"... according to his husband, Zachary Baron Shemtob.... Asked if the doctors had talked about or know Lat’s prognosis, Shemtob responded, 'It’s a bit much for me right now.... I just want to folks to know that he is so strong; he is hanging in there, and we are praying he’ll recover.... Any thoughts or prayers people have are much appreciated... Please be vigilant and careful as possible....It’s really important to get that message'...."

«सर्वात जुने ‹थोडे जुने 209 पैकी 201 – 209Michael: Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds inspiring. My husband was British and, though just a young lad when the war broke out and he didn't live in London, he remembered the sacrifices everyone in England made during those perilous times [In case you wonder, he was sixteen years my senior ;-) ].
I recommend The Great Influenza by John Barry for an understanding of the Great Influenza of 1918-1919 and the development of the modern American research university. It shows how far we have come in 100 years.
Amadeus is absolutely right. We are going to win this war, this total war, this world war. We will win, we will re-elect this great President and we will make our country greater than ever. I love America and Americans.
Hear, hear, Meade!
Spiros,
Washing everything and cleaning everything is a good short-term activity. Good for them. They're doing productive things and following sound advice. I believe they would do that if they were going to work, also.
And that's how we stop diseases without cratering an economy on which we all depend.
Meade--I love America and Americans, too, for lots of reasons.
Throwing out bogus "millions of people are going to die", is just someone panicking. From what I can see, it doesn't matter how many people contact this latest flu, it will kill very few people.
Approximately 7,452 people die every day in the United States.
There were a total of 17,284 reported murder and non-negligent manslaughter cases in the U.S. in 2017.
More people will be murdered than will die from this flu, would be my guess.
If you read the article, it explains that he has exercise-induced asthma. A condition that already sometimed makes it difficult for him to breathe even without the virus.
This is very late on my part -- a year late, actually -- but thanks to Ann and all of you for your prayers and good wishes. I remain very, very grateful.
