"Democrats aways talked about things getting better. Republicans did whatever they could to make them better."

That's trending on Twitter.

The quoted line has a powerful sexual effect on the woman that is truly hilarious — whatever your political predilections. The movie is from 2003 and the female character, played by Penelope Ann Miller, is Donna Hanover, who was married to Giuliani from 1984 to 2001.

I'm sure they are loving the DeBlasio days now almost as much as the Dinkins days (rip- he just passed away). Giuliani restored New York and Bloomberg glided through multiple terms seated on top of the hard work Giuliani and his team did cleaning up that city. It took only months for DeBlasio to turn it into a shithole again. He's been at it for years now and I don't see any Giuliani's in the offing for New York. Nothing but Democrats all the way down.

I think a lot of women and men would be longing for a Giuliani again right about now.

Leftism is about good intentions. Liberals are about good deeds.
Leftists," Look what I did with your money!"
Liberals," I did this all by myself and you get to benefit."
leftists," Participation will be compulsory!"
Liberals," Go. Stay. Do whatever. I don't care."
Leftists don't trust you.
liberals do.

Or maybe not so much of cuddler after all. The daughter he had with Hannover hates him.

What jumps out at me is that the lady who posted it had to have watched it several times, then cut the scene out and did her spontaneous laugh at exactly the right time for the clip. I would be willing to bet that she doesn't actually do a lot joyful laughing. Ever.

OMG. This is the type of thing that would bring out the annoying forced laughter of a Kamala Harris / Rachael Maddow segment.

The highlight is some chick cracking up at the end of the clip? She’s got some interesting stuff on her twitter feed, but this isn’t. Cheesy, yes. Campy, yes. But hilarious? Even the mocking isn’t funny. It’s not witty. It’s timed. Not like she was organically watching the clip. She had to play it over to time her laugh. I can't imagine the parties in Madison, WI. You probably have to look around the room to pick up the intellectual laughter cue.

So instead of addressing Giuliani’s efforts to halt massive voter fraud perpetuated in areas like Madison, WI , we get this? Rudy Giuliani is a hero. He’s actually interested in truth…justice…peace. Giuliani doesn’t pretend plywood is an artistic canvas. Much different than the legal professionals in Madison, WI.

I saw the latest Borat movie. Some of it was hilarious. But the obligatory GOP bashing wasn’t the same. Just a cliché. And the in no way was Giuliani trying to get it on with the fake Borat daughter. He was being gracious trying to help her “get through the interview”.

No heart of stone, here. Crying.

Time to look up James Woods on twitter. He's a good follow.

He and Miller got paid for services rendered. If I was Rudy, I'd walk out of the room before we got to this part but then if I was Rudy, this movie would never have been made.

Then he got old.

Her expression was basically the same as it was when she called Churchill a Democrat and asked why he switched.

The morning after is also quite funny. "Here's looking to many performances like last night!"

I take it Althouse must have died of laughter looking into the female faces on the other side of a Bill Clinton or Barak Obama rope line?

Ham acting or whatever aside, I took it a the woman saw in Rudy what she admired about the man's principles and realized, then, that she loved him. What am I missing?

In the end, Ms. Hanover got wised up (and how!) to the cold reality that her husband was a classless, self-serving scumbag.

The quoted line was, of course, false until Trump donned the Republican mantel and became President.

Perhaps MS Hanover ran into opposition when her narcissistic actress self just had to play in the Vayjajay Monologues.

Who added the laugh track?

The kiss made me feel bad for the stupid director.

If that video ends at 15ish seconds it is a good apologia.

That Ann has believed Republican men are nasty animals that are mean to women for 60+years and that only democrats have any good motives or feelings.

We don't need condescending pity. It's just not funny. We are commentators. We don't bark like seals on command. That's a Madison, WI thing.

"The quoted line has a powerful sexual effect on the woman that is truly hilarious — whatever your political predilections."

It seemed fairly clear to me that the screenwriter's intention, in placing an attractive, clearly heterosexual couple on a moonlit beach, with the female in a low-cut dress, was to create a scene that must -- and would -- end with a kiss. That the dialog preceding that kiss ends with a line about "making things better" is not intended to be the source of the erotic effect, but at most a semi-ironic commentary.

But hey, whatever.

Kai Akker said...

Well, okay. But ALL the dialogue and acting were weak and strange, and put into a curious setting. The need to laugh hysterically at the kiss in particular probably comes from sexual anxiety. That would explain why it's a couple of women who have had to vent it, so far.

It's true, you know.

Rush is always talking about how Democrats measure everything in 'intentions' and 'feelings.'

They feel bad for people and really want to help, but somehow nothing ever changes.

See: Inner-city blacks.

Check out James Woods Twitter feed. He is very funny and very snarky.

It's hard to find a modern movie that in a self-aware way says anything against the left.

I have a suspicion that for many people on the left, their reality or their perception of reality, is built from movies and TV shows.

I didn't laugh out loud, but right before the kiss, and the cackle, I was just truly, truly confused. The talk of politics and then her seeming attraction arising out of politics was just completely wrong.

For those of you who think this is some bash against conservatives, reimagine this scene so that instead of Guiliani, it's a lefty talking about how democrats are right and republicans are wrong. It's just as ridiculus.

What's funny is, I *actually* experienced something like this when I--a liberal then and now--was a young 20-something woman, talking to a guy I was genuinely interested in. His justification of his politics and his thinking was a huge turn-off. I never saw him again.

Me: "So if you are truly a marxist, then why are you teaching at this private school where only the children of the rich and powerful go?"

Him: "Well, if they will be in charge in the future, someone should make sure that they understand the plight of the poor and think about people other than their own class"

Later in the conversation, he revealed to me that he had a feeling that he would be killed while still in his youth, for reasons related to politics.
