yes, they overshit. But let's talk about the effort to eat apples.

It's like the apple-on-a-string game humans play for laughs. But the geese aren't laughing. They don't even realize that we are laughing at them.

They just keep trying the same method. I think they've been trying that for a million years. They never get any ideas about any other way, but they keep trying, the same way over and over.

I feel the gooses pain. I’m in the south and am missing apple season a peck.

Animals, having no real sense of time, can be extraordinarily patient.

Well, if you're a Goose how are going to eat a hard apple? You don't have teeth. You can sorta peck at it, but its too hard.

Plus they roll away. And all you got is your webbed feet and you beak. Probably the only solution is to push it against something and keep stabbing it with your beak, till you break off a piece.

Crows are smarter and have better "tools" available. They'd pick up the apple, fly up a tree, and drop it, or with their sharp beaks peck and tear it. Birds in our neighborhood go after the pears from a massive pear tree. But they wait till the pears are ripe enough.

No. Makes me want roast goose.

I would step on the ones on the ground I didn’t want, and then the chickens would dive in, like when you dropped an egg.

If geese could eat apples, they would be extinct, like the Carolina parrot.

As a golfer, it makes me want to send a pack of Border Collies after them.

A tale of flippers and bills. My dog could educate geese to the former.

The first goose who figures out how to grab the apple in its bill and then drop it onto a rock to break/soften it, in the way of seagulls and clams, will be a legend among the gaggle.

Apples are usually served with pork, not goose.

If it's any consolation today was the opener for the special 14 day Canada Goose season in Illinois. 5 a day.
We depleted the local population by one.

Canada needs to send us better geese.

Well the fox and his wife, without any strife,
cut up the goose with a carving knife.
They never had such a supper in their life,
and the little ones chewed on the bones-o, the bones-o, the bones-o.

Rusty,
In most of New York the early season is the first 25 days of September and the daily limit is 15. I do not know what you would do with two never mind 375.

Why Choose Goose down?
Goose down is chosen for it's luxurious warmth, softness, superior resilience, loft and insulating properties, unmatched by synthetic fills. Goose down and duck down are basically very similar in structure, especially in the lower fill powers.

A: use for home handicraft down products >>>

I'd guess they can eat the apples after they soften and become mushy. The apples get mushy, I mean, not the geese.

Shall we list other things geese cannot eat? I'll start with pears, grapefruit and cantelope. Kliban wrote an entire book titled,"Never Eat Anything Bigger Than Your Head."

Why does it sound like my father's (silent) 8mm home movie camera from the 1950s?

They demonstrate the confounding difficulty of eating an apple in a broader sense that apples are generally frustrating to eat?

Shouldn't it be just theirs? Or well I guess any living thing that normally doesn't eat apples? Apples are pretty easy to eat if their size and hardness are within the range of foods you normally consume.

You stuff the goose with apples immediately before placing it in the oven.
