rcocean म्हणाले...

Twerking is but one choreographic gesture within bounce. Twerking traces its origins to the West African dance called Mapouka, which has existed for centuries. In 2013, "What is Twerking" became the top "What is" search on the Google search engine.

"According to Kelechi, twerking is more than shaking your bum, it is a feminist movement that she uses to empower the women who come to her studio. "Dance, it’s a channel that you can use to express so much: joy, pain, sadness, you can express so much through it so I started to use that as a way of really communicating the things I felt there were really no words for," Kelechi says"

White woman expresses concern for the unhealthy fatitude of a grotesquely obese black woman; in this day and age you'd think some hijinks would ensue, but they didn't. Oh, well.

She said play the flute.

It's not dirty, it's from Firesign Theater.

Leland म्हणाले...

I don't celebrate Lizzo's music because picks an obnoxious key with bad chords. Then there is the normal syncopated rhythm that is the mathematical money for modern Pop and the death of good music writing. But in a rainbow world, I suppose Michael's can criticize music based on food preferences.

Fernandinande म्हणाले...

Jillian Michaels apologizes for not celebrating the black body of an obese black woman: "As I've stated repeated, we are all beautiful, worthy and equally deserving."

Like the beautiful Qassem Solemani, ferinstance, who was probably a "plus size" twerking fashion model in his younger days.

"Twerk and play the flute"?

Now why didn't I think of that? It's probably playing the flute that really puts that routine - and a career - over-the-top, I bet. And here I was, just twerkin' for my supper. Oh well:

"Everything I dislike about my ex-wife gets fixed by Donald Trump" so I don't see why Lizzo should be any different:

Enjoy it while it lasts, Girl - you're done.

Long story short: Back-in-the-day, Prince - who lived in Minneapolis - discovered (despite his many talents) he couldn't rap, so first he secretly released "The Black Album" before he started collecting really "black" blacks to make his act look more authentic, with Lizzo being one of the last before he died.

Lucid-Ideas म्हणाले...

Years and years ago before OKC (OKCupid) was purchased by Match.com they would run fairly detailed and statistics based on the user base and algorithm that would routinely punch holes in common myths surrounding relationships, sex, and romance. These would cause quite a bit of controversy because much of this info was pretty data heavy and facts ultimately don't care about your feelings. Once match.com purchased them this A) stopped and B) the old info was carefully curated and some of it deliberately memory-holed.

One thing I remember was romantic desirability by race. Now the link I found below you should take with a grain of salt because there are fakes out there and once they got bought they stopped collecting this data (roundabouts 2014).

https://www.reddit.com/r/OkCupid/comments/7p9mwu/okcupid_reply_rate_by_race_and_gender/

Ultimately what the data showed was that black women occupied the very bottom of the sexual marketplace hierarchy, that they sent more messages to any and all races (men and women) than other demos, and they replied most often to any message from any sender. I.E. Desperation. Facts don't care about your feelings, and I do feel bad for black women compared to their spoiled-for-choice competition. But I have a theory this is where a lot of the 'angry black woman' stuff is coming from. It appears to me it's either an undersexed demo or a demo that's not have the sex they'd like to be having with the right kind of people.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

Black people don't go anywhere because we don't feel free to roam, simple as that. I'll leave the why of that to your always illuminating imaginations.

Black people are free to go anywhere, and they do. I've lived all over the country. Blacks can safely travel anywhere without fear. You're lying, Crack.

Blacks, however, are ferociously racist and threaten anybody who dares to enter "their" neighborhoods. See the current attacks on the Hasidim in Williamsburg and Crown Heights in Brooklyn. The inter-racial violence and intimidation is entirely one sided, and entirely committed by blacks. DOJ crime statistics prove this.

Black gangs terrorizing whites and Asians render some districts of every city in the U.S. off limits to Hasidim, whites and Asians.

Not really. It's more like, after centuries of being starved by whites, heavy (naturally) looks "healthy".

I've said it before: whites can appear to like Auschwitz or something, worshipping the "Carrie Bradshaw" look, reflecting a long-standing "Sex In The City" lifestyle of leisure at other's expense. They just look frail.

Blacks do generally steer clear of drug addicts, though. That much is true.

See, since it was because of Haiti freeing itself that we were able to make the Louisiana Purchase, I can't understand why we let the French charge Haiti reparations for the loss of their slaves - the Haitians.

