Coots (and a dog) in the sunrise.

Just now...

A mud hen morning.

What's that other thing that swims into the lower left frame at about 00:10 and crosses to lower center until the camera swings to the dog? A muskrat?

Madison muskrats love mud hen mornings on Mendota.

Madison muskrat love.

Just beautiful. I had a white part-Samoyed dog once. He flashes across the back of mind still, especially in winter. He loved to lie in icy water.

Cooters at dawn.

My dog (on leash) had a rare two-fox morning today. He barked his head off, would have woked the whole neighborhood if it was a time of year when people have their windows open.

I saw a river otter on the south shore of Mendota a few weeks ago, on one of those super cold mornings we had in November.

False advertising. I didn't see a single old person at all.

This ol’ coot went outside to see the sunrise, but it was raining.

I can't tell what the swimming creature is, but I did see a river otter on the shore near that spot a few days ago. The shape of the head is clearly different on a muskrat and a river otter, but I can't see the head on that mostly submerged animal. River otter sounds nicer!

Walked the daughter’s dog this AM and got the dreaded unprepared for second poop. Damn.

It's not the muskrat's fault they're called muskrats.

For those who were wondering, my dog always...rings twice, so to speak, three times if he's feeling ambitious, though third one is usually rather modest.
Presentation is also important, apparently. He like to place them up high, where they won't be missed by other dogs who may come along, like on top of a rock or stump or clump. Sometimes it just rolls off, but sometimes he nails it.

The subject matter has degraded a bit.

My younger lab is a three bag dog. The day he hit five I decided that he does it on purpose, parceling out the joy to the entire neighborhood.

Muskrat is a fine moniker, no worse than otter FWIW.

I could make an effort to catch sunrise if I didn't have to drive to a nice viewpoint like Audubon Park with its lakes and wetlands.

Our black dackel refuses to walk in the morning when it's too cold (<32) or too wet (light drizzle). After a few hours I have to take him bodily and drop him in the middle of the back yard, where he looks resentfully at me over his shoulder . . . and does his duty.

I ended up with the Step-Monster's Samoyed for her last year and a half. "Oh, we'll be back in a month" No. Nice dog (except when she saw a squirrel), but she peed (once only) on every carpet in the house. When her kidneys failed at 15, she walked around the house for 24 hours straight before I finally made her lie down and took her to the vet when they opened.

One of our local pet waste company is named "Doodie Calls". Nuff said.

Tank,

I’ve taken to taking 2 bags whenever I walk my daughter’s dog; before that, I used to drop the first bag as a marker beside the 2nd turd while I went to get another bag.

We have a poop bag dispenser attached to the leash that contains a whole roll of bags. Aren't they available everywhere.

DavidD বলেছেন...

We don’t buy bags; our bags say “Walmart” or “Kroger” on them.

I have a bag container clipped to the leash, but I have two dogs that get walked separately everyday. I (my dogs) go through 4 or 5 bags a day. I have to carry a few emergency bags because this is a hot button issue in our neighborhood. I understand though, it’s a matter of cleanliness and respect.
