Have you been following the news? They say an Indiana man kept calling 911 to say that he is tired.

Are you tired?

Yes, always.
I'm assuming that clip shown alongside 4 other Gabby articles, is an ad teaser.

Isn't tiredness, a Primary symptom of Covid-19?
Isn't it A Fact, that every single person, that ever experienced tiredness...
WAS DEAD, in just a short time (seldom more than 100 years) of tiredness experience?

If a FATAL Illness isn't a good reason to call 911, What is?

I'm tired
Sick and tired of the blues
I've had my fill of the news
From below and above
Tired, tired of being retired
Tired of fake news uninspired
Let's face it
I'm tired

Series of haunting songs appeared on Gabby Petito's Spotify before she went missing.

That damn White Album, again.

You'd say I'm putting you on
But it's no joke, it's doing me harm
You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain
You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane
I'd give you everything I've got
For a little peace of mind

No, it was actually a random Hoosier who was tired and regarded it as an emergency.

Ann Althouse said...

Yeah, click the image to enlarge it. Do I need to write that out every time? Because I'm sick and tired of doing that.

By the way, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired" is another example of that rhetoric discussed in the first post of the day.

"That damn White Album, again."

Just as John Lennon thought his being tired was an occasion for singing it out to the world, the man in Indiana thought his being tired was an occasion for notifying the police.

Most of us when really tired just go to sleep. It's the obvious, easy, and functional thing to do. But like toddlers who want to stay up for the action, some adults will just barrel on, doing less and less sane things with the consciousness that just won't stop.

I did click on it. It just seemed so utterly misplaced and random. The sort of thing that might get me to open it when I'm tired from waking up at 3 am and allowing my mind to click into first gear. From there it's an easy ride to 5:30 am. Just about the time you're wandering up to Lake Mendota, I'm falling back to sleep for 30 minutes before the dog comes in to announce the new day.

So yeah, sleep is a thing here. Meanwhile, my wife sleeps through it all. And somewhere in Indiana a guy calls up 911 for help.

The Indiana dude is more my speed. I love his 'I don't give a fuck' look.

'The funny thing is, I’m at a tire shop right now. Hopefully it’s something they can patch and not have to replace a fairly new tire.'

If it's anywhere near the sidewall then you're screwed. I always hate it when I have to replace only a single tire. I worry about uneven wear, etc. even if the new tire matches. Good luck...

Can't you see he's pooped?

Until they finally doze off and end up close and personal with a bridge abutment. I came within seconds of doing that once.

"Are you tired?"

Having leukemia, yeah. A lot.

I felt really good the other day, for some unknown reason. It was striking. Is that how I used to feel all the time? I don't remember.

Get better Original Mike...

Good luck to you Original Mike, hope you recover quickly.

And yes, I'm tired too. Lucky not to have leukemia! Or COVID. Or no job/no money. And tired.

Tired of work. More and more hours. Since the pandemic started, everything at work is an emergency! Everything a crisis! Everything requiring more and more immediate response. Even if it's a theatrical emergency. It feels like the bosses are using the state of emergency to make everything an emergency, even when the state of emergency fades. (And relatedly, it's funny that this state of emergency is making me tired, which itself is apparently an emergency. Emergencies beget emergencies!!)

Tired of constant stress about child care. About the mental health of my kids. (About my mental health too, and my wife's.) Tired of medication.

Tired of the sometimes slow, sometimes fast feeling of national and global collapse. Like we're coming in at the end of a losing game.

Tired of everyone acting like we're so incredibly assured of our future.

Tired of our dumbass politics, needless to say.

Tired of feeling like I have to think of myself as the lucky one. Even though I am! (See??)

Tired of cancel culture, and the complaints about cancel culture.

Tired of complaining.

Tired of not complaining!

Tired of so many stupid streaming channels!

Tired of algorithms. THEY SUCK. Even if they work.

Tired of facebook video clips. I deleted the app, like a junkie flushing today's drugs.

Did I mention tired of work? Is this really it? Work, work, get paid, spend, work, work, forever and ever. Oh and did I mention tired of feeling lucky?

Tired of the French (though maybe a little jealous, since they work less even though it takes them 20 years to hand carve submarines).

Tired of lists.

And by the way, tired of not sleeping. Ann, Americans sleep terribly -- there's various statistics around, like more than a third of adults get less than 7 hours a night. I'm not sure "most of us" just go to sleep when tired. Have you noticed that adults are doing less and less sane things?

I'm tired of that too.

I find it intriguing that a guy in flyover country calling 911 because he is tired and being arrested for it is.....news.

But I guess if you're tired of missing white woman stories, and the colossal clusterfark that is our federal government, and the petering out pandemic, and the chaos at the border, and the eff up that was Afghanistan, and the mainstream media hiding the news that's bad for Dems but highlighting "news" that's good for Repubs, while covering for Xi....some dude with impulse control issues would be welcome news.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys. It's chronic. I've had it for over 10 years. If I'm lucky, I'll die of something else first. Or I may reach the point where we try treatment. Not eager to do that if I don't have to; there are downsides, like really wiping out my immune system worse than it is now. Just living with it for now, but there are downsides to that too, like being tired a lot.
