"thing 1 fears'HAPPENED'😱" to Cher!

Here's the Lucy image she must mean:

That's from "Lucy Gets Into Pictures" (Season 4, Episode 18 of "I Love Lucy," where "Lucy gets a bit part in a movie, but has a problem with the costume").

Cher was great in Moonstruck and I used to enjoy her shtick with Sonny, too. If these entertainers would leave political comments to the mediaswine we'd all be better off.

Cher references a 1955 Lucille Ball TV episode in a tweet.
And expects her followers to get it.
And she is how old, again?
Oh, yeah, that old.
God, I'm almost that old, too.

While I recall watching Saturday afternoon TV reruns starring Jimmy Durante, George Burns & Gracy Allen, and others from decades before my birth, I would not expect anyone except those my own age and older to understand me if I said, "The Schnozz!" or "He left his hat."

mockturtle āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

I certainly old enough to remember I Love Lucy. Best sitcom ever produced.

A close friend of mine LOVES Cher. Has loved Cher forever. Used to wear her hair like Cher when she was younger. She does a hilarious hair swing impression of Cher. Anyway, A month or so ago she went to see Cher in Indianapolis, and remarked that Cher's moves around the stage are stiff and careful. Not the same performance of her glory days. These famous performers can afford major botox, and all sorts of cosmetic surgery to make them look age-less, but the aging process is still happening. Rest assured.

Never saw it first run but honestly believe those shows have been re-running all my life.

Looks like first three seasons currently on Hallmark channel.

"Cher references a 1955 Lucille Ball TV episode in a tweet. And expects her followers to get it."

I suspect a few people have been exposed to "I Love Lucy" in reruns on TV or direct streaming. Or even DVD — here's season 4.

But I do remember when TV was a thing that you had to watch when it was on or it was (seemingly) lost for ever. And yet, even then we had reruns. Was anything in the history of TV rerun as much as Lucy?

Ann Althouse āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

By the way, Lucy and Desi invented the practice of rerunning in syndication.

Ann Althouse āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

And Lucille Ball is the reason we have 'Star Trek.'"

rcocean āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

Lucy was gypped out of "Desilu Studios" - after Star Trek she knew the dough would come rolling in once it went into syndication, but before then the Studio faced a cash crunch. But no bank would loan her the money. So, she had to sell out, and the new owners reaped all the profits.

rcocean āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

The untold story of "Capitalism in America" is how the Banks have chosen the winners and losers based on who they loan money to. And its not always been based on who deserved it.

rcocean āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

Desi and Lucy demanded "I Love Lucy" been filmed over the objections of the Executives, that's why the show has lasted for almost 70 years, and other early 50's shows have been lost. Those shows were live, or were taped, and are gone forever.

rcocean āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

I didn't see "I Love Lucy" in reruns till the 1970's. There's a whole bunch of people who've seen the show in re-runs. Even my daughter likes it! The undying popularity is due to the writing and the fact that its one of few "female-centric" great sitcoms.

Kevin Walsh āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

I suspect Cher can write better than this, but she feels she has to write like this on twitter so the kidz will think she's hep.

mockturtle āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

Lucy never let vanity get in the way of humor. Carol Burnett was like that, too.

Fen āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

Well, since Cher feels entitled to give her expert opinion on politics, let me count the ways she is a failure as an artist and vocalist.

(I'm trying to think of ignorant things to say about her profession, but I'm truly ignorant on where to begin... perhaps I should shut up and legislate? Ah but if only Cher and her kind would take the same advice...)

Fen āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

Oh I got it! "Autotune is much better, Cher can't even compete against a robot!"

Hehe.

Fen āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ›েāĻ¨...

Hey Cher, that's how idiotic you sound when you talk about politics.

"A month or so ago she went to see Cher in Indianapolis, and remarked that Cher's moves around the stage are stiff and careful. "

A friend of mine saw the Stones in 2015. She said Mick was still zipping around the stage at a pretty good clip (no jumping for Jumpin' Jack Flash these days). She kept thinking "one fall and it's a broken hip." She also said Richards' guitar playing was pretty bad. That could be due to arthritic fingers as much as to the after effects of massive drug use.

She still enjoyed the concert.

They should have called her back there 35 years ago.

Cher might be old now but she always sounds like a hysterical 16 year old girl when she tweets.

With George Sanders, Lucille Ball, Charles Coburn, Boris Karloff. A serial killer in London is murdering young women he meets through the personal columns ...

A friend of mine saw the Stones in 2015.

They very carefully play everything at half-speed, which is not bad for 70+ year-olds, but this is real rock 'n' roll - Midnight Rambler Marquee Club 1971

Last night, my wife and I watched the movie Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Cher played a grandmother -- one who obviously had had a lot of plastic surgery and was wearing a wig.

Meryl Streep had starred in the first Mamma Mia movie, but she was basically written out of this second movie. I assume that she had demanded too much money. Streep appeared only in this movie's last five minutes.

I assume that the producers used some of the saved Streep money to pay Cher so appear in this movie.

Anyone else ever seen Lucille Ball in the hilarious old comedy, The Fuller Brush Girl?

I visit The Althouse Cafe to find out things like Cher is still alive. Learning she is still performing in flamboyant costumes causes me to order a second regular coffee with one cream. I tip the waitress three-times what I paid for the coffee. Thank you for your service and your sweet smile to grumpy old guys like me and my friends.

The only part I remember is the home-permanent scene.

I'm concerned that people are actually buying her tickets, when their money could do so much to help feed and clothe illegal aliens living in the internment camps.

I do understand the angst about her headpiece slipping. I have the same issue with my codpiece.
