"... and just seeing this administration, watching the hypocrisy of it, day in and day out, is dispiriting.... I have to say, that waking up to the news, waking up to how this administration has or has not responded, waking up to, yet another, story of a Black man or a Black person somehow being dehumanised, or hurt or killed, or, falsely accused of something, it is exhausting. And, and it, it has led to a weight, that I haven’t felt in my life, in, in a while.... Barack’s in his office, making calls, working on his book. I’m in my room, the girls are on their computers. But right around five o’clock, everybody comes out of their nooks, and, we like, do an activity, like, puzzles have become big, just just sitting and doing these thousand piece puzzles.... So Barack has taught the girls [the card game] spades, so now there’s this vicious competition.... It’s almost like they needed the world to stop a little bit. You know they didn’t realise that they were, that the world they were on, and the way they were living it, was so treadmill-like. So fast and furious. Um, because it was all they ever knew.... [The pandemic is an opportunity to] decide how you want to show up in the new world. Because it will be a new world."
Said Michelle Obama, in her podcast, quoted at The Guardian.
I wonder if Michelle Obama suffers from the medical condition, depression. I hear "some form of low-grade depression" to mean that she feels low or sad based on the current conditions, not that she has clinical depression. But perhaps she does, and I would hope that people who suffer from depression feel supported by her words.
As for the Obamas, under lockdown, doing puzzles at the end of the day — I imagine that millions of people, reading about that, feel uplift just to picture the beloved family around a table in the evening laughing and talking over a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle. I am not kidding when I say that typing out that sentence brought tears to my eyes. What is more wholesome than a married couple with their adult children working on a complicated puzzle together? Such a beautiful life, and yet they still think of the troubles of the world and carry that weight along with them.
What puzzles do you imagine them doing? Maybe Van Gogh's "Starry Night" or Edward Gorey's "Cat Fancy" or this William Morris tapestry. That's what the Obamas in my evening fantasy are doing, and if someone made a puzzle out of an intricately detailed painting of the Obamas doing a puzzle, I would do that puzzle and so would millions of Americans. It might cure low-grade depression.
And here are the rules for the card game spades. Key rule: "The spade suit is always trump."
ADDED: "There's a tramp sittin' on my doorstep/Tryin' to waste his time/With his methylated sandwich/He's a walking clothesline/And here comes the bishop's daughter/On the other side/She looks a trifle jealous/She's been an outcast all her life/Me, I'm waiting so patiently/Lying on the floor/I'm just trying to do my jig-saw puzzle/Before it rains anymore...."

The tens of millions of families that never got to sit down and wholesomely put together a puzzle with the adult children because they never existed because the children were aborted, that ever bring a tear or two to the professor's eyes?
"I have to say, that waking up to the news, waking up to . . . yet another, story of a Black man or a Black person somehow being dehumanised, or hurt or killed, or, falsely accused of something, it is exhausting."
Considering how many thousands of blacks kill other blacks, dehumanizing each other more than any group in the western world, routinely, every year, and how little police, or the Trump administration, have to do with it, it is exhausting for any sensible black person to wake up to the reality that your own people are uniquely cruel to your own people.
No one else, anywhere in the West, would tolerate it. And it is intolerable to decent blacks. Hence the whitey did it, Trump did, systemic racism did it deflection BS.
You know they didn’t realise that they were, that the world they were on, and the way they were living it, was so treadmill-like. So fast and furious.
Um, not sure I would have gone with "fast and furious"...
I am not kidding when I say that typing out that sentence brought tears to my eyes. What is more wholesome than a married couple with their adult children working on a complicated puzzle together?
How about a married couple, who happen to be President/ex-President and First Lady/ex-First Lady, not setting race relations back 100 years in their attempt to subvert the American form of government? That seems more wholesome...

