Another day, another $40 billion to Ukraine.

I'd be OK with it if they signed something saying if they win the war they will pay us back with interest in oil, grain, etc.

Other than that, it's just a huge money-laundering operation and everyone in DC is getting rich...

I'm shocked at how ordinary Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh’s house is. It looks like any typical upper-middle class tidy neighborhood suburb to be sure, but I just would've thought something with a tad bit more grandeur to live up the stature and elite-ness of the position. If you're a Supreme Justice, shouldn't your magisterial digs live up to the gravity of your duties? Yet this house we're seeing---the ordinary-ness of it all !! I guess I always assumed, once they took office, they'd move to more cloistered or gated living conditions.

Of course, now with this absurd theater of hooligans chanting, holding vigil, I'm sure the Kavanaughs wish they had indeed moved to a much more remote compound complete with a mote and a drawbridge.

God loves crabby old people with bitterness in their heart JUST as much as GOD loves young people who live in this world as if this world had been created just for them.
Just saying. And yes I know that some people HATE IT when someone says something nice about GOD. But so many people are saying insulting things about GOD these days, I thought I would say something nice. So, one more time: GOD LOVES CRABBY OLD PEOPLE WITH BITTERNESS IN THEIR HEART JUST AS MUCH AS GOD LOVES YOUNG PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THIS WORLD AS IF THIS WORLD HAD BEEN CREATED JUST FOR THEM. As for me, I went to a Denny's yesterday for the first time in 20 years. The menu was loaded with badly presented cheap-meat meals and sugar-addled breakfasts and desserts, but it was nice to be in a Denny's again anyway. I ordered a coffee, a glass of water, and the pot roast sandwich with a side of "seasoned" (one dollar 95 cents extra, compared to the "non-seasoned") fries. None of it was anywhere near worth spending hard-earned money on, except the water, and the water was free.

$40B to Ukraine would be fine if our betters took it out of the petty cash they voted for their pet projects. But, they'd never do that.

Lem: These off-the-wall arguments are offered simply for the sake of finding some really weird reason to permit the creation of a child without taking on the responsibility for caring for this innocent being. The life inside a woman's womb did not just occur as it did for Virgin Mary.

And how can the inconvenience of nine months of gestation be more important than permitting God-forbidden murder?

Sixty million deaths and counting! Simply because the court said that murder was suddenly legal.

RealClear Investigations May 10
By John Murawski

'Here Are the 90+ 'Equity' Plans Taxpayers Are Now Funding Across the Federal Government

Under the Biden administration, more than 90 federal agencies have pledged their commitment to equity by adopting action plans that put gender, race and other such factors at the center of their governmental missions.

The Equity Action Plans, which have received little notice since they were posted online last month following a document request from RealClearInvestigations, represent a “whole of government” fight against “entrenched disparities” and the “unbearable human costs of systemic racism.”

The equity blueprints show that:

The U.S. State Department is keen on exporting American-style gender and race consciousness into foreign diplomacy and across the globe. Citing “identity” and “intersections of marginalization” as focal points, State Department officials acknowledge that promoting these Western concepts in foreign lands may clash with “societal norms” and elicit an “unwillingness to cede power by dominant groups.”

The Environmental Protection Agency plans to tap into “community science” from tribal nations and other interest groups, in addition to relying on academic peer-reviewed research. As the agency shifts its enforcement focus from responding to complaints to proactively initiating its own investigations, the EPA plans to fund “community scientists” to supply evidence of what it calls environmental racism and other corporate practices to be targeted for federal investigation.

The Smithsonian Institution is embedding diversity and equity in “everything we do” across the labs and collections that make up the world’s largest museum complex. The Smithsonian has, like other agencies, enthroned a Head Diversity Officer position to coordinate these efforts, and will refocus its energies to explore “how race has informed all our lives” and affirm “the centrality of race in America.”

