Best surfers on planet earth. They ride the up draft wind off the waves here in Florida and long lines of them - 6, 7, 8 or more - will surf the updraft from the cresting wave and fly a mile down the beach barely moving their wings at all other than minor feathering adjustments to keep in formation. My constant companions for over over 60 years now - me riding the water and them riding the air from the same wave. https://youtu.be/cEFrSycTvRk
We are just a half hour from Rock Creek State park. Every year pelicans use the small lake there as a migratory lay over. We haven't taken in the sight, but this is the reminder I needed to ask about when that is going to happen. Not as grand as the Sand Hill cranes in Nebraska, but still impressive, I am told.
I've adjusted the light setting so it doesn't come out so bright. It's easy to do and quite useful if you do outdoor photographs of nature. The phone is pre-set to be good at indoor photographs of people.
Thanks, Ann! I take pictures of food and nature, and am behind the curve with my iPhone 6+. I’m reluctant to give up the home button and headphone jack, but the desire for higher quality photos may seal the deal…

You won't miss the home button, and as for the headphone jack, get AirPods. It's much better not to have the wire dangling about. But mine came with wired headphones that plug into connection that you have for the charger.
Love those guys. We take a beach walk just about every day in Texas. One of the joys of it is watching 3-20 of these guys soar over the dunes, over the beach, in between waves or diving like maniacs into the water. I never get tired of it.
The only birds I like better are the Terns, they are really wild.

Which version of iPhone do you have? The resolution and colors of your photos and videos are superb!

Brown or White Pelicans? Brown's are more often associated with oceans, and Whites with lakes, but they can both go both ways.
I didn't realize there were pelicans this far north. In my mind, they're tropical birds, but I was wrong. Now I want to see them!
"Brown or White Pelicans?"
White