Shouting Thomas and rrhardin, I take back every nasty thing I ever thought about you.
Such a beautiful life, and yet they still think of the troubles of the world and carry that weight along with them.
I wonder if they ever regret the “troubles of the world” they personally created with their race-baiting, bashing law enforcement shit-disturbing?
Somehow, I doubt it.
If Obama hadn't abused the presidency to go after Flynn and Trump and if Hillary had accepted the election results, we would be living in a far better world. H*ll, look how much energy has been wasted on the politics of HCQ alone.
I could give a flying fuck that Michelle Obama is a little depressed, a lot depressed or ready to enter a psychiatric facility.
What a whiny loser. That Martha's vineyard estate can't cheer her up?
I picture Biden finishing a 4 piece jigsaw puzzle. That's depressing.
The move to install Michelle as the Dems candidate has begun, in earnest.
Boy I hope you are kidding. That sentence caused me to mutter "BS". I don't believe a word of any of those quotes of hers.
In college we played Spades quite a lot. Always with four players. The Obama's strike me as card players not group puzzle doers. The latter requires collaboration and cooperation. That crew is too friggin' competitive for puzzles.

I find myself starting to weep, too; no kidding. Imagine the Obamas having to carry the weight of the world's troubles along with them. It hurts in my tummy. How could it befall such a wonderful, puzzle-solving couple? Is there something we can do, all together, to lift their burden? Perhaps grant him immunity from prosecution on the Russia-hoax coup? I'm sure he meant well.
It is so hard to be black in America- just ask Michelle Obama how fucking hard it is.
Probably just Boogie Fever...I think it's going around.
Or she's bummed about the $100 million dollar oppression she's forced to endure at the hands of a systemically racist nation.
Ha ha ha.
Where exactly do they live again?
Cry me an f'n river.
She can always ponder her husband's presidential legacy.
That should cheer her up.
Imagine her suiciding because seeking help would look bad. But I guess the USSS would cut her down or whatever. Great VP/shadow POTUS material though. Tom Eagleton, come back, all is forgiven!
I was going to comment, but saw that the thought of the Obama's around a table brought tears to your eyes. I figured I'd leave you alone to enjoy your Obama moment.
But seriously...

God, you're a simp.
just seeing this administration, watching the hypocrisy of it, day in and day out, is dispiriting....
WOW, that is the EXACT same thing 50+% of the country thought [oh I don't know] 2 to 10 years ago but what did that matter to you? You were finally somewhat proud of your country...
Gee. If she only had some sort of influence for eight years, maybe all this 'racial strife' could be behind us.
"because of racial strife..."
Your husband is the primary cause of this, you cow.
What a crock.

That's very sad, and I'm heartbroken. But at least for eight glorious years she was really proud of her country. We'll always have that, Michelle.
Such a beautiful life, and yet they still think of the troubles of the world and carry that weight along with them.
I guess that is a take. Not the take I would have but a take.
I would be more inclined to think that the real weight they are carrying is more about how much trouble he stands to get into when the indictments start coming out. He has no actual fear of prison (mores the shame) but whatever is left of his "legacy" will be one and forever trashed. The real shame is the racial damage he did to this country and the weaponizing of the Government against its people due to politics. Mister "clean and articulate" was/is a phony and a fraud. May history accurately reflect his terms in office, that would [in my mind] be punishment enough for him. For the rest, jail.
stevew: "The move to install Michelle as the Dems candidate has begun, in earnest."
I am sticking with my nearly 3 year prediction that Michelle will be coronated at the democrat convention.
This discussion of caste in America - as opposed to racism - is worth talking about.
What if we're all right - you guys aren't "racists" but you're still punishing me because I'm black - that's interesting.
Michelle Obama's depression is based on America not figuring this out.
Spades? You can't make it up.
This is some world-class ass kissing right here. They're just like you and me...awwww.
I think...
I think I'll just walk on by and eschew the emotional labor this would require.
You made me laugh with that one.
Sounds like Althouse found her excuse to vote Democratic. Hahahaha! Cruel neutrality my a**!

