"President Trump on Tuesday showed no contrition or regret for instigating the mob that stormed the Capitol and threatened the lives of members of Congress..."

"... and his vice president, saying that his remarks to a rally beforehand were 'totally appropriate'” and that the effort by Congress to impeach and convict him was 'causing tremendous anger.' Answering questions from reporters... the president sidestepped questions about his culpability.... 'People thought what I said was totally appropriate,' Mr. Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews, en route to Alamo, Texas, where he was set to visit the border wall.... 'If you look at what other people have said, politicians at a high level about the riots during the summer, the horrible riots in Portland and Seattle and various other places, that was a real problem,' he said."

They made a huge mistake. They should've masked up, talked about "occupying" this and that, and looted the Smithsonian and burned down the Arby's on K Street.

That's how you turn a riot into a mostly peaceful protest. Someone didn't get the memo.

Antifa held a protest in San Diego, Cal. yesterday where they also fought Trump supporters. One of the antifa held a sign saying Capitol Hill protester Ashli Babbitt deserved to get killed.

Somehow all these Antifa marches are OK with the FBI? why?

(I'd suggest that it might happen because mobs are dangerous, inherently, and things get out of hand.

Or because "we're righteous and good and protesting for good, and that person is trying to stop us, which makes them BAD".

Mobs don't think. That's why they're dangerous and to be avoided.)

In addition, 59% of Republicans do not blame Trump for inciting violence.

But in Madison, WI 100% "believe" the election was legitimate because they love he outcome, no matter the cost, and 100% believe Trump incited violence because it justifies them targeting their enemies.

Meanwhile the plywood artwork in Madison is headed for the Milwaukee Art Museum.

It's a great new dynamic to the Althouse blog. The author and publisher still believes the NYTs and Wash Post are legit, while the peanut gallery knows they're complete garbage propaganda. If anything it's unique, which is the last piece of it's fading charm and entertainment.

The other deal I’ll accept is that the Democrats renounce violence and disband their paramilitary forces.

Just as the New York Times and Washington Post were quick to assure us--in what was supposed to be news reporting--that allegations of improprieties involving Joe and Hunter Biden have been debunked, they now insist that Trump instigated the invasion of the Capitol.

BTW, included in the "reported" death count of the Capitol invasion are at least two or three, maybe four, who suffered heart attacks--and one of those may not even have been in the building. But no one ever counted any fatal heart attacks suffered during last year's BLM festivities as deaths caused by the demonstrations. If it wasn't for double standards, the media would have no standards at all.

Occam's razor. Trumpers have been calling for violence for two months. Stuff like this: "Next week sometime the Democrats will have generated enough votes to win. At that point, the civil war starts.. . . The bullet box is next. I greatly fear it will get bloody before it is over."

Or those that "believe the time has come for civil war if this fraud is allowed to stand."

Or that "These articles from the NYT's and your all's treatment of this election just make civil war more likely."

There a lot of people in Trumpland that have been calling for violence (or at a minimum arguing that violence was justified and inevitable.) You don't get to have it both ways. You don't get to spend two months calling for violence and then blame the other guys when the violence comes to pass.

The time to "tone down" the rhetoric was about six weeks ago. At this point, I take these guys at their word.

Now, it is true that the Democrat’s paramilitary forces, Antifa and BLM, are not always visible on the streets of NYC.

But they come out from time to time to show us their capabilities and then disappear.

So that Robert Cook can deny that they are his thugs. While still benefitting from their violence.

The initial "you" is doing a lot of work there.

Cause you apparently get to actually engage in riots, looting and arson, and your Democrat leaders get to explicitly actively endorse it, raise bail money, etc. etc., and then you still get to blame the other guys when they commit 0.00000001% of that violence. And call them the insurrectionists.

Yeah. The only ones who get to have it both ways is you guys, and you *always* get to have it both ways. We get that. That's always been true as long as I've been alive.

This is a form of electioneering for Democrats.

They'll also be saying that Trump was much more rational, and a much nicer guy, than the current Republican.

I didn't think it could get worse than the Left's continuous gaslighting that the election wasn't stolen.

Now they draw a literal equivalency between "question the election" and "insurrection". Between "the election was stolen" and "domestic terrorism".

Continue to question our election theft, and we will bring the full violence of the state against you. And just in case that's not enough to scare you silent, every corporation in America will collude to deplatform and silence you and destroy whatever few businesses you have left after we intentionally destroyed them via COVID lockdowns.

All while riots in Portland and elsewhere continue, with no interference - in fact, actual encouragement - from that same state.

But yeah, we're the violent ones.

I love documentaries, and so I’ve watched that steady onslaught of documentaries about the demise of the Deplorables. The attack of the documentaries is part of fake new propaganda, intended to demoralize the hated enemy, middle and lower class whites.

I am not talking about documentaries. Look at the raw demographic data. Working class white Americans were 70% of the US population in 1980. Today they're 40%. Meanwhile, neoliberal policies have seen their jobs shipped overseas, mass immigration, and financialization. That isn't "doing fine."

Documentaries are leftist by definition almost all the time.

For non-leftist perspectives on the demographic issue, see Peter Brimelow's Alien Nation, Pat Buchanan's The Death of the West, or Charles Murray's Coming Apart.

Shouting Thomas said...

Trump did a great job for the first 3 years of his term.

In the last year, he was destroyed by the Democrat’s pandemic panic and Cloward-Piven strategy. He still did a fine job of managing the virus panic and delivering a vaccine.

The Democrat’s put a gun to the electorate’s head with its paramilitary forces, BLM and Antifa and told the voters: “Vote for us or the punishment will continue.”

Either Trump will be back smarter, knowing that he has to control the DOJ, CIA and FBI first, and have a strategy for doing that, or there will be a different Republican candidate in the future who has these skills.

Trump outsider status proved to be his undoing, although it was also what we wanted from him. Given the determination of the federal bureaucracy to oppose him in every instance, he did a great job.

I thank President Trump for his efforts. He was a step in the right direction. The next iteration of opposition to the Democrat’s paramilitary strategy will be better equipped to fight back without illusions.
