I saw that John Kennedy was trending on Twitter, and it's a little early in November for the annual meditation on the long-ago assassination.

But it's not that John Kennedy. Took me a few minutes to absorb that there's nothing about the John Kennedy whose death mindscaped our generation. I was wondering why I'm seeing a Trump rally. But it was this guy, this John Kennedy:

Ha! A Canadian calling someone dumb after they just voted for the Blackface Cosplayer. Too stupid to appreciate irony.

The way you can tell if somebody is really intelligent is by how good looking they are. It’s instinctive, right? that’s also how you can know if you should trust them. Good looking people always have everybody’s best interest at heart.

SO apparently it's your FRONT teeth that are the wisdom teeth? And I always assumed it was those extra molars. Think I'll sue my dentist.

Pelosi isn’t up to the job. She’s lost about five steps. Not sure she’s still even a useful villain for the GOP. The Squad are more useful, but Pelosi isn’t as dumb as they are.

Such miserable, nasty people are the folks that say this stuff. And I'm not referring to this Kennedy fella.

Another example of that superior liberal wittiness we're always hearing about.

I don't think Pelosi is that dumb, but her view of the Speaker's role seems to be somewhat like that of the commander of the Light Brigade: "Theirs not to question why, theirs but to do and die."
And into the valley of death rode the 600.

I didn't know what to make of Kennedy when I first saw him.

Took a while, but I've come to think of him as one of the wittiest people on the political scene.

Don't try to be Trump. You'll just come across as an asshole.

I actually think this Kennedy guy is talking down to Trump's audience by speaking to them in this way. He doesn't understand them and their unique relationship to Trump. He hasn't yet earned the right to talk to them like he's an old friend. He's being too familiar. He probably doesn't talk that way anywhere else.
When I was young I worked at a gas station. I had to wear a shirt with my name embroidered on it. I used to hate it when some guy, who hadn't even introduced himself, would go out of his way to keep addressing me by my first name. It was condescending. Something about this Kennedy clip made me think of that.
He's just trying to jerk the audience off, which makes him a jerk off.

This was not his best zinger.
But I instinctively like the man.
He seems ok to me.

He's actually quite intelligent and articulate but he has a--gasp!--Southern accent, so let's label him an ignorant deplorable.

I agree. Not Kennedy's best. Dispensing home-spun wisdom is his bailiwick.

Shows the skill Trump has with large audiences and messaging.

Liberals: Southerners are rednecks, with bad teeth and are stupid and uneducated. And they marry their cousins.

They've been pushing that nonsense for my whole lifetime. And still find it funny. Pathetic. But then they've been telling the same Trump insults, every single day, for over 4 years. I think many liberal/leftists are brain damaged.

tim maguire म्हणाले...

I'm so sick of people insulting the intelligence of people they disagree with merely because they disagree. You don't get to be speaker of the House by being dumb. John Kennedy would have to be pretty stupid to not know that.

Even worse that Kennedy, PDJT had Phil Robertson say a few words. Phil Robertson that knuckle-dragging, hillbilly beard wearing, walmart-shopper looking cretin from the LA swamps.

Can't be many people stupider than him, right?

Except good family man, successful businesman, star of a popular and long running TV show and generally all around good guy.

Also has a master's degree. Not much of one, being in education (like me) but still better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Tim,

Not a comment pro or con on Pelosi's intelligence but I don't think the speakership is necessarily an indication of smarts.

I think it is more:

1) Do what you are told
2) Make other reps do what you tell them to. Although that is more the whip's job
3) Raise lots and lots of money for the party

Being smart probably helps but I think it would be #4 or lower on the list.

In the past week PDJT has held big rallies for politicians in Kentucky, Mississippi and LA helping them to get elected.

Has Bernie ever, in his 30-40 year career spoken at a rally for any democrat candidate? This is as it should be since he has never been a Democrat. Still isn't as far as I know.

Have any of the current candidates campaigned for anyone else in the current races?

John Henry

John henry म्हणाले...

Just in case anyone missed it, I rather like Phil and the rest of the Robertson family. I was not an avid Duck Dynasty fan but did watch it a bit. They seem like very nice, smart people. My knuckle-dragging etc characterization was meant to be satire. (As the Babylon Bee is finding out, it is hard to do satire without people taking it as truth)

A few days ago I commented on George Wallace attending a NASCAR race with Richard Petty and how it helped him get 46 electoral votes.

I suspect that a few words from Phil R brought more votes from the Repos in LA than all the speeches from all the demmy pols could for the LA demmy candidates.

I think she is more like the fellow who saw a mob rushing down the street and ran after them saying "That is the Mob. I am their leader, therefore I must follow them!"

tim maguire,

I knew someone who went to high school with Nancy Pelosi - she called her the dumbest women in the class, but she married a wealthy man and came from a politically connected family in Baltimore. Care to revise your assessment? Being aggressive and dumb often go together

I don't like Pelosi. Think she is a corrupt evil woman.

She maylook doddering and lost in space now.....and she probably is due to age and creeping dementia. She wasn't always thus. You don't get to be a powerful person in national politics without some skills :-)

BUT. I wouldn't underestimate her devious, manipulative, Machiavellian ways. There are many ways to be 'smart' and not all of them gained through 'formal' education.

Politically connected family is a bit of an understatement. Like saying Al Capone was a bit crooked. The D'Alessandro family, one could argue, was in large part responsible for making Baltimore the shithole it is today.

And she didn't just marry a wealthy man. She married a Pelosi, one of the powerbroker families in California.

Here's an idea for PDJT: Start calling her "Nancy D'Alessandro Pelosi" Don't say anything about it, just let people start wondering and looking up D'Alessandro family.

Yes, he is a good guy. And he played backup QB to Terry Bradshaw at La Tech the year they won the Div I-AA championship. He was offered a contract in the NFL but turned it down because playing would have interfered with duck season. He also has a master’s degree in education, I believe.

Seeing our generation's John Kennedy is a little surreal, but the experience must have been similar for some Southerners 60 years ago to watch television and see that strange young guy with all the hair and the funny accent who had the same last name as they did.