Please, please, please include a sarc tag next time...you had me going there for a minute.
I think Mrs.Obama is depressed because she is no longer being fawned over as she swans around the world explaining her specialness to adoring crowds. Apparently doing puzzles, etc. with her husband and daughters brings a tear to her eye also. Michelle calls it low-grade depression.
Prediction: Next week the presumed Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden will tap for his running mate the currently most popular person in the world, Michelle Obama, and in doing so he will turn that frown upside down.
And THIS dear commentariat, is the moment that Althouse jumped the shark. That a generally sensible and intelligent woman could be drawn in by such obvious idolatry is horrifying. Buwaya is right about everything. The nation is done. Soon we will shoot it out in the ruins. It’s been nice to interact with some of you over the years.
Who wouldn't feel depression, if they just found out that people don't give a shit what any of them have to say.
Such a beautiful life, and yet they still think of the troubles of the world and carry that weight along with them.
What happened to cruel neutrality? You assume they have a beautiful life, and they, all of them, carry the the weighty troubles of the world along with them.
But still, great trolling.

Ok what's the "hypocrisy"? That Trump won't bend over backwards to virtue-signal, to prove he's not a racist, to apologize, to grovel before BLM? Hell that's what I like about him.
He acts like normal people used to act.
If it's about fiscal policy, which I rather doubt, then yeah but they're all ass-deep in hypocrisy now.

I hate to say it but Michelle might not be the only one who maybe should, you know, talk to someone.

Oh, good grief...
Michelle Obama, nailed by Martin Mull:
I woke up this afternoon
I saw both cars were gone
I woke up this afternoon
I saw both cars were gone
I feel so lowdown deep inside
I threw my drink across the lawn
She can always elect to become a martyr for the cause.
...and, if elected, for the second time in her life, M.O. will feel proud of her country.
“…But perhaps she does, and I would hope that people who suffer from depression feel supported by her words….”
Really?
Michelle narcissistically preening about how she feels dispirited about the world under Orangeman, and you hope those words will make those with depression feel support?
Oh, Daisy, that is a soothing ointment.
I am Laslo.
@Meade
I don't think even Barack is tapping Michelle these days.
I think it's the only way Biden can win, and if he does win we are all fucked, and the country should be collectively ashamed for falling for such pandering.
Affluent White Women: We're SO oppressed!
Michelle Obama: Hold my beer.....
"...this administration..." "I'd never hurt you, baby. You know that. It's just this war and THAT LYING SONOFABITCH JOHNSON!!!"
I've heard it said that taking action is the best antidote to depression.
So, Michelle ought to mask up and head to the hardest-hit riot cities and plead with the "peaceful protestors" to stop burning / tearing things down. That might alleviate her "depression". It might also blunt the Administration's need to respond.
Barack doesn't need to go. He's already so busy with his book.
Beloved?
It is a bad idea to even like a political, let alone love a politician. Those sentiments properly belong to people you actually know.
The correct mindset is: What is this person going to do, for whom, and how will it help me (unlikely) or harm me (much more likely).
None of these people are your friends, It is delusional to love them just like it is delusional to love musicians, comedians, actors or professional athletes. They have a job, they do it well or badly, they don't know you, and they don't care about you. They don't deserve to be loved.
I have a $100 Million in the bank, I don't work, I'm depressed -- and I blame Trump!

If the former first family were supportive of leftie city politicians enforcing the law, rather than assisting in the transition of the US to a Soros Socialist Society.
It does warm my heart that they're out of office...st least for the moment.
Recently I watched on cable television the 2018 movie Puzzle. It's about a middle-age mother with a bossy husband and two college-age sons who is depressed and therefore spends a lot of time doing jigsaw puzzles.
I enjoyed watching the movie.
She becomes involved in jigsaw-puzzle competitions and practices with a male partner. Although she is devoutly religious, she eventually commits adultery with that puzzle partner.
Late in the movie, the puzzle partner -- who is an intelligent, successful inventor -- explains in a monologue why depressed people spend time doing jigsaw puzzles. Essentially, he says, life is chaotic, but doing jigsaw puzzles gives you brief satisfaction that you can completely fix some of the chaos for a while.
I imagine that millions of people, reading about that, feel uplift just to picture the beloved family around a table in the evening laughing and talking over a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle.
If she had skipped the irrelevant Trump-hate, I might have bought your rose-glassed version of the Obama family. But she didn't and I can't.
I wonder if Michelle Obama suffers from the medical condition, depression.
She suffers from narcissistic personality disorder and now she is forced to go periods of time, hours sometimes, without her gang of sycophants catering to it. Once they are able to come back, her depression will go away.
But right around five o’clock, everybody comes out of their nooks, and, we like, do an activity
Like, do you? Yeah, none of them have jobs, but they avoid each other all day, anyway. If Michelle Obama was in my family, I probably would too.
Michelle doesn't care that the White Left in Portland destroy property, lives, and businesses in the name of her party.

