Thinking of funky airports in the tiktok post, I had an allergic reaction when I stepped off the plane in O'Hare in August 2008. It was the only time I've been in the Midwest north of Arkansas, so it may not have been the airport but the local air itself that made me feel miserably ill for 2 hours until I re-boarded.
I watched the German television series Bauhaus. If you liked Babylon Berlin, this could tide you over till the next season comes out.
Now I'm watching season five of Billions. These antihero dramas where social outcasts from pariah groups -- in this case, hedge fund billionaires and leaders of the New York legal establishment -- try to destroy each other are getting tired, but the series does inadvertently give confirmation to suspicions that the climate change thing is all a scheme by Wall Street to make money.
Next up The Optimists, the Cold War as seen from the Russian side.
I don’t know how long you’ve been taking sunrise pictures. Has it been two years? Anyway, I’m not getting tired of them because you keep making them special.
Watched the first episode of "The Lincoln Lawyer.", about a lawyer who drives Lincolns and ended up taking over the practice of another lawyer who was murdered by a hit man. Very good. Directed by David E. Kelley, whose other shows I've always liked. It's on Netflix. One season so far.
"Yet with your business background and your fashion background and your beauty, never on the cover of Vogue. Why the double standard?" Hegseth asked Trump.
Mike, if I recall correctly that's likely from a book series that is related to the Harry Bosch book series. Not sure I remember which spun off from which (I think Harry was the original) but the two crossed characters in a couple of books.
The wife got a text from a friend assisting a relative in the hunt for baby formula, and sent me to the Kroger down the street to check the supply. Granted it was Sunday late pm but holy moley, I haven't seen shelves that empty since the Great TP Shortage of '20 (can we start saying dates that way now? I really wanna be able to talk about what happened in "back in aught-one" when I'm a cranky old guy.) The other thing that surprised me was the explosion in different styles since I was buying it back in 1987. I recall Enfamil and Similac in powdered and condensed form, and maybe generics, but now there is a blizzard of formulas and flavors and organic and multiple brands, all of which were pretty picked over.
I was surprised to discover that the author of this column is a Democrat. In fact, served as Democratic majority leader of the Rhode Island state Senate, a couple decades back. David Carlin puts the Supreme Court's role in the sexual revolution into a perspective. Then he applies the same logic to the ongoing drive for euthanasia and its potential forms.
Quite believable, unfortunately. The drive to radically transform our society has been going so consistently over the last 65-70 years that even many liberals don't realize what they've done. Their success has been remarkable.]
Is it too late to turn back to the Christian virtues that made western civilization so relatively free and unambiguously prosperous? We are already several steps down the next sequence.

1. First comes physician-assisted suicide. 2. Next, voluntary euthanasia, wherein a person asks to be killed or freely accepts a homicidal offer made by family or friends. 3. Then “presumptively voluntary” euthanasia. In this, the family of an incompetent person kills him/her on the assumption that this is what the victim, if competent, would wish. Once we generally accept that people can be put out of their misery without their actual consent, we can move on to involuntary euthanasia. This too will come in stages.

It’s WW3 folks. It looks like we are planning to sacrifice Ukraine’s army in the east to attrit Russian forces, costing tens of thousands of lives, build a new army in the west, and continue the war regardless of Ukrainian losses; blame the coming famine on the Russians and move the focus of the war to economics.
All because our corrupt leadership is salivating at the idea of dividing up the spoils of a victory over Russia. This famine comes on the heels of a pandemic which killed millions caused by research funded by the US that was done in Wuhan because it would have been illegal in the west. Probably the same case with the Ukrainian biolabs that Victoria Nuland admitted to under oath in answer to a throwaway question by Marc Rubio.
So if your question is “are we the baddies?” You decide. There is apparently no going back from this struggle.
We have a historical analogue to the switch from a multi-polar world to a unipolar one, in North America the Indians did okay playing off the English and the French, but once the French were gone, the Indians were fucked. That’s why most of the world is on Russia’s side. Those of you cheering on the escalations, I hope you can ignore the pain that is only getting worse because we sided with Nazis to expand NATO, going back on our word to Gorbachev, when we squandered a chance for peace.
Read it and weep. The Buffalo murderer is no conservative Trump supporter to the chagrin of the lying propaganda media. Will they EVER report the truth?? I highly doubt it, because what would they talk about. https://twitchy.com/sarahd-313035/2022/05/16/tom-elliott-takes-closer-look-at-buffalo-killers-manifesto-and-finds-some-problematic-details-that-throw-big-wrenches-in-lefts-desired-narrative/

You could remake The Treasure of Sierra Madre. You and Meade there.
Wait.. I meant the African Queen.

What a clown show.

Word is Netflix is going to stream it… can’t wait to see it.
Tried to see the eclipse. Saw nothing. Too many clouds, I guess.

The moon was invisible behind the torrential rain clouds yesterday.
Cloud dispersed for us right on time last night--wife got a nice smartphone image of the dusty red glow, which surprised me.
Eclipse in Madison was awesome! Hope all the Madisonians got to observe it. There was even a stellar occultation!

Not here, of course. Ukraine.
