This guy. I love his energy, enthusiastic, no fucks approach. It is so refreshing a change from the unctuous faux seriousness of his predecessors.

No, not really. Just Trump casually tossing some chum overboard to the media piranhas.

I've seen some nice double decker tour busses that have been turned into RV's. Lots of square footage. Just give it a gold paint job, and I could see Trump joining the nomad movement.

Cillizza plumbs new depths of stupidity everyday. Actually, Trump driving an RV across the real America would be a brilliant move. Like a long running campaign bus tour without any rushing.

Melania once mentioned that Donald has a great sense of humor. She probably LOL'd at that one.

CNN just can’t help themselves, when they pretend to fact check Trump.

I've read that Clarence Thomas and his wife travel the country in an RV every summer, parking at Walmarts in small towns, and no one has ever recognized him.

clint said...

I can't find that line in the transcript, but it makes me smile reading it. The desire to get out of D.C. and just drive around the country has to be very relatable to a lot of people after ten weeks of lockdown. It sounds great to me, and I don't have the media screaming at me and "peaceful protesters" injuring five dozen of my body guards.

My favorite line, not included by CNN:
Question: "What's your plan [for systemic racism]?"
Answer: "Because our country is so strong, and that’s what my plan is. We’re going to have the strongest economy in the world. We almost are there now. We had the strongest economy anywhere in the world, and now we’re going to have an economy that’s even stronger."

Adjusting for style, that's a Ronald Reagan answer right there.

And then there's #21. Good grief. What Trump said: "Equal justice under the law must mean that every American receives equal treatment in every encounter with law enforcement, regardless of race, color, gender or creed, they have to receive fair treatment from law enforcement. They have to receive it. We all saw what happened last week. We can’t let that happen. Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying, “This is a great thing that’s happening for our country.” This is a great day for him. It’s a great day for everybody. This is a great day for everybody. This is a great, great day in terms of equality. It’s really what our constitution requires and it’s what our country is all about."

What CNN said that Trump said: "Just to be crystal clear at what Trump is saying here: George Floyd, who died at the hands of Minneapolis police officers late last month, is looking down from heaven, seeing the jobs numbers, and saying, "There's a great thing that's happening for our country." Yes. It's beyond belief."

Beyond belief indeed.

12. "We'll have the greatest -- we'll go back to having the greatest economy anywhere in the world; nothing close."
CNN: You can't go back to something that didn't exist.

Trump is right — from around 1880 forward, the U.S. economy has been the greatest economy of any nation in history. And for reasons not fully understood, the booms have kept getting larger and the busts keep getting softer. Over all, throughout history, there has never been a better time to be a human being living in the material world.

I do not love this man, but he sure is something else. If he can save us from Pelosi and Schumer (with a side order of Biden, or whoever), he will earn my undying gratitude.

The fact is in November the choice will be between the reckless, chaotic, scheming, calculating huckster who has tried to do what he said he would, and the Democrats and all their works with a failing, faltering figurehead, who was neither intelligent nor honest at his best.

All the rest is noise.

And CNN really is... fake.

No, the department of state departments will forbid this.

OK, let's see who wants to discard all the things they would not have if they lived in the mid 70's

Computers,
Big screen TV,
Cell phones,
Internet,
All the improvements in safety, quality, reliability, and functionality of cars,
Instant information from all over the world at your fingertips,
Thousands of more choices in nearly everything you might choose to own,
The ability to shop for the best price, on virtually anything in the world, buy it and have it shipped to you in a day without leaving your home,
Much cleaner water and air
and on and on.

All these things are available, even to people of poverty level income today while none of it was available to even the rich in the 70's.

On second thought, I can't imagine anyone less appropriate camping out than Donald Trump. You see, that makes him almost the opposite of me, yet I can still appreciate the man's qualities and accomplishments, and vote for him. Hell, he's a teetotaler, and I'm an alcoholic, or trying my best. I don't care if I can sit and have a beer with him, or if he likes people like me. That affects nothing important. All I care about is does that dog hunt?