Day after day I cringe at rrhardin's comments, and then the professor writes about the Obamas and I'm forced to admit--he has a point. There are a handful of topics on which the professor is happy to be an example of what he says all women are. Our first black president is one of them.
Well, anything can happen in 2020.
This is probably the worst post I have ever read by Althouse.
The cheap sentimentality, the self-pity, the acceptance of obvious baloney, the obliviousness to the real crisis in black America—hey Michelle, those boneheads are shooting each other down on Oak Street outside Dolce& Gabbana and the cops have been hamstrung to head it off—there is no end to it.
Hey, Althouse, I have a hundred sad stories from people with real problems, people who soldier on without the privilege that comes from being the former FLOTUS, people whose lives have been turned upside down by the fallout from this virus. Any of those folks are worth the same or more than this daughter of self pity.
Next thing you know, Oprah will start bleating about how she never had a real chance—oh, wait...
She's right, diversity and exclusion is an institutional, progressive condition.

yet another, story of a Black man or a Black person somehow being dehumanised
Women are now "person". I guess she had to do that after Dr. Stella Immanuel was dehumanised by the left for daring to note the HCQ works for her patients. We can't be offering a solution to this pandemic this many months before the election. The blue states haven't killed off enough boomers yet. Just remember, you can't go to your family's funerals or even vote in person, but everyone can participate in a Democrat approved funeral or protest.

Ahh, that brings me back! Remember the early days of the Obama administration when every half-witted talentless hack with a byline would shoehorn Obama into every story they could any way they could and pretend the most pedestrian observations were deep wisdom?
"Heavy dark clouds were coming our way and, as President Obama once said, heavy dark clouds often bring rain."
"My day started depressingly, but it brightened when I turned on Fresh Air and caught President Obama talking about how he used to hard boil eggs as a child. 'Put the eggs in before the water comes to a boil,' he said. 'And leave them in for 15 minutes or so.' I tried his recipe right away and those were some of the best eggs I ever tasted!"
It's a bummer, Michelle. Comes to us all, eventually. Ya just gotta get yourself thru it.
If you pay even fleeting attention to the media, you will consider suicide, except you'll be convinced it's unnecessary since we are all about to die from something that's the fault of Trump and white people. Lucky for Obama, she only has to deal with the idea of it and not the real thing. When was the last time she set foot in a black neighborhood?

And how Trump managed to create those killings
depressing.
What would have happened, I wonder, if at some point during his terms, Obama had said "Yes, life is tough sometimes for blacks in America. But we can do so much more than living with past grievances. Set them aside an move forward. Just look at me, and at my family. We are proof enough anyone can make it here in America. I challenge all of you to do your best and see how far you can make it."

"But I think it's fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry," Obama said. "No. 2, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home. And No. 3 — what I think we know separate and apart from this incident — is that there is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately, and that's just a fact."