Except for the fear, felt here, that the Haitian uprising might cause an American one, so it was best to let the theft go through, keep the island poor, and make it an example to everyone of what happens when blacks start getting "big ideas" like strolling the planet like men.

First of all, "the island" isn't poor. The Dominican Republic and Haiti share the same island. While Haiti has been a basket case since the beginning, the Dominican Republic is one of the strongest economies in the Caribbean.

Spiros म्हणाले...

In a Q and A, Sabrina Strings was asked "how society arrived at the contemporary ideal of slenderness." She responded:

[F]at phobia is not based on health concerns. What I found in my research is that in the West, it’s actually rooted in the trans-Atlantic slave trade and Protestantism. In the trans-Atlantic slave trade, colonists and race scientists suggested that black people were sensuous and thus prone to sexual and oral excesses. Protestantism encouraged temperance in all pleasures, including those of the palate. By the early 19th century, particularly in the US, fatness was deemed evidence of immorality and racial inferiority.

Because she knows what sells to a daytime TV audience. The audience is mostly affluent white women who are housewives or unemployed blacks. That's why you're options for daytime TV are Ellen or a bunch of black judge shows. Oprah's genius was that she was able to appeal to both of these groups. Folks like Ricki Lake or Maury Povich never quite figured out the formula. That's why Maury's show turned into, "By a confidence of 99.99%, you are.....NOT the father!"

I'd be more sympathetic to this argument if blacks were uniformly oppressed. But they are not. Many blacks live middle-class and upper-class lifestyles. So what separates these blacks from the ones that remain mired in the permanent underclass? The three things people have to do to avoid poverty are: (1) finish high school (2) get and keep any job (3) not have children out of wedlock. In 1960, a quarter of black babies were born out of wedlock. Today it is almost three-quarters. How does slavery/Jim Crow explain this phenomenon, unless your argument is that the effects of slavery/Jim Crow are more salient now than they were in 1960.

Something like 6-8mm blacks dead in the Congo in the past 20 years.

500m to 1mm murdered in a few months in Rwanda. Blacks by blacks.

And in the us, how many blacks have been killed by whites in any period one might care to pick over the past 150 years or so?

And how many blacks killed by whites in the same period?

100mm blacks sold into slavery in 900-1900 almost all by other blacks. The lucky ones, a million or so, got shipped to what is now the us. Lucky only by comparison. I do not intend in any way to minimize the horror of slavery even in the US.

Ethnically there is not a lot of difference between Haitians and Dominicans.

Put 100 of each together and nobody could tell them apart except for language.

Someone mentioned 30 years of Duvalier. Horrible horrible person.

But a day at the beach compared to rafael Trujillo who ruled the Dr for 30 years. Succeeded by his former puppet for 20 years, Balaguer who was almost as bad.

One country eventually reformed, at least somewhat. The other has gotten worse, by all measures.

@John Henry:

That is not exactly true. Haitians are largely sub-Saharan African in ancestry with very little admixture from other populations. Dominicans, on the other hand, are largely a European people but with significant sub-Saharan African (about 30%) and indigenous American (about 10%) admixtures.

p.s. That is why in terms of human development, Haiti is much closer to countries like Djibouti, Malawi, and Ethiopia, while Dominican Republic is much closer to countries like Peru or Ecuador.

I spent most of my adulthood in Chicago where there were cultural aspects of inner-city Black culture that were problematic.

I like living in Portland, the whitest metro in America, where the most problematic thing is that there's not enough Blacks that everyone can have a Black friend. Of course, we have a higher proportion of white criminals. Which is also good for Black people in Portland because white dudes do a lot less crime in the hood than Black dudes do in white neighborhoods.

Is it most PC to capitalize Black and not white?

In America, how can anyone ask this question?

It reflects an ignorance so profound and blinkered as to be appalling.

Here's a sad fact that no one wants to admit. In this world, no one wants Africans among them. What has God wrought among this population? Nowhere on this earth are Africans accepted. It is not for anyone else to mitigate. It is. You can have your Oprahs, and your Jayzees. The French welcome African-Americans, the rich ones, anyway, Marvin Gaye. Americans give them a chance, but no one wants them. Imagine a life on this world that Satan rules, that YOU are immediately rejected. Black. black. Good BBQ. Jazz. Sweet people. It's a puzzle. It's not racism. There's something happening here, What it is, ain't exactly clear.
