The God Pod.

The Herald reports:
A Muslim civil rights group filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against a regional jail in Virginia, alleging that the jail has set up a Christians-only unit dubbed the “God Pod.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations says officials at the Riverside Regional Jail have set aside a housing pod exclusively for Christian inmates who promise to live in accordance with the Bible. The group says the Christian pod violates the Constitution by favoring one religion over others.

The lawsuit accuses jail officials of discriminating against Muslim inmates and others by preventing them from participating in programs that teach their faith and excluding them from the housing unit, nicknamed the “God Pod” by inmates.

Ann you must be so proud that your blog has become the home of anti-Muslim bigots and racists. You cultivated your blog in a way to attract this audience. Have you done so just for the easy clicks and Amazon portal purchases? I think it is now pretty clear that you share their worldview and that you wanted to create a platform where it could be promoted.

Prisons routinely allow religious services for inmates. It's a good idea, an important idea and (arguably) required by the Free Exercise clause.

So that's an important question, it seems to me. Would the jail allow for a Muslim God pod? Or is this just a nuisance suit, an attack on the Christian faith by those who are hostile to it? You can often spot the difference by the standing issue. The Supreme Court has done some real dishonest work vis-a-vis the establishment clause and whether or not a litigant has standing to bring a suit. (See also Roe v. Wade, where the Supreme Court decided whether a woman who had given birth two years previously had a right to abort her baby). Unelected judges who thirst for power make a joke out of standing precisely because they want to make a ruling so badly they can't help themselves.

Question number 1 then, is whether anybody tried to form a Muslim God pod and they were turned down. If yes, then they have standing for this part of the suit. If no, then the judge should not hear this part of the case. A Christian service, in and of itself, does not offend the establishment clause. You would have to prove that the government had established the Christian faith and other faiths had disparate treatment.

I think that discrimination should be legal. If a Muslim does not want to rent to, or hire a Christian, that should not be illegal. Same with everybody else.

Once Written, Islam isn't a race. You know that. But you only have just so many talking points, don't you? Some inappropriate repetition is inevitable.

Prisons are home to the inmates, people who have had their freedoms removed by a court after a fair trial. As such, the government does all sorts of things that it couldn't do elsewhere. There's no freedom of speech in prison. There's no freedom of the press in prison. No commerce clause. If they determine that putting something in there that some types of religious people choose to use more than others helps maintain peace and safety in the prison, then they can do it.

Virginia is not under the jurisdiction of the 9th circuit.

Muslims have special allowance for dietary restrictions and daily prayer--five times daily. Plus Imams and special areas. I assume there are many more concessions.

I'm talking about difficulties in establishment clause jurisprudence. The Bible was a strong influence on the adoption of our bankruptcy laws. An individual could receive a Chapter 7 bankruptcy that was modeled on Deuteronomy 15: 1-3.

I don't think it's correct that the Koran requires people to convert to Islam or die.

There are many Muslims who believe that if you try to leave Islam, you should die. Apostasy in Islam is definitely a thing.

I think it would be an unhappy experience to be a Jew or Christian in many Islamic countries, depending on which one you were in. But there are still people who do it. For instance right now there are thousands of Jews living in Iran, and 300,000 Christians living in Iran.

What you think and what the koran says are two different things. Try https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/quran/forced-conversion.aspx
for an introduction.

That may be, I haven't studied the Koran. I doubt very much that such a book is easy to understand. I checked out your website, and while the authors certainly conclude that the Koran requires the murder of non-believers, I'm of the opinion they are giving the harshest of possible readings. If your interpretation is harsher and more mean-spirited than the mullahs of Iran, you might want to revisit it. I mean, the mullahs of Iran are assholes and dictators. And yet they don't feel the obligation to murder 300,000 Christians living in their country.

See also Pakistan, where there are approximately 2.5 million Christians living right now. If the Koran required their murder, as you say, then how come those Christians are still Christian, and still alive?

You really do need to study the koran. Christians and Jews can live among muslims as long as they pay the jizya. Anyone else- not so much. Especially atheists and apostates, people who have recognized islam as a death cult and have consciously left it. That's why there's a lot more violence between Hindus and muslims where they live side by side. Hindus don't have choice of paying the jizya- for them it's convert or die if the muslims gain power.

In 1947 over 4.7 million Hindi and Sikh left Pakistan for the safety of India at the time of partition. Majority muslim Pakistan has some semblance of secular government. So a whopping 1.2% of Pakistan is Hindi. Almost 15% of India is muslim. They didn't flee to Pakistan or other majority islamic states. And they're trouble wherever they are. Currently almost all violence in Asia is islam vs someone else. Sikh, Hindi, Christian, Chinese, whatever. China takes the muslim threat seriously, and is taking steps to suppress it we cannot. I forget which Democrat politician said it, but their leader makes a decisions and- BOOM- it's carried out. They’ve opened re-education camps for muslims.