In a previous thread, I suggested that Ann Althouse's ability to take voluminous amounts of abuse was commendable enough to make up for the sheer inanity of reading the NYT's Kristof after demanding an incredibly high standard of proof from the American right.
I make no such concession here. Mooning and crying over patently cynical manipulation is so pathetic that I can no longer blame the Dems for assuming feminists are soft-headed mongoloids, effortlessly manipulated by the media. Does Michelle Obama even remember being a teenage girl, or did she still have a penis back then? I WAS going to ask if she actually thought her adult daughters were going to be confused with 10-year olds eager to solve jigsaws, or if she only believed her core base was that gullible and retarded. Except I know the answer to both is YES, ABSOLUTELY, because apparently lacking a Y chromosome leaves your critical reading ability on the level of a chimpanzee doped up on sodium pentothal.
And that's before addressing this ugly tranny's feeble attempt to stoke further racial violence against actual Americans and the police. It's why there's no way in hell she'll be anyone's VP: she knows that would mean being compared constantly to Melania Trump on grace, beauty, and intelligence. Which is a fight everyone knows Michelle will lose no matter how many attaboys she gets from the media.
And to think all this could have been avoided if Barack hadn’t been such as ass at the Correspondents’ Dinner.
Isn't Spades kind of a racist name for a card game?
Sucker.
Sideways associations to feelings do not stop no matter how intelligent a woman you are. It's just not suitable for certain things, like running a country. It's great for running a neighborhood.
Inga: "Makes me wish Obama or someone like him were president."
Inga really misses all the weaponized intel agencies spying on republicans as well as the untraceable assault rifles obama gave to the Mexican cartels to kill Americans. She also misses how obama would let in and set free MS13 machete murderers and terrorists.
Inga misses alot of things no normal person would ever miss.
“I know that I am dealing with some form of low-grade depression,” she said.
Low-grade? Her husband used to be president, the least he could do is round up an industrial strength case of depression for her, don't you think?
"I picture Biden finishing a 4 piece jigsaw puzzle. That's depressing:
Biden: "This can't be solved- it is nothing but corner pieces!"
Makes me wish Obama or someone like him were president.
Obama was not any less insulting or obnoxious than Trump is. Not a day went by when Obama did not say something offensive or contemptuous of half the country. Obama simply was not as bombastic as Trump.

Either that or sunsong is today's guest blogger.
Ann, I looked hither and thither for “/sarc”. You vixen you, you made me waste my time.
Most of the problems in the black community are NOT due to the police or false accusations (though of course those exist) but due to single-motherhood, gang culture, lack of interest in books, dropping out of schools, etc. That Michelle does not know that is absurd.
As for the Obamas, under lockdown, doing puzzles at the end of the day-- I imagine that millions of people, reading about that, feel uplift just to picture the beloved family around a table in the evening laughing and talking over a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle.
No comment on the following jurisdoctoral (which seems not to be a word but ought to be) teariness; people's sentimental lives, eh, there's no accounting for them. But I wonder just who regards the Obamas as "the beloved family"? Who 'loved' the Nixons, the Fords, the Reagans, the Bushes, the Bushes, the Carters, the Clintons, or the Obamas? My emotional life is, maybe, insufficiently profound and therefore unable to conceive of such a love.
one of the things I love about the Obamas, is that they love each other

