Let me know if your experience here is improving.

On the technical level, I mean.

On the intellectual, spiritual, and emotional level... that's another matter, but I hope that's good for you too.

I don’t know what errors you were getting. But quite often, errors in the browser are caused by errors in the HTML code. Just checking your home page with the W3C validator, I see 336 errors. If you are having troubles, you might look at that list.

There was a frequency-shift keying station in the 50s just below the 15m band. It sent, over and over,

VVV DE OLU OLU OLU VVV DE OLU OLU OLU ...

The thing was, since it was FSK, there were two tones instead of one. One tone was the message, the other tone filled in the silent intervals between the dots and dashes and letters.

Listening to only this latter tone, called the backwave, produced the most sexy rhythm ever heard by man. More than one person noticed this at the time.

Fucking aye! At least the accusations against Menendez of using underage "hookers" <-(sex slaves) was under oath and corroborated. Let's talk about that!

And Alred's too cute claim that she would allow the sig to be verified if Moore would consent to be deposed. I hope she didn't lie to a court about that signature. Actually, her getting disbarred would be a mitzvah for the general good.

Yikes.

Most of that is part of Blogger. I didn't create that code. Not sure what to do! I don't think I can just redo their code and hope for better.

I could take out Blogads. I don't have Blogads anymore.

Fred Drinkwater म्हणाले...

Either the db is sentient, or the DDOS conspirators have hunkered down. Either way, we win. I think.

"These particular women were offended. And he had to resign over it. The message is that men in the workplace better be damned careful about any kind of personal interaction with women." Yes, Professor A. Even a flatworm knows to turn from pain. While dumber than flatworms, men will eventually figure this out and then we can kiss goodbye to anything like real civility and productive adult interactions in the workplace or probably anywhere. The rules of engagement will be name, rank, serial number; and how dare you say that, I am speed.-dialing HR.

Either do it the pop up way, shown on the link above, or copy and paste the URL address on a line below the readable text thus:

http://www.tizag.com/htmlT/links.php

We can get there from that gobbledygook, honest.

My post at 2:50 had a Conflicting Edit - something I have never seen before.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

"We can get there from that gobbledygook, honest."

I can't. Or rather, won't. "Cutting" with my finger is so flakey I won't do it unless I really, really want to see what's at the link.

gadfly म्हणाले...

Oh -- and BTW, acknowledgement of the post takes much longer to than it used to - screen freezes and I wait and wait to get it back showing the new post.

That could indicate a bad internet connection or a dying computer, I suppose.

If copying and pasting the URL to a new tab is too flakey, I would suggest using Google Chrome where you highlight the URL, right click, then tap the "go to" option.

I'm using an iPad, gadfly. No mouse (wish there was).

Fiverr is a cheap way to get help with code. For $5, what do you have to lose?

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

""I don't think I can just redo their code" Ann does not have the Hacker Nature."

Ha ha. To be fair, I do know how to get to the code and make changes in it. In fact, I have done that. I added the Blogad code that was necessary to displaying Blogads (a type of ad that I don't have anymore). But as for all the code that is part of Blogger, I don't think it's wise for me to form my own opinion that any of that code should be changed and then to change it. Blogger has worked on its own code for a long time, and anything that some code-checker site is calling an error... I just would be assume that Blogger's own opinion that its code is right is more convincing than that code-checker site. Otherwise, I would consider experimenting, and I would understand that it could be done and how to get to the place where I could change the code and save the changes.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

As for dead blogroll links... I do like to get rid of them and will do it, but I don't believe that would slow down the page, because I don't have it set up to put the links in order of when they were last updated or to gather any info from the other pages.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

There. I updated the blogroll and got rid of what doesn't regularly update.

tcrosse म्हणाले...

First try

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Okay, I went into the code and removed the following, which appeared after [[head]]. This was (I believe) the code that was needed to format the (now defunct) Blogads. If you think I took too much (or too little) out, let me know. This was the only place in the code where "blogads" appear, and I remember that I did have to add code to the header. I took out some angled brackets so I could publish this:

link href='http://cache.blogads.com/372740391/feed.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'/
script type='text/javascript'

var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-23417210-1']);
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

(function() {
var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();

/script
link href='http://cache.blogads.com/373245138/feed.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'/

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

I'm guessing that "google-analytics.com/ga.js" stuff was part of the Blogads code, needed to keep track of how many page views I was giving them and that it wasn't part of anything else.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Blogads involved other code that went in the sidebar, but this extra stuff was needed in the header in order to make the ads in the sidebar format properly. I'd taken the code out of the sidebar, but just left it in the header.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

I've got the Amazon link back in the sidebar too.

As long as I'm trying to fix everything.
