I realize, writing "Trump at the Taj Mahal," that it needs some clarification like "the one in India." Anyway, I enjoy the raw footage... scroll to the parts you like... lots of Trump and Melania getting ready to be seen, with Trump adjusting his jacket and Melania moving her hair back in place...

The Taj Mahal is the only tomb with a men's room.
Whenever I see the Taj Mahal I think of Richard Halliburton swimming in the reflecting pool. Or so he claimed. I should reread The Royal Road to Romance to see if my memory is playing tricks on me.
Trump in Paris -- you know, the place in France.
Trump wants to subdivide.
Not fan of the yellow tie, the gold one he wore in Vegas was a good look.
Ivanka and Jared pop up later in the video
Our foreign allies love Trump! (heh).
This Taj Mahal gives him good material for future campaign riffs.
Melania has good hair.
Obama only got crowds like this in Muslim countries and Germany.
Hmmm...
Actually Obama never got crowds like this.
I'm probably the first to notice, but that is a beautiful structure.
The first lady ain't bad either.
I'm worried that the Taj Mahal will be forced to declare bankruptcy 14 months after a Donald Trump visit. Because Fred Trump won't be around to bail it out.
There's a Taj Mahal in Paris (the one in Tennessee) and the food is supposed to be really good.

Mexican and Thai were getting old
Melania looks fantastic in that white jumpsuit.
LLR-lefty and Sudden Onset Socialist Chuck: "I'm worried that the Taj Mahal will be forced to declare bankruptcy 14 months after a Donald Trump visit. Because Fred Trump won't be around to bail it out."
LOLOLOLOLOL
Yep.
That is literally all the lefties have left.
The democrat political talking point cupboard is bare. Oh so very bare.
Bit of advice for Chuck and the rest of the dems: its never too early to start working on the 2024 campaign.
What I like most about Trump's Presidency is how he has shrunk his political opponents.
LLR-lefty Chuck has become microscopic.
Don't worry Chuck. There will always be room in Adam Schiff's waist coat pocket for you.
chuck: I read all the Richard Halliburton books! Thanks for the memory! Completely forgot about him.
Get Trump a Nehru Jacket
I remember the "good old days" when the First Lady came barging out of Air Force One wearing wrinkled Bermuda shorts and tee shirt that looked like she'd slept in it.
Melania was a model; she is a clothes horse---but what clothes and what style. Always easy on the eyes and that's a good thing. She also either doesn't have much to say, or the press isn't quoting her. I can live with that.
Indian food is terrific. Toss it all together, mix it up, eat it with that heavenly puffy bread.
It looks like hell, but tastes great.
(In Soviet Russia Voice) In Trump India, Brahma Businessman Trump helps you discover yourself and reach higher plane of enlightenment.
The most amusing aspect of LLR-lefty Chuck's post is that you just know he was sitting in front of his computer, looking at pictures of millions of Indians celebrating Trump with the beautiful Melania beside him, and then Chuck, in another of his seemingly endless spittle-flecked Rage Moments, just HAD to "attack" in some way. ANY way he could to relieve that destructive inner rage.

Wow, that brings back memories. That was one of the first books my mother ever gave me, it having been a big favorite from her own childhood.
The monkeys must have behaved themselves since there are no headlines reporting that the Trumps were assaulted by them. Perhaps the langurs helped, not that the article explains why it was thought that the langurs would prove useful.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have for the first time given mud-cap treatment to the graves of Emperor Shahjahan and Empress Mumtaz Mahal.
My fickle attention has been diverted from the monkeys to whatever 'mud-cap treatment for graves' might be.

I did, too. Loved them and read them over and over.
It appears to me that Trump favors his right leg as he walks. Is that a new thing or has he always done that? And if his right leg is painful, for whatever reason, could that partly explain why he is overweight? I seem to remember that he does not workout in an organized manner.
@skeptical voter
Melania's a pretty, nice girl
But she doesn't have a lot to say
Melania's a pretty, nice girl
She changes from day to day
Wanna tell her I love her a lot
Just to make the liberals whine
Melania's a pretty, nice girl
Someday they'll appreciate her mien
Halliburton, like Tennessee Williams, had close connections here; he was an older alum of my father's and aunt's alma mater and his papers are there.
He's credited with essentially inventing modern travel writing, at least by some. I read most of his stuff as a kid--but only once.

