"A street fight between three men and a single fighter... ended when two men were knocked unconscious and the lone fighter fled before police arrived."

The Wisconsin State Journal reports on something that happened here in Madison (on State Street).

The scrappy lone fighter is described as 5'8" or 5'9" and 145 pounds.

Sounds like an outtake for a "Deer Hunter" reboot.

Anything that's anywhere in the US there's one of it in Wisconsin. The inhabitants are kept busy maintaining all the plants from the various zones, all the restaurant types, all the museums, all the sports teams (What about those Brewers/ Packers/Bucks/Badgers?), all the left craziness, all the Restoration From The Right programs, all the old industries, all the new industries (Who got Foxconn? We got Foxconn.) And as there's only 8 million of us we are all pretty busy with hardly time to laugh at Illinois. But we don't neglect viral videos and there's a ton of them about one man fighting three. So naturally we have that. But not in video, no time for that, have to go herd coyotes in an outer suburb.

A well trained 5'8'', 145lbs man is not a target you want to deal with. Three more men just found out.

Sometimes I wonder whether these times are new or whether through some failure of knowledge I just don't recognize the pattern. Take Narciso and Inga. They both recognize patterns - not the same ones obviously - but they see them. The Spike, Thirties leftism. But this all seems new to me. Take the dawn assault on the homes of Wisconsin conservatives = when did that ever happen in the US? I'm asking. Take Confidential Benign Informant Gate which 1. did not happen and 2. was to save Trump from the Russians. The media keeps saying it's all true. Obviously they don't believe any of it; equally obviously, they are enraged because Trump supporters don't believe it either and so the media has to keep pretending they do believe a very thin story and pretending that they are successfully selling the joke to the flyovers. But the rubes and deplorables and flyovers don't pretend for a moment to accept the story, they are laughing in very microagressive way. So why tell it? But evidently the media have to. I think that's unusual. Amusing. But unusual.

Jack Reacher

WK: what you said.

Of course Reacher is differently sized but the concept still holds: some come prepared, others just think they are.

It doesn’t say he didn’t have a weapon. A fast wiry man with a sap or an ASP can do some serious bell-ringing.

You think That's crazy?
I saw a man two years ago take on 17 opponents plus the entire mainstream press.
And in that non-Royal Rumble the 70 year old beat all the youngsters and pretenders.

If I'd have gotten my ass kicked by such a small man, I'd have been the bigger man by taking my ass shopping in silence and not called the cops.

I note that there is no description of the "victims"- either race, age, or size. It isn't normally the case a single man unarmed would take on three people, so my working assumption is the three man posse picked on the wrong guy- he probably seemed an easy target because of his size.

How tall is Paul "The Walrus" Soglin?

Joking aside,
Consulting the actual article might be instructive:
"Witnesses said there was a primary aggressor, who punched and knocked down three different men, two knocked out temporarily," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

"Some believed the man throwing the quick punches must have been trained as a fighter."

One victim needed stitches but there were no serious injuries.

The suspect believed to be a trained fighter is Hispanic, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 145 pounds, in his 20s, short brown hair curly on top but shaved on the sides, facial stubble, wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans.

Yes, a sap or asp will do the job. If you take them, they don't carry well. Unless part of uniform and trained. SOF won't need them. If so you can write this better. Because with two it’s a dance picking opportunities. I wager they were arguing. Then one exploded into a first strike picking best positioned. Grab back of head, head Butt, nose broken, disorienting pain. Hand thrust to chin, swivel into a knee, elbow to the throat, if not down short arm jab to the jaw, down, . Order blows to disable limbs and lungs,Pain or blood in eyes, enabling shifting focus, Always take out one first then kick both unconscious. First rule. Have a plan. Then strike without warning. unless they turn to run which you should consider too,not righteous if not needed."sorry" can come later.

Ok George, guess we disregard the witnesses.
But your notes on sap, asp and SOF go into my memory bank.

Thanks to new EU rules, this is what I get when, from Croatia, I tried to read the article:

“We’re sorry. This site is temporarily unavailable.

Thanks. I think.

Skipper,
It's a short article..I quoted the meat of it above..which was strangely truncated in OP....

Yeah, you see, the EU cares more about your privacy than the semi-autistic and socially awkward dictators of our culture at Google.

Years ago, a co-worker of mine told me about his uncle, who was a sexagenarian when this incident happened: the uncle was stopped at a traffic light in his car somewhere here in NYC and four young toughs approached the idling car. (I don't remember which borough, but it was Queens or Brooklyn) Their aim was to rob him of his money or his car. To put it succinctly, the uncle got out of his car made quick work of the four younger men. He got back in his car and drove on.

(This same uncle, at another time, had a tooth that was paining him, so he took a pair of pliers and pulled the tooth out! According to my co-worker, this uncle was a very tough old bastard.)

“Street Fighting Man” 50 years on.

Etienne said...

"Street Fighting Man" was written to the tune of French emergency sirens.

Keith heard them a lot when they kept raiding his refugee pad, and confiscating his drugs.

rcocean said...

Not surprised. Punks probably thought he was an easy target, and never suspected he was skilled fighter.

Most peeps don't understand the difference between a skilled, trained, boxer or martial arts expert and the average person.

In sleepy MadTown there’s just no place for a street fightin’ man.

I worked at a store on the 500 block of State St. back in college. I knew that part of town well.

If modern cinema and TV are any guide, the lone fighter was likely a seriously hot babe, probably weighing in around 110 lbs.

walking around at 145 he'd fight at 130-135