Howard,

Would you be willing to take your wrinkled ass back to 1970 for good if I offered you a time trip? How many alive right now would take that deal? While there is no doubt a few weirdos would want that, pretty much no one else would take it based on just on the fall in living standards alone.

So now we know that Joe Biden isn't the only candidate who has age-related mental problems. The man who is surrounded by armed guards at all times and is transported in a vehicle with more protection devices and armor than an Army tank (except when he is on the golf course) is now going to ride around in an aluminum-sided RV with his lovely wife awaitinng the first shot from an RPG or bumping into an IED.

"I don't think anyone would mind that." No - Trump isn't funny as in haha but ridiculous lies roll easily and often off his tongue.

Howard, you cretinous buffoon:

Which of these things could you use or buy NO MATTER HOW RICH YOU WERE in 1970:

Personal Computers
Internet access to the World Wide Web
**Inexpensive** cars with front-wheel drive, 100,000 mile warranty, A/C, and multiple entertainment systems
cellphones (actually hand-held supercomputers)
CAT scans
MRI machines
4K UHD TVs
Inexpensive jet air travel anywhere you want to go
Skype, Zoom and Facetime allowing you to communicate by VIDEO all over the planet (no long-distance calls
Foods from all over the world, in every season and low prices. NO supermarket on earth in 1970 could offer the variety of foods that it routinely does today.

That's just a start.

Then let's consider life expectancies:

1970 Both sexes: 70.8 years
2020 Both sexes: 79.3 years

Ya think our better quality of life isn't reflected in how much longer we are living???? How there's far less back-breaking labor? How medical technologies haven't extended our lives?

Howard is half right, as is often the case.

Inflation, thanks to the 1974 DEMOCRAT Congress, blew the lid off prices.

In 1968, I bought a new Mustang convertible for $3050. $95 down and 95 a month.

In 1969, I bought a three bedroom one bath house in South Pasadena for $35,000. House payments were $204 a month.

That house, the last time I checked, was priced at $1.4 million.

That's what happened thanks to LBJ and the 1974 (Watergate) Democrats.

Howard screwed the pooch big time.

Just define the metric you want to use to measure personal wealth and compare today to 1970. You invent the metric. You plug in the numbers. You prove your own statement.

Insta guy has covered this ground. Commenters up thread have pointed out multiple riches enjoyed by all that desire to participate.
That 40 year old girl working full time at the dollar store? Super computer in her bra, 65" tv at home, 60 channels of entertainment, with an antenna. She can probably stream youtube videos for 2 hours a day, with the minimum data plan. Pork roast $.99 per pound. Fresh fruits and vegetables at her fingertips,(if the race hustlers didn't burn her local store down.) The worlds richest Kings could not enjoy this level decadence, 200 years ago.

We discovered Downton Abbey while in quarantine. I told my wife we live a more pampered life than the Earl of Downton. No, we dont have a man servant to put in my cuff links. But I'm so rich I have created privacy. An extravagance foreign to the richest, 200 years ago

How rich are we?

I cannot honestly get my head around this ostentatious display.

Presumably neither Meade nor Howard care about data, but Meade is correct. Total compensation cost (adjusted for inflation) of hiring a worker has increased by over 30% since 1981. The rate of increase seems to have slowed -- from .8% (.008) from 1981 to 2005 to .4% (.004) from 2005 to 2020. But the growth is still positive, not negative or zero as Howard seems to think.

I don't believe in the stork. As a doctor I am sure you know sleeping together is a euphemism. (And the immaculate conception isn't what you think it is. Mary was conceived the same way as we and Barron were.)

mtrobertslaw said...

That is true about Justice Thomas and his RV. He also likes visits truck stops. He worked as a diesel mechanic in the summer while he was in college. Thanks for reminding us all of some of the insane things you moron lefties were claiming about Melania and DJT in early 2017: That Melania was an illegal alien, Melania had once been an escort, Barron wasn't the child of DJT (very Andrew Sullivan-Sarah Palin), Melania would never move in with Trump, Melania doesn't sleep with DJT, Melania was going to divorce DJT, Barron has mental issues, Barron was a future serial killer.
