I am often critical of WaPo coverage. But these (post-rescue) articles have been very well written and informative. I don't really know how the Pulitzer prize system works, but I do read a lot of newspaper articles, and this set of articles is the best I've seen this year.
(If only we could work "Trump = Hitler" into the articles. Alas.)
Ann, thanks for posting this great story and good news. If only you could supply your readers the same wide discretion you bring to cultural coverage to, well, other things. I like that all the kids and the coach are going to become ordained Buddhists. Well done.
Of course (before anybody else sees fit to point this out) the actual rescuers deserve something more important than a Pulitzer. And the guys who agreed to stay and comfort made such a contribution -- one that is not as dramatic as guiding through the tight spots -- but I'd say the "stay and comfort" role was the more challenging.

Not sure your meaning; I sure hate to be exposed to a bright light when I’m dark adapted. But from the article, apparently the Thai SEALS were wearing those to conceal their identity.
One of the all time great stories. I was hoping for a story on how they were.

Look up what he did say and to whom.

Interesting the focus of the story
for this forum
is bringing down Elon Musk.
Genuine heroes. The Thais have been an interesting people for a long time.
The Thais take great pride in the fact that they, unlike their neighbors, have never been colonized.
With everything else, wearing sunglasses in a cave for that period of time.

Both the Post and The New York Times still do amazing journalism on these sorts of subjects. It's their political news and op-ed pages that are nearly unreadable. Most of their culture stuff is tinged with progressive politics as well and is avoidable.
This was a great story, especially because they were estimating months to complete the rescue but did it in a relatively short time.

If taking scores of millions of dollars from Putin and then selling him a huge part of North American uranium supplies isn't called treason, but calling out Clapper, who has been undermining the sitting president for his whole presidency is, then I just don't get what treason means.