The Equity Action Plans are a response to an executive order President Biden signed on his first day of office in January 2021, committing his administration to pursuing “a comprehensive approach to advancing equity for all, including people of color and others who have been historically underserved, marginalized, and adversely affected by persistent poverty and inequality.”...'

The Pledge of Allegiance includes the words: "With liberty and justice For All".

The Left obviously would like to change this to: "With Equity For All"

With "Equity" meaning anything The Left says it is.

Evoking Lewis Carrol, Through the Looking Glass:

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”

It seems the low end food industry has devised a way to create and sell stuff that looks like food, smells good and tastes somewhere between meh and good, but it's not really food in the classic sense. Especially the bread/buns. It seems that is one of the more difficult things to fake.
It's like Levi jeans that cost $30 (Amazon offering them to me today for $22!). They're not really "Levi Jeans" as commonly understood by people of a certain age, and I'll be amazed if they last a year. They are made to meet a price point. To be fair, they are worth $20-$30. Actual Levi Jeans of the past would be closer to $80+. French fries served at Denny's that don't have every penny squeezed out of them would be $6 for a 5oz serving. Denny's could sell you a meal that's worth spending hard earned money on but it would be three times as expensive.

So Biden begged the Europeans to hold off the economic embargo of Russia's oil exports until *after* the mid terms. Europeans have gone along with it, sounds like foreign meddling in our elections at the behest of the Democrats....

Naaah! Also sounds like the Democrats are playing voters for suckers.... Naaah!

@Nice,
I had the same reaction. It looks like a a good middle class home. My observation is that Kavanaugh is a very humble man. He has no interest in ostenstation. And now, he may have no choice but to move to a gated community. Because it's only going to get worse.

Sensing a pattern? Conservative legislatures pass restrictions, lefty courts overturn them.

Fast forward to today. A conservative court finally rules in favor of the pro-life position, that is, let the states decide. To date, lefties have accepted every court decision (with glee I might add). What do the lefties do when this decision was rendered? They lose their collective minds. Nighttime protests in front of justices' homes. Wait 'til the summer violent protest season commences.

Just released via CNBC

Funny that food and energy are not included in the core CPI. Or how the feds lie to the American public.

Basically, the Biden plan is to wait until after the mid terms, then hammer us with $200 a barrel oil by a transport embargo on Russian oil exports.

But don't worry, he feels your pain.

tim in vermont said...

Wait until heating oil goes to $10 a gallon, with the proposed oil transport embargo on Russia. That's what Biden is playing with with this war, after privately telling Zelensky that Ukraine won't be joining NATO, but refusing to make this same commitment to Russia, thereby preventing this war.

Not to mention how the momentum to WWIII is just growing daily.

I was surprised too.

But if you think about it, SC Justice is one of the few jobs in government where it's tough to get rich via the usual bribes, playing the stock market, foundations, working for Raytheon after you retire, etc.

Unless your spouse is rich, you are just an upper middle class schlub like your neighbors.

And in the DC area, a Justice's salary probably doesn't go very far.

At less than $300k they'd have a tough time living in my neighborhood : )

Joe Smith - what you do not get is that Kavanaugh's house is a 15 minute limousine ride from work. Imagine what a house like that would cost for a Wall Street banker if it were 15 minutes to the North of Wall Street, say somewhere around the 70s on the Upper West Side.

Don't kid yourself, the Supreme Court Justices are super-elites, economically.

That being said, all the male ones have physically unattractive wives and they are unable to engage in adultery even if they wanted to, for obvious reasons, and all the female ones are - I don't want to sound unkind, but none of them are the sort of women who look good in expensive clothes, or cheap clothes, or even ordinary clothes. You might think that is not a big deal, but you are probably not a woman who was in law school 25 or 35 or more years ago, so you have not thought about it from that perspective.

Yes. I realized I got his name backwards, but I was too tired to fix it. I think I've come down with the latest covid. Mild fever, sore throat and minor congestion. That's torpedoed my activities for the rest of the week.
