A carefully selected sequence of TikToks. Let me know what you like best.

1. When they tell you you look like a "yassified"* Dwight D. Eisenhower.

2. When you're 15, and you write a letter to your favorite actress, and it's Jane Powell.

3. Going emo in 2008.

4. When things are not really that perfect... and it's perfect.

5. How to be spontaneous on TikTok.

6. That CIA document on consciousness and frequencies.

7. How much can a little boy love his baby sister?

_____________

* I learned a new word. According to the NYT: "To 'yassify' something... is to apply several beauty filters to a picture using FaceApp, an A.I. photo-editing application, until its subject — be that a celebrity, a historical figure, a fictional character or a work of fine art — becomes almost unrecognizably made up.”

Number 2 👍🏻 👍🏻

Classy. Had to Google Jane Powell. I get Howard Keel and Gordon MacRae confused, too.

Keel had a non-singing role in a movie about man-eating plants, so he's one-up on MacRae.

This girl's outfit she wore on her day with Jane Powell was also classy. Now she wears a nosering. Well, Rome didn't fall in a day, either.

We could solve the pronoun problem by having the subject and possessive case just swap functions. If so, be it known Quaestor holds the copyright to "She Shoes".

#2 and #7 are both lovely.

Now I love Jane Powell for her graciousness and class.

KENNETH, WHAT IS THE FREQUENCY? <---- A top 10 1980s catchphrase, from Dan Rather's beating on a New York street by persons unknown. Good to see the CIA is on the ball with number frequency in mind control.

Selections that get a thumbs ups from me...am I charmed and/or do I smile or laugh. I was charmed by the Jane Powell one (didn't expect to be) and I smiled/laughed at 4 and 7.

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

I have watched #1 at least 10 times and laughed hysterically every time.

I am clearly not the audience to TikTok. I don't get any of these and most others. Will keep trying though.........

Annabelle should be hoping she inherits her brother's skin, eye and hair color.

#7. He's the Shakespeare of toddlers.

Sonnet #18: Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?
Sonnet #19: I Love You Ella Belle!

These are my selections, not representative of TikTok in general. You’ve probably learned that your taste is far off from mine, so if I were you, I would skip these posts and maybe check out TikTok directly or forget the whole thing.

Ann- Maybe TikTok is an acquired taste, like a gin martini? It's not your selection that I dislike, it's the medium itself and what it does to people. Perhaps it will grow on me.

#5 is the guy from the Dem Arby Boys viral video from a couple years ago. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FrzOx_EQEBo

I loved #4.

Oh, I voted too hastily. I watched #7 again and again, and I want to change my vote to #7. That little boy (and Annabelle) have made my day.