Now, now, Drago. I too look forward to the post-Trump era. Because it's going to be in four years, by which point a lot of Inga's faves will have been strangled to death on meathooks or ropes.
I chuckled that the writer had to clarify that spades was a card game. He probably narrowly avoided a cancelling.
Michelle probably needs something to keep her busy. Perhaps she can try to bring those girls back. Release some more hashtags!
What puzzles do you imagine them doing?
Stave Puzzles. Stave puzzles are very expensive, and the puzzles the Obama's are doing the very expensive Stave puzzles.
...and 'government' probably paid for them all except the one puzzle the Stave people fawningly sent to the Obama's for free. (Stave puzzles are made in VT)
The unintended stroke of genius in this posting:
"Key rule: "The spade suit is always trump."
Brilliant.
Perhaps that was the formal point of the entire exercise?
Oh, please. What are the chances she actually wrote this?
"I am not kidding when I say that typing out that sentence brought tears to my eyes."
You're either a very funny or a very strange chick, Althouse.
"All this goes away" when Trump is out.
extortion. You bet the left and the chi-coms distributed this virus.
The left really are evil.
Althouse: ‘I hear "some form of low-grade depression" to mean that she feels low or sad based on the current conditions, not that she has clinical depression. But perhaps she does, and I would hope that people who suffer from depression feel supported by her words.’
Wha-a-a-t? People who suffer from depression could feel supported by the partisan whining of the millionaire wife of the most undeserving, worst President in decades, if not ever? Seriously? Good lord!
Has idolatry reached that level among the lefties?
Michelle suffers from an intense aversion to truth.
Living so many lies for so long would make anyone sick.
Just thinking about the Obamas makes me depressed.
"And to think all this could have been avoided if Barack hadn’t been such as ass at the Correspondents’ Dinner."
True...and just think how bored we'd be.
one of the things I love about the Obamas, is that they love each other
And did you love that about the Reagans too, sunsong?
1000 bucks to anyone who can translate what Biden is saying.
Come on - someone can do it!
"Obama was not any less insulting or obnoxious than Trump is. Not a day went by when Obama did not say something offensive or contemptuous of half the country."
Why do you think Inga misses him?
The Obamas suffering in a lockdown. Suuuurrre.
"I am not kidding when I say that typing out that sentence brought tears to my eyes." ...
Oh. My. God.
I missed that funny line the first time around; I wonder if Ann Althouse suffers from the medical condition, lachrymose inanity.
Althouse likes to trigger her commentariat with the occasional Obama-worship piece. As she sometimes she seems quite intelligent, it's awfully hard to believe she really means what she writes.
Michelle is pitching the Obama Family Lockdown Special to Netflix.
Mrs. stevew loves to do puzzles, especially with family. Her family growing up did them, though not at night after dinner, usually on vacation or when at their Winnipesaukee lake house.
I hate doing puzzles with other people, and they hate doing them with me. Too controlling and demanding am I. So I watch when others do them and silently laugh as they go about it all wrong. ;-)
Constitutional law question: what would happen if Biden forgets to name a VP candidate, constitutionally speaking?
(Armstrong and Getty)
What a tedious, boring woman. I read through the first sentence and was done.
I know this comment was meant for the post, but seeing it published twice was perfect with regards to where it appeared in the thread.
sunsong:"one of the things I love about the Obamas, is that they love each other"
Interesting note: sunsong was a huuuuuuge backer of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
I'll bet sunsong still thinks that photographer really did elude all those Secret Service agents to snap that "loving" pic of Bill and Hillary dancing on the beach together....(during the Monica incident....where Monica was going to be labeled "insane" by the dems....until Monica threaten to produce "evidence"....which all the lefties denied existed....until they figured out it did).

My Yoga teacher has been completely congruent with what Ajit has posted on Yoga, and the Captain goes into much greater depth than Vince could due to cultural limits.