He had cojones
My dad passed on his books to me when I was about 10.
Chuck is devolving into gadfly. It’s sad.
Yes, Richard had monster cojones. Thus, I think, my father's recommendation. Boy do I miss him.
Also loved the Mark Tidd series, if anyone remembers that.
BTW, Mark Tidd and the Citadel was the inspiration for Home Alone, by John Hughes, a high school classmate.
To beat a nearly dead horse, does anyone else remember Mark Tidd besides John Hughes [RIP] and I?
Mark Tidd was a boy-book series. The only copy I still have is Mark Tidd Manufacturer, published in 1918. There were nine books in the series then. The Home Alone book was Mark Tidd's Citadel.
Memories….
This visit is not about Trump, but about India coming up big time after abandoning fashionable brahmin caste socialism and going for brawling capitalist development.
For Modi and his party, a BFD indeed!
And notice the pageantry they are giving him; not just all American, but Trumpian American.
It is really quite extraordinary!
I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I don't think Melania is all that hot. From the neck down, sure. But her face is just ok. But then I lived in eastern Europe for several years and saw dozens of women who were better looking every single day.
"Always the negative waves, Chuckie, always with the negative waves".
Big Boys Don't Cry.
The Trumps are such good PR for America!
None of PDJT's wives have been all that beautiful of face IMO; our tastes differ in many things.

Not bad for a FLOTUS but that's a low bar

Younger folks need to think about the the effect of physical ailments on Septuagenarians. I would bet that he has a common peroneal nerve (a branch of the sciatic nerve) dysfunction leading to loss of movement or sensation in the foot and leg. Impaired sciatic nerves can often bring severe pain from the small of the back to the end of the big toe in one or both legs.
We can't ignore Trump's secretive visit to Walter Reed recently - nor can we ignore too many burnt steaks. But I personally like to imagine that Trump woofs down opiod painkillers without normal limits because he is Donald after all.
Say what you want about first ladies, but compare Melania to Obama and BJ Clinton's first ladies.
Aunty Trump: "Chuck is devolving into gadfly. It’s sad."

Yep.

Remember, gadfly attempted to launch his/her/xer's own blogsite some time back and was using Althouseblog to try and drum up readers from here to go visit the loser website.
Do we really have to be explicit about the results of that effort?
LOL

Someone gave me Royal Road for about my 12th birthday.
It made a lasting impression on me.
I remember him swimming in the pool too.
I think the thing that impressed me most was AngkorWat which had been discovered not long before he visited. First time I'd heard of it. Even in the 60s it was still very mysterious.
I also liked his accounts of Tibet. Here too it had only been about 20 years since the first Europeans (Younghusband) had visited Lhasa. Still unspoiled.
He did mention being disappointed by not being able to find a Burger King

How many creditors lost money in the Taj Mahal bankruptcy?
Got any names? I'm sure the demmies paraded them all but I think my tv was on the Fritz that day.
Did any creditors lose money in his other 3 bankruptcies?
Got any names?

If you've seen one Taj, you've seen Mahal.
And if you've *heard* one Taj?
Did they stop at Garage Mahal? Where is he anyway?
But I personally like to imagine that Trump woofs down opiod painkillers without normal limits because he is Donald after all.
The guy who has never drunk or smoked and asshole gadfly has him on drugs.
Haha Unknown!

Trump should clean his gun in Oval Office.
Classiest first lady since Jackie.
Hope you continue to recover, Mike S. A long road sometimes.
That's how I want to see the Taj Mahal: without all of the fucking tourists. And I didn't know the current First Lady was so stacked. All I remember about Lady Obama was her big ass and her resting bitch face.
