I like that view better than the far distant city skyline.
It’s very beautiful, to me…

farmgirl said...

Or- is it the same? I appears to be a hidden skyline- I appreciate the obscurity lol

“ I like that view better”

But it’s looking west, so I only use it on days when the sun is completely blocked.

While all of us were watching the Ghislaine Maxwell trial, the US DOJ quietly ended the case against the two Manhattan jail guards who -- if we believe them -- fell asleep while they were supposed to be monitoring Jeffrey Epstein.

Does this look like the fix is in?

Big Mike-
Happy coincidence! Another one. I'm sure Bill Clinton's sexual connections to/with Epstein had nothing to do with any of it.

In news local to me - The entire town of old town Superior is gone, the PetSmart where I sometimes shop is probably burned down. There were live animals in there.
If I had to guess - at least 1000 homes have burned. Niehgboring Louisville is on fire, whole neighborhoods - gone. Avista hospital is totally evacuated. It's a complete catastrophe. and it's not over until it snows tomorrow.
Send prayers please.

I saw Matrix Resurrections. Spoiler alert: it's awful. The plot was extremely confusing. So far as I could understand, if you escape from the Matrix, you enter into a reality that's just another matrix. Perhaps at the end, the two characters have just escaped into yet another matrix where they will forced to make hard choices in order to escape into another matrix. Level 5 Matrix. Maybe at Level 7 Matrix, they will have naked women. The Level 4 Matrix presented in this current movie is dark and confusing and doesn't have any naked women.....The first Matrix movie was terrific and you could understand the underlying theogony. The second not so much, but it had some good action scenes. The third movie was incomprehensible. The symbolism in this movie seems alternately ponderous and silly. It doesn't refer to any problem I've experienced on my plane of existence. Maybe young people who spend more time with video games can understand it better.

I regret to report that my new home town made national news today. A cleaning service employee at the Naples Zoo intruded past a protective barrier and reached through the bars to pet a rare Malayan tiger. It went badly for the man, but much worse for the tiger. The incident has been dubbed Harambe 2.0.

William got more out of The Matrix than I did.

I've avoided the franchise since, and the plot sounds like turtles all the way down--reminds me of P J Farmer's "Riverworld" series which started strong and by the end had gone so far into incomprehensible pseudo-techno-quasi-spirituality that I never finished the last book.

Thank you. I was not familiar with that word.

The main theme of the Matrix movies is eternal recurrence.

Hollywood basically makes the same stuff over and over

Sequels are tough. The New Testament is not as good as the Old Testament.

The first two Matrix movies seemed to strongly imply the "real world" was just another level of the virtual reality, but then they seemed to toss all of that out in the third movie.

Not going to bother with the new one. They should have stopped after the first one on artistic grounds, but I understand the financial motives, and I did pay to see the next two.

It seems the winning female Jeopardy contest wasn't born that way. Glass ceilings everywhere.

I'm really waiting to see this trans-gender shit hit synchronized swimming.

The first Matrix movie was very "cinematic." The image of all those humans making up some giant battery or energy source was very striking. The sequels seemed to me to be too talky and confusing. I'm reminded a bit of the Star Wars series: some people know the names of all the planets and creatures and the rest of us are just trying to follow the story. But the Matrix sequels were far more confusing and it felt like there was less substance underneath all that than in the Star Wars films.

Yes. Everyone is still considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-shot series, such as the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as the J&J/Janssen vaccine.

what was definition of vaccinated before / after Fauci went on TV last week?

BTW, you forgot to include "crossing state lines" and the russians in this latest lunacy of yours.

By the way, has Fauci himself been vaccinated yet? As of an article that my wife discovered online, and which was dated September 18, 2021, Fauci had boasted to fellow NIH muckety-mucks that he hadn’t been vaccinated and wouldn’t let himself be vaccinated. I wonder what he knows about the safety of those vaccines that he isn’t telling us?

7:35 am is really late for a sunrise. Would it be out of line to ask Althouse to wake up earlier?

"7:35 am is really late for a sunrise. Would it be out of line to ask Althouse to wake up earlier?"

The official sunrise time yesterday was 7:28. Today, it hits 7:29, the latest sunrise of the year (if you correct for daylight saving (the clock time in November goes as late as 7:39).

The sun doesn't break my horizon line until a few minutes after that time because I'm not looking at the horizon, which is blocked by whatever landscape or cityscape is in front of the sun at different times of the year. Also thick clouds can delay the star's appearance on the stage.

I hate to think of the cosmic calamity of the sun adjusting itself to my happenstance wakenings. Something about the darkest month of the year is causing me to wake up early. I've been getting up at 2:30 some days and was happy to make it to nearly 4 today. Right now, it's 4:47, which is the clock time for getting ready to get out of the house on the earliest sunrise days of the year. Sunrise is at 5:17, and unfortunately I need to set the alarm.

If I correct for daylight savings, sunrise when it's earliest, is 4:17. But that would have been fine for me this week. I'd get up without the alarm.

I'd like to think that I've done something to spread the "President LGB" meme.

I got up about 10am, which is late even for me.

So much to be thankful for.