Michelle needs to stop plagiarizing her whining.
@bleach-bit-and-hammers — thanks for that China/Biden clip. You made my day.
@Meade, yesterday I might have seconded your prediction. But Michelle will be too angry at Joe’s major, massive, humongous slip today — that African Americans (“with notable exceptions”) think as one monolithic group — to hook up with Joe. Besides, she already hated him. Do you suppose Joe considers Michelle or Barack “notable exceptions”? When I first saw the clip, I truly thought it was a parody. I hope Tucker goes to town with that one.
@Althouse, just wondering (if you listened to the entire podcast) whether Michelle ever mentioned the trials and tribulations everyone (even white people!) are experiencing with this virus?
what could be more wholesome than running a shadow government
...after a failed coup attempt?
Net worth $70 million, two healthy daughters, fans all over the world, palatial houses in Kalorama and Martha’s Vinyard, and yet Michelle still has the sadz. It’s always something.
UGLY inside and out. Her husband STARTED the racial strife that she is so upset about. Maybe look in the mirror sometimes and see what you did to America!!! Freaking Progressives always blame others for what they do.
No word on if we are hearing this from their 12 million dollar estate on Martha's Vineyard.
I thought 'climate change' was her biggest worry. I guess this is no longer the case. Such suffering. It will bring tears to decent people's eyes - right? LOL
Hateful Michele is very easy to hate.
I'm hoping that Meade is wrong on this and we won't have to endure Michelle running for VP to aid her in overcoming her depression.
Maybe she wants to move out to the burbs and this is a ploy to buy a property with more land for gardening, her great love. I notice their backyard in DC is pretty small.
I am not kidding when I say that typing out that sentence brought tears to my eyes.
What brings tears to my eyes can be summed up thus:
And now, if e'er by chance I put
My fingers into glue,
Or madly squeeze a right-hand foot
Into a left-hand shoe,
Or if I drop upon my toe
A very heavy weight,
I weep...
--"Haddock's Eyes" by Lewis Carroll
Spades is OK, but Canasta is a real card game, full of drama, heartbreak and adrenaline.
"feels low or sad based on the current conditions"
Only because she did not buy gold at 1200 an Ounce
One of my favorite Rolling Stones songs ever.
As I write, there are 147 comments and only one (Todd, 12:57pm) says even part of what I think is the real reason for her depression:
"I would be more inclined to think that the real weight they are carrying is more about how much trouble he stands to get into when the indictments start coming out. He has no actual fear of prison (mores the shame) but whatever is left of his 'legacy' will be on[c]e and forever trashed."
I agree that Obama is unlikely to go to jail, but I think he will be so absolutely disgraced, as (among many other sins and crimes) the first president to try to fix the election of his successor, that he will be shunned far worse than Nixon, since what he did was far worse than anything Nixon did. Specifically, I predict:
a. His Presidential Monument will never be built. It's already way behind schedule and having problems with local opposition. It's traditional to have a presidential library where scholars can research a presidency, but it's already been revealed that his won't contain any books. Way to encourage Black literacy, dude! Who wants a monument to a contemptible crook? The Nixon Library is useful because it contains books and other records for scholars to research an eventful and fairly successful (though aborted) presidency.
b. He will never have a U.S. Navy ship named after him, and far fewer schools and streets and federal buildings than most presidents. (I think he already has some schools named after him: I wonder how many will change their names when the full story comes out.)
c. He may (and should) lose his presidential pension and even his Secret Service protection.
d. He may (and should) have his and Michelle's horrible portraits removed from the National Portrait Gallery. Or they could just put up captions explaining the aesthetic deficiencies of both and pointing out the small but clearly-depicted sperm crawling on his forehead and connect them to the rumors about his sexuality.
Have I forgotten anything?
Makes me wish Obama or someone like him were president. What a difference it would’ve made in times like now, when Americans need a leader that inspires confidence. I’m looking forward to a post Covid and post Trump America.
Okay Julia...
Does anyone know if the Obamas are suffering through this pandemic at their mansion in DC, the one on Martha's Vineyard or the vacation house in Hawaii? I need that info to properly calibrate my sympathy meter.
@Drago,
"I am sticking with my nearly 3 year prediction that Michelle will be coronated at the Democratic convention"
Greatest.political.prediction.ever!
The high level money/strategy Dem guys are furiously black-boarding and brainstorming on how to make this happen. Mass looting and drooling old white male candidates can only take a party so far.
Most black women would be less depressed if they regularly received a good face fucking from a white cock! I am not Laslo.
From her old neighborhood today:
" A CTA bus was struck by a bullet Wednesday in Gresham on the South Side.
A bullet flew through the bus’s front door about 9 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Eggleston Avenue, Chicago police said."
Can’t they at least play Bid Whist?!
There's a laugh to be had if Michelle's thesis from Princeton ever comes out. That it's been buried by all concerned is the tell. Too stupid to mention.
Sad.
What a tedious, boring woman. I read through the first sentence and was done.
I THINK you mean MO. But that was the post following one from Inga. So now I'm not sure.

