“... when they are tried in the court(s) of public opinion/Facebook/and the media without fundamental fairness and respect for due process? Who will check in on them when they are hurt or injured (emotionally or physically)? Who will lead the cheers for the birth of a child, a wedding, a retirement? And who will be there for them to grieve the loss of someone special? Who will be unafraid to speak up on their behalf?“
Blogs Mike Koval, retiring as Madison’s Chief of Police.

Well, not the lefties that run the place, that's for sure.
Sounds like a straight shooter that Madison was fortunate to have. Thank you for your service Chief.
Who will guard the guardians is the original, pointing to an instability in every system. It's held off with conventions, if alynski hasn't intervened.
Maybe BLM and Antifa could console them for fallen Police Officers after Madison proves itself as a Sanctuary from ICE.
The Mayor will speak up for them, of course.
"Who will protect the guardians when they are hurting...”
No one. The left despises them and wishes them harm, and the non-left is too timid and would rather be neutral.
He sounds more than a little full of himself.
When my wife told me this news I said, for the first time ever, "It may be time to think about moving out of the city". It was only an idle thought, but I was surprised she was in instant agreement.
Can't imagine what our new mayor will do with this opening. We'll see.
Mike Koval was accidentally chosen as chief of police in Madison. The leftists who run the place won't make that mistake again. Your next chief will be woke, and her priorities won't involve what normal people think of as policing. Your crime rate will escalate. Some residents will care, but not enough of them.
Perhaps you could have our portland, OR Police Chief, a lady named Lawless (!!hahhhh!!) she could probably use a break. No Love Lost on police in Portland, sigh.
Unfortunately, for progress to be made in remaking our society, hard sacrifices must be made. And public safety is a concept of white privilege that must be faced as a harsh truth until such time as everyone lives in equal misery. Only then will we all join in unison as a single human chain that will bind us all to a just and shared destiny.
Truly, I can’t fucking wait. In anticipation of that glorious day, I am stocking up in Astrolube.

He makes his officers sound like emotionally stunted children. Is that how he sees his job? As the police force’s mom?
Who would? Damn near anybody, I’d hope.
Sounds like the end of an era. Good luck with the tradesman and everybody.
“He sounds more than a little full of himself.”
I’d be embarrassed to hear my boss describe these things as his role. I can take care of myself, thanks.
My biggest fear.... A potent word, "fear." Suggests prospect of death or serious harm to one's self. The Chief's concern seems mostly about the psychic well being of others.
Who will.... Who will.... The Chief does not say, but suggests, that these are important tasks which he performed notably well during his tenure. He is "afraid" (or concerned) that his successor will be neglectful of those duties.
Does the Chief know who his successor will likely be? If so, he is expressing lack of confidence in the person. If the successor is yet to be chosen, he expresses lack of confidence in his supervisors to pick a competent successor.
But wait! Checking on emotionally injured employees? Leading cheers for employee's wedding or birth of child? These are rather distant from peace keeping and law enforcement amongst the populace.
I do not know the Chief, nor the City. The writing is from a "blog," perhaps not officially tied to the City. But on the face of it, the writing seems a humble-brag, unintentionally drawing attention to bureaucratic mission creep in the Department.
Could be wrong, but not gonna follow the link on this one.
I had no idea that the Cracker Refulgent was police officer, shot 3 or 4 times, and celebrated countless times for rescuing ordinary folks from mortal danger.
Who guards the citizens from the guardians?
Seriously ? No person can get away with any emotional expression these days. We must deconstruct every word and ignore any sign of grievance. Buck up and let them change their own diapers. Enjoy your retirement and don’t look back. Let the man say what he needs to say. Some people have no choice to miss a fruitful career or choice to look back and miss the such. A job alone is not life, but a life without a job is no life either. We are all doomed, have a nice day & don’t panic !
