This is what your friends have always thought of those of us with the "wrong" views, Professor Althouse. Nice centrist people like yourself tend not to notice, but the Left thinks it's good sport to use violence for their political ends any time they decide a belief/cause is "important enough."
I do wonder, sometimes, what nice centrist people who spent their lives teaching the Left-approved belief system to young people think about when they see evidence, like this, of the fruit the efforts have produced.
The Left owns the universities, high schools, elementary schools, kids' TV shows...all of it. The generation pulling down statues now are the children of the children of the group the Left first got their claws in. The "feelings, not rational thought" ethos is now so firmly entrenched they can barely recognize, must less actually consider, any opposing points of view.
Oh well.
