I watched a lot of short video's the past 24hrs, and the turkey one with the voice was the most unexpectedly enjoyable. So hard sometimes to choose wisely what is worth while to spend a little time on.
I stopped my car for a flock of turkeys recently. They surrounded the car and wouldn't budge. It was a bit unsettling, with them all just staring. I found out later someone's been stopping in that stretch, feeding them from a car.
Weird...I did not associate your voice with your profile photo. Where did you grow up?
The first time I met a famous radio personality (who never did TV back in the day) I was shocked. I was working at a hotel and he came to give a speech of some sort. My mom listened to him all the time and so had I, for my entire life. He had a killer radio voice and I imagined him as a handsome, devil-may-care bon vivant.
He was late, parked in the fire lane, saw my uniform, threw me his keys, and asked me to please move it for him. I knew he was coming and so I immediately recognized his voice.
He had a gray beard (that I never imagined), retro '70s (this was the '80s) 'porn' glasses, and was about fifty pounds overweight. It was weird.
Of course after that I imagined him as he really was, and it made perfect sense.
I had the sound muted during the Turkey video because I has the Sirius/XM channel "Deep Tracks" playing in the background. It was Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Little Wing/Third Rock From The Sun".
As soon as you (and the turkeys) sped up the song started "whooshing" and speeding up.
So cool I flashed back to Dark Side Of The Moon and Wizard Of Oz.
I live in Madison as well and have packs of turkeys that are in my neighborhood. And once those turkeys are grown, they would be chasing you and not running away. Walking my little corgi, when she barks at a pack of turkeys, they cross the road towards her until we get away.

That's how the Boston Marathon feels...
...and you're right about the guarding. If you see a bunch of turkeys in the open they switch off guard duty but there's always one with his head up..
That was a big family. I wonder if we'll get evidence of expanding animal populations because we've all been hiding...
Glad those turkeys didn't turn on Althouse and peck her. Was Meade there to protect his wife?
The "he" guarding the poults was a hen.
Millipede. Not an insect.
Runner Privilege meets Turkey collective. Loved it.
Turkeys are birds?
And birds were dinosaurs, right?
(First scene.)
“Was Meade there to protect his wife? “
Of course. Smith too. Also... Wesson.

We had a flock of turkeys like that. Then a pair of coyotes moved nearby and had a litter of pups.
Turkeys can be mean and peck. You did the correct thing and not scare them. Big family!!!
When turkeys attack.

Turkeys in the path, turkeys in the weeds . . .
Were there turkeys in the trees, swinging by their knees?
Very well-handled, Prof.
Narr
Did it remind you of the classroom, a little?
Funny how certain sounds are horrible to different people. That crunching gravel sound is horrible. Almost nauseating.
Ann Althouse. Turkey wrangler.
And the obligatory, " As god is my witness. I thought turkeys could fly."
I love the sound your feet make when you're running. It's very different from the sound your feet make when walking.
Now I want to record myself running just for the sound. It's mesmerizing to hear it through the speakers.
Animals using our roads is blatant appropriation.

I remembering listening to Walter E. Williams sitting in for Rush with his big, booming voice and expected a black, rotund Orson Welles in my mind.
Of course it turns out he was tall and thin as a rail.
Creature encountered..
Woolly Bear caterpillar, which may also be known as a Wooly Bully.
Rule I had to learn to practice law in DC: Don't let the turkeys get you down.
