Dozens of past episodes with controversial guests are notably absent from the new Joe Rogan Experience channel, such as interviews with conspiracy theorists Alex Jones and David Seaman, far-right figures such as Owen Benjamin, Stefan Molyneux, Milo Yiannopoulos, Gavin McInnes, Charles C. Johnson and Sargon of Akkad, as well as comedian Chris D'Elia (who has recently been accused of sexual impropriety). Also seemingly absent is an early episode where Rogan regular Joey Diaz infamously joked about coercing female comics into performing oral sex – an exchange that resurfaced in the press in the wake of the Spotify deal. A few of the vanished episodes were more perplexing, however, such as an interview with pot activist Tommy Chong.Fail.
When the Spotify deal was announced in May, Rogan told his listeners that "beginning Sept. 1, the entire JRE library will be available on Spotify."... Spotify reportedly paid more than $100 million to lure the country's most popular podcaster exclusively to the streaming service.... The comedian and MMA commentator has long prided himself on talking to people from across the political spectrum and has frequently railed against "de-platforming" – tech companies that remove controversial voices.
“They want me to just continue doing it the way I’m doing it right now,” Rogan has previously said of the Spotify deal. “It’s just a licensing deal, so Spotify won’t have any creative control over the show. It will be the exact same show. We’re going to be working with the same crew doing the exact same show."

Cancelled...........
So much for diversity of thought.
The key word is “library.” The entire Ann Althouse library would not include comments or blog posts that she has deaccessed, for whatever reason.
Would that be like Althouse moving to spotify blogging and being asked to remove all comments from her blog history? Would it be worth it for $100 million? Any Biden posts that were unflattering would also have to be removed.
...and he didn't leave LA because it's a shithole, he left because of the tax benefits. Sorry to burst all y'all's bubble...
Sue them for consumer fraud.
Sure whatever.
For those interested, Castbox appears to have them all, and it's free.
Joey Diaz is pretty funny. Not politically correct. Via the Rogan podcast was the first time I listened to him. He has a life story that is worth listening to. At least just as a cautionary tale to listen to.
Alex Jones I have a hard time stomaching because he seems off. But he is also perceptive once the crazy curtain gets removed. Its just exhausting to listen to him ramble. I mainly bare down and try to hear if he is saying something useful. But hear Joe Rogan shows everyone how to listen to a Alex Jones. Well. I can't do it. My ears don't work as well as Rogans.

Eww...
Say it ain't so, Joe.
@Night
I too find Jones impossible to listen to, but that's not the point. Spotify is making the choice for both of us (if we subscribe) in this matter. They chose a number of guests that their subscribers are not allowed to hear. This after paying 100 million on a guy for whom independent thought is his main selling point. It's wrong and as others suggest, consumer fraud.
Couldn’t be cancelled on podcast. Someone felt it was worth $100m to effectively cancel him. Follow the money.
Rogan deserves chance to respond, but it's disappointing that he hasn't already. Why wasn't he on this as soon as the problem was discovered?
Say it ain’t so Joe B or R
A2 said..."Fail."
No, Epic Fail.
I find it annoying when commenters jump into a conversation about person x or topic y only to let everyone know that that person or topic doesn't interest or appeal to them.
However...
Joe Rogan - I don' get it. I'd rather listen to Yoko Ono screaming about grapefruit.
I would sell out for $100 million in my pocket.
I don't listen to Rogan so I don't care, but that's a lot of dough...
This is what I feared would happen. Also, I listen to podcasts on an mp3 player. I cannot take my phone to some areas. Sorry Joe. You lost me.
Just another lying hypocrite liberal. He lied about moving to Texas and he lied about his library.
Just like Drudge. A sellout.
Seems like a worthwhile trade-off.

He probably doesn't know. He's said numerous times that the really doesn't pay attention to social media.
Michael K is right. Joe has a price and they paid it.
I will just repost what I wrote the day Althouse first covered Rogan's Spotify deal:
I have only watched a handful of his podcasts, and while I liked what I saw, I don't see how this is worth even $1,000,000 to Spotify. At $100,000,000, though, I strongly suspect that the things I did like about Rogan's podcasts will now become impossible for him to do- Spotify's management is just as left-wing nutjobs as every other social media company's management, and they aren't going to put up with Rogan's relatively unbiased approach to interviewing and guest selection. I hope to be proven wrong in this prediction, though.
It looks like I was spot on with that one.
The blocked episodes are on other platforms, I believe.
Question going forward: does Spotify have exclusive editorial control over release of all episodes or simply first right of refusal?
Hopefully Rogan secured the later.
I listened to the new super-long (which means that Althouse may presume that Rogan liked the conversation (for Althouse, a short podcast has been a red flag re identifying a bad podcast)) podcast.
There was a lot of librul talk in this very long JRE.
Incl, making fun of Ben Shapiro being stump re what causes a P-word wetness.
BTW, for a bit now I’ve had the majority of my comments deleted by Althouse so that they won’t display in the threads. I would love to see her do that w/ this comment, in this particular thread.
If I had to bet, I’d say that she will hit the delete button, yet again. That’d be a win-win. Both in WI and re me.
Cool.
Yah, everything I know about Joe Rogan is what Prof spreads before us.
And I must also say that I never understood what she saw in him.
Narr
I don't recognize most of the guests mentioned either!
Disappointing. If Spotify didn't want them, he should have left them on Youtube.
Speaking of Alex Jones, I’m doing a quote for an organization that would blow everybody’s mind here. Everybody.
I’ll let ya know if I DONT get it.
YUGE!

Agreed but I would try to disappear afterwards. They seem to have taken his skin to wear like the Iowahawk simile.
Spotify's choice of deletions lets Rogan know what type of guests he should not invite in the future.

Why should we believe you? Can anyone else confirm deletion of de-Shitter space posts? Meadehouse, comment?
Smells like shit to me, Spacey, every time I see you posting, you're posting. Why would they censor or delete some of your posts but not others? I think you're gaslighting. And if Meadehouse decides you are trying to destroy the blog and should be censored all the time, boo hoo hoo.
Was someone else offering Rogan like $90 million that forced Spotify to go to 100?
Seems crazy that advertising could be worth that. I skip past the commercials, because it's so easy with streaming content.
Wrench. Hammer. Screwdriver. Chisel. Joe Rogan.
I just added the song "Democracy Sucks!" to my Spotify playlists so no one can accuse me of holding back.

Sorry, you apparently have to login to spotify. Pass.
Try YouTube. You have to decide whether you want to get paid or get your message out.
