It's just annual nonsense, but I've got to say I love The Zombies. I've loved them since their first single played on the radio long ago, and we saw them here in Madison in 2017. Here are my "Notes from the Zombies concert at the Barrymore."
Why weren't they already in?! From the first link above (Rolling Stone):
For Colin Blunstone of the Zombies – who have been eligible since 1989 and have appeared on three previous ballots – this was the result of incredible patience and persistence. “You do start to doubt that it could happen,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I’ve tried to be fairly philosophical about it and tell myself that if we don’t get inducted, it’s just a bit of fun. Don’t take it too seriously. But of course when you’re actually inducted, everything changes. You think, ‘This is a career-defining [and] life-defining moment.'”
His longtime bandmate Rod Argent echoed Blunstone’s sentiment. “I know it’s fashionable in some circles to say, ‘I don’t mind whether I get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or not,'” he tells Rolling Stone. “But that is not how I’ve ever felt. When we were first nominated, that felt like a huge honor in its own right. And this time to turn the corner and get inducted, feels fantastic … I’m just so delighted.”

I assume Fleetwood Mac is in the hall of fame, right? Still nice to see Nicks make it in on her own name.
All solid choices- I have loved the music of all the inductees.
The best thing about getting in the RRHOF is that people go out and buy music from the acts who are enshrined. Roxy Music was a wonderful band that never did a lot of business in the U.S., so I'm especially pleased for them.

The Zombies were a good choice that otherwise could have lost their window.
Not sure JJ fits the rock genre; the rest were inevitable.

Once again, heavy metal is snubbed by the ancient hippies making these decisions. No Judas Priest, no Iron Maiden, no Thin Lizzy, no Deep Purple. Not that I much care, but I know it means a lot to some of these artists for some reason.

We saw the Zombies last year in concert. They were FANTASTIC. Colin's voice has held up marvelously. Good for them.

If you're not familiar, do yourself a favor and change that.
I don't get Radiohead. I like their music, but HOF worthy?
To me, HOF worthy is simply a band/musician that influenced future great bands/musicians....Like Roxy, The Cure, Def Leppard in this class.

Is hall of fame status higher than an Academy Award? There are many in the hall of fame that I never heard of. As hall of fames go, it's no Pantheon of Olympus.......Which is the most devalued honor of our era: Academy Award for Best Picture, Nobel Prize for Literature. Emmy Award for comedy? Which honor retains its luster?
I wish it were a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is really an American Music Hall of Fame as they nominate quite a few non-Rock and Rollers.
Doobie Brothers, Jethro Tull, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran....not good enough to get in. But Janet Jackson is.

Back in the late 60's they opened for the 1910 Fruit Gum Company.
I am still miffed that the Beau Brummels haven't been inducted. I am a huge fan of the Lindsey-Buckingham Fleetwood Mac era and loved Stevie Nicks. I remember attending the night of a thousand Stevies party in NYC with a drag queen friend of mine years ago.
And as for Janet Jackson's induction, the Hall of Fame uses a very loose definition of "rock and roll." Madonna has been inducted, as well as a lot of soul/R&B artists (e.g. Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, etc.).
Roxy Music, although Bryan Ferry's solo crooning degraded their reputation. Eno better damn well get his due.

Also, I'm glad Radiohead was inducted. When I was younger, I thought of myself as the kind of person who would like Radiohead. I hated them, but I liked to think that I was the kind of person who would like them.
Now I'm older and like to think of myself as the kind of person who would like jazz. Of course, I hate jazz, but I like to think of myself as a person who would like jazz.
I like country music, but I'm not the kind of person who likes country.

These things are like the Oscars anymore, I just don't care and don't know why anyone would. There's nothing really "Rock and Roll" about Janet Jackson (let alone Run DMC, Public Enemy, etc.). It's actually quite antithetical to the whole notion of rock 'n roll.
I still campfire play all those minor key hits of the Zombies. One night one of our friends said it's amazing how she can remember all the lyrics to so many songs from so long ago but can't seem to remember what she did yesterday.
When all her troubles seemed so far away.

Is Argent in the RRHOF? Doobie Brothers should have been inducted decades before Janet Jackson, but being rock n roll doesn't matter, I guess. Beau Brummels definitely belong also.

Whenever they announce the new inductees, I'm always surprised that half of them aren't already in.