Easily the best post of the year.
This story of depression was not printed in the MSM by accident. A Presidential or VP candidate would never hint at being mentally ill or weak in any way. This is a tell that SHE is sitting out the 2020 fray.
I find Michele boring and vapid. I have nothing to say about her.
I'm more interested in the "Jigsaw Puzzle" lyrics. What the hell is a "methylated sandwich?" Do you methylate a sandwich by lighting up a Newport menthol cigarette and exhaling the smoke all over it?
Jagger was straining to come up with Dylaneseque lyrics there (or else he was thinking back to an Existentialism 101 course he took) and it doesn't work.
Jim at is a stupid man.
Jim at is a stupid man.
"A bullet flew through the bus’s front door about 9 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Eggleston Avenue, Chicago police said."
A man was shot outside the Staples Store next to the White Palace Grill in South Loop Chicago yesterday morning, a week day morning. Next to Nordstrom Rack. My wife and I went there almost every weekend before covid. What are these people trying to do to America?? A rapper was killed on Oak Street the other day walking on a street with 2 million dollar houses, but Black lives are cheap here, apparently.
My ex father in law, also an ex WWII 8th air force B24 pathfinder navigator, told me that women run the house and spending and where to go on vacation but let men take care of the important things, like how to hold the Russians at bay.
This thread reveals the deep level to which Trumpists are capable of going. It reads like a KKK bible, a sadomasochistic sexual deviant instruction manual or a murder and mayhem screen play about Trumpists who are living out the last weeks of their cult leader’s political life.
I can’t wait until the day after the election.
I have to say, that waking up to the news, waking up to how this administration has or has not responded, waking up to, yet another, story of a Black man or a Black person somehow being dehumanised, or hurt or killed, or, falsely accused of something, it is exhausting.
Yes, I remember when the Obamas were running the country and each death in their hometown of Chicago weighed on them so personally.
When they weren't at Davos or taking separate vacations on the taxpayer's dime, I mean.
Why is Michelle so despondent?
Aren't we 90-days or so from Joe being elected President so he can fix everything?
"When I read that sentence, I immediately wondered whether the Perfesser has taken a Montreal Cognitive Assessment test recently."
Almost anyone can pass a Montreal Cognitive Assessment test, it is normed for people from Montreal.
"I am not kidding when I say that typing out that sentence brought tears to my eyes."
Seriously!?! You believed this crap?
I think if Biden dramatically names Michelle as his VP, then this too fulfills Drago's prediction.
The over/under on the number of months before Slow Joe gets eased out would be four or five. Heck, they might not even tell Joe - just put him in a different basement of a fancy house. He won't know the difference.
RHHarden at 5:13, i actually read her "thesis" some time ago--it was racist, poorly written, irrational, and would not have passed muster in any decent high school essay assignment.
Yet there she is, a Princeton graduate, Cum Laude no less, and a Harvard JD.
Who says affirmative action doesn't work? Who says systemic racism isn't real??
Cry me a river.
Gag me with a semi-ovular kitchen utensil.
Although a small universe, this is the singularly most pathetic thing I've ever seen Althouse write.
Everytime Michelle remembers the Jussie Smollet attack it reminds her of Althea Bernstein, which of course leads to the Nascar noose and arson and riots.
Inga the Lunatic Leftist Conspiracy Whackjob: "I can’t wait until the day after the election"
Previous notable "I can't wait" Inga proclamations:
I can’t wait until the day after the 2016 election!
I can’t wait until Trump is forced to withdraw before his inauguration!
I can’t wait until Mueller proves the dossier is true!
I can’t wait until the day Michael Cohen cooperates with Mueller!
I can’t wait until the day the Mueller Report comes out!
I can’t wait until the day Flynn flips on Trump!
I can’t wait until Trump is voted out during impeachment!
I can’t wait until Eric Ciaramello's bestest buddy and potential Ukrainian Defense Minister Vindman testifies!
I can’t wait until the day Trump has to withdraw and not run for reelection!
Of course, there are hundreds more....and then still more.
"Net worth $70 million, two healthy daughters, fans all over the world, palatial houses in Kalorama and Martha’s Vinyard"
And how did they "earn" that?
"Public servant" is a strange term. Imagine how much more they would have gained if they had them some of that white privilege.
Look back at which Presidents gained the most financially from their "public service" and which party they were in. For Democrats rags to riches is a political story.
Inga: "This thread reveals the deep level to which Trumpists are capable of going. It reads like a KKK bible..."
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Inga The Helpless writes this on the very day her hero Joe Biden declared explicitly that black people do not have any diversity of thought.
According to Dementia Joe and Demented Inga, ALL black people think alike!!
The KKK could not have said it better.
Congrats Inga! You and your Dear Leader Dementia Joe have Out-KKK-ed the actual KKK!
Not to worry Inga. Thats going to show up in lots and lots of commercials so you will have the opportunity to relive that magic moment over and over again.
FullMoon: "Everytime Michelle remembers the Jussie Smollet attack it reminds her of Althea Bernstein, which of course leads to the Nascar noose and arson and riots."
Interesting note: both Inga and LLR-lefty Chuck STILL believe Jussie was attacked by MAGA Country and that it was an actual noose in the NASCAR garage.

Both would quit within 5 minutes.
