"I don’t know, and I’m not going to try to read her mind. Maybe she was just bored coming out of her jail cell. I know her sister sometimes also sketches in court. Maybe the Maxwell family just likes to sketch in their free time."

Said Jane Rosenberg, the courtroom artist who found herself on the receiving end of drawing by Ghislaine Maxwell, quoted in "'My life is weird': the court artist who drew Ghislaine Maxwell drawing her back" (The Guardian).
She and another artist, Liz Williams, were sketching Maxwell one day during a pre-trial motion when they noticed that Maxwell, armed with a pen or pencil, was returning the favor.

It made me think of the phrase, "When you gaze long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you."

There's no gazing like the gazing required for drawing.

"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster . . . when you gaze long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you."

When you draw the monster, the monster draws you.

The artist puts a light spin on it — maybe it was just boredom or she likes to draw. I don't think so. I think Maxwell is speaking silently, saying: You're looking at me? I'm looking at you. You see evil in me? I see it in you.

Ghislaine did NOT commit suicide.... Yet

Why are they all wearing masks? When does this end?

Not required to wear masks in Nebraska state courts now.

"Yeah, you might think you see evil in me, but I just draw pictures of people in courtrooms.

You, well, you know what you're on trial for."

("Your boos mean nothing to me. I've seen what makes you cheer.")

I think women find it difficult to comprehend that any woman would help a man (or men) harm young girls. It's mind boggling.

Everything about this case is bizarre. That what's his name was killed in prison - Clintonian weirdness.

OT:
Watch this video of man operating a sting operation in his own back yard to catch another man who wants to meet up with his 15 year old daughter.

What I find interesting is the insanity loop -- The police cannot do anything until a crime occurs, and the police- +media/culture frown upon vigilantism. Even though, taking care of your own family is really what we are forced into, in this age of "you are on your own" & "the police have been de-funded/ and they cannot help you anyway."

The text, since I can't embed:

It's so embarrassing when you're staring into the abyss and the abyss stares back at you, so you wave and it waves back, but it turns out the abyss was waving at someone behind you.

So, who else did she draw over the years? In what compromising positions? And where are those drawings?

One eye is always unseeing, when you draw self-portraits. See Derrida "Memoirs of the Blind" lavishly illustrated. Probably there's the same effect when you draw somebody drawing you.

Apparently, the "monster" is the tip of the proverbial iceberg (a la #MeToo #HerToo), which is hidden in a privacy sheath that protects a global minority of socially-forward elite with a pedophile orientation.

You cannot begin to understand Ghislaine Maxwell if you don't know the details of her fathers life and death.

Which is nothing short of astonishing and often unbelievable, and not in a good way.

Ghislane Maxwell did not kill herself.

Owen म्हणाले...

Not a very flattering sketch by Maxwell of the courtroom artist. Maybe she’s not feeling relaxed and sociable: no rapport with her subject. I wonder why?

Leland म्हणाले...

I'm going with bored. Perhaps she is used to drawing people like French whores after watching Jack Dawson on the big screen. Because if I was pissed at someone watching me and drawing me; then that's what I might do to mess with them. They have an obligation to draw what is happening in the court room. You can draw them as your imagination sees fit. If she is really a monster with spite; then she'd start writing in big letters the names of the Johns whom she provided escorts.

Ghislaine may in fact be the monster she is accused of being - though that is yet to be proved - but however that turns out, I kind of like the moxie she exhibited in this sketching interlude.

I think she should pay. Just like Martha Stewart. Jamie Dimon laughs.

Word has it the black book the judge has allowed in the trial has the name of straight shooter Alec Baldwin. 😬

She is the same courtroom sketch artist who famously butchered Tom Brady's portrait when he was in court for Deflategate. She was roundly criticized and ultimately forced to produce another sketch of him to prove she wasn't a hack. Her first sketch at the link - https://piximus.net/media/37724/the-internet-is-having-way-too-much-fun-with-this-sketch-of-tom-brady-1.jpg

Well, pimping ain't easy, and Ms. Maxwell needs to find some way to relieve her stress. Drawing seems more productive an activity than grooming young teens as sex SLAVES.

I know nothing about drawing monsters or monsters drawing me. But I have learned that when you eat pineapple the pineapple eats you back.

The fate of Ghislaine Maxwell is irrelevant compared the the Prosecution's eagerness to hang her and then close up shop.

Andrew म्हणाले...

That reminds me of the Agatha Christie novel, Five Little Pigs, which also was a great Poirot TV episode.

(Spoiler Alert)

The murder victim was an artist, who died while painting a portrait. The murderer turned out to be the woman he was painting. She watched him die from poison as he painted her.

The Vault Dweller म्हणाले...

Seems like a social power-play move to me. She is trying to intimidate the artist. By the artist I mean the one drawing Ghislaine Maxwell.

Mikey NTH म्हणाले...

Or maybe it is "I wonder if any defendant sketched the courtroom artist?"

Sometimes the answer isn't obscure. Sometimes it can be obvious.

cubanbob म्हणाले...

Maxwell knows this is a show trial and that she will be in the federal gulag for the rest of her life. She is the fall guy for Epstein who conveniently hanged himself under very unusual circumstances and none of the Johns are being prosecuted. I rather doubt the DoJ will ever explain why she wasn't offered leniency in exchange for her testimony against the Johns.

Why do we still have courtroom artists? Snap her with your iPhone and be done with it.

Comey's daughter, yes, Comey's, is going to make sure no democraticals are harmed in the permanent disappearance of Ghislaine Maxwell.
