I record all the Sunday morning political talk shows, but I don't know if I'll be able to stand to watch even part of any of them.

I'm going to try. I'll let you know. But I don't want to listen to people guessing about the Mueller indictment. What are the other topics they might decide to fill the time with? I have no hope that any of it will be watchable. Political television is pretty awful. It seems that those who make the decisions about how the allotted time will be spent believe the spending of time on a subject says something about its importance and is, in fact, what's most important, overriding whether any of the words add much of anything.

I prefer print because I can instantly see where the headlines are placed on the front page and how long the articles are, and I can skim or jump to whatever I want. TV has no respect for your time and your autonomy. I try to get control by recording everything and jumping forward, but with these news talk shows, I find I'm speeding through everything and there's no significant difference from not watching at all. It's as though I just like the theoretical possibility of watching. But why?

What are the other topics they might decide to fill the time with?

Mueller, Rosenstein, Hillary, and Bill colluding with the Russians on Uranium One?

Or Fusion GPS, Hillary, the DNC colluding with Russia to produce the piss-gate 'dossier'?

Ha ha, I kid, I kid. They'll talk about Impeaching Trump.

MTP led with a great, substantive interview with Sen. Rob Portman. Which left the film clips of Donald Trump sounding like a cartoon character. Followed by Sen. Claire McAskill, following up the discussion on taxes.

I missed part of Fox News Sunday, but I didn't see much about Mueller.

What you were anticipating/fearing doesn't seem to be happening too much this morning.

I briefly stopped at MTP this morning. They talked about the speculative indictment with barely contained glee. Not one word about the DNC and Clinton campaign funding of the dossier or the Uranium One fiasco although they did mock the idea that the Democratic Party may be implicated. Of course, if you ignore any evidence showing your narrative may be inaccurate or incomplete, it is easy to mock anyone not in your circle.

To demonstrate how crazy it has become, on hte MTP segment I saw, Chris Matthews (!) cautioned taht we are still in a populist rising and Trump should not be sold short. WHen Matthews if your voice of reason, that is a strong sign that the show is worthless.

THe Sunday shows is propoganda at its finest. Nearly every host is a former Democratic Party political operative and its guests are Democratic party operatives or "Republicans" like Chuck who spend their time saying that Republicans are awful human beings.

I caught a bit of Adam Schiff being interviewed by Stephanopolous.

What stood out was his response about what had been verified as true in the dossier (after acknowledging that there were some things that had been proven false.) His answer was that Steele had "discovered" that the Russians were trying to collude with Trump's campaign before our intelligence agencies knew that, and that some of that had been borne out. So, yeah, Steele knew this, maybe because he was in league with the people who were setting it up?

Also, without being asked he purposely pivoted to Uranium One, and quickly got to the point that there was something nefarious about Trump asking DOJ to overturn the gag order on the witness. Stephanopolous joined in on the response and t was very obvious that this was a talking point that Schiff had been sent out to distribute.

I read the Buzzfeed article. It is detailed and suggests they have a mole on Mueller's team. The details suggest it would have to be an attorney with access to the whole investigation. Buzzfeed has broken a few stories so they may have an informant on Mueller's team. Sessions should investigate who is leaking grand jury information (that'll be the day when Sessions does his job).

What is striking is all these transactions are (1) from 2012-13, with one in 2014, long before the 2016 campaign and zero to do with Trump, and (2) they had already been investigated and dismissed a long time ago but Mueller revived the investigation, suggesting there are serious vulnerabilities with these charges.

If this is all Mueller has, it's pathetic and an obvious ploy to intimidate Manafort.

Reagan and Bush were accused of colluding with the Iranians to delay the release of hostages until after the 1980 campaign. Outside of the insane fever swamps, people recognized it as insane conspiracy theories. The only difference here is that this President is despised by people within the government who have the ability, willingness and motive to bring down the US government. Poor Inga. No heroes left by the time this is over.

Former president Barack Obama’s official campaign organization has directed nearly a million dollars to the same law firm that funneled money to Fusion GPS, the firm behind the infamous Steele dossier. Since April of 2016, Obama For America (OFA) has paid over $972,000 to Perkins Coie, records filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) show.

The Washington Post reported last week that Perkins Coie, an international law firm, was directed by both the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton’s campaign to retain Fusion GPS in April of 2016 to dig up dirt on then-candidate Donald Trump. Fusion GPS then hired Christopher Steele, a former British spy, to compile a dossier of allegations that Trump and his campaign actively colluded with the Russian government during the 2016 election. Though many of the claims in the dossier have been directly refuted, none of the dossier’s allegations of collusion have been independently verified. Lawyers for Steele admitted in court filings last April that his work was not verified and was never meant to be made public.

Andrew Sullivan said...
If I were asked which were the problems that are most overlooked right now, I’d say record levels of social and economic inequality, declining social mobility and a dangerous, unsustainable level of debt.

So what does the ostensibly conservative party in America - the Republicans - propose we do? They propose that we make all of this de-legitimization of democratic capitalism much, much worse. I’m referring primarily to their proposed massive tax cut to the super-wealthy, the abolition of the estate tax, and their bid to add over a trillion dollars to the debt.

How on earth does the GOP defend this? They argue that the US economy desperately needs a boost. This was not a position they held in 2009, as the global economy was teetering on collapse, and as the US economy was close to its worst crisis since the 1930s. The House GOP coughed up one single vote for massive tax cuts at that time … because they insisted that we couldn’t add to the debt, even as a depression loomed. But apparently, debt-fueled growth is urgent now that unemployment claims have hit a 44-year low, the Dow is at a record high, we are still in the longest recovery in history, and the debt is far greater than it was in 2009. This is so perverse it could not possibly be entertained without massive amnesia, extreme partisanship, or a need to have something - anything - to point to in 2018.

The second argument is that the tax cuts pay for themselves through faster growth. Well, they don’t exactly argue this, because they cannot. We know now beyond any conceivable doubt that this is untrue, false, disproven, and unfounded, because every single tax cut of the last thirty five years has increased the debt. Reagan’s tax cut created the first lurch toward insolvency; George W. Bush’s created the second; and the Great Recession - Bush’s last gift to the country - compounded both. In Kansas, we have yet another contemporary case of the demonstrable failure of this supply-side fantasy. For Mitch McConnell to say with a straight face that this time will be different is therefore either madness or cynicism so profound it … well I was going to say beggars belief, but at this point, it seems utterly believable.

I largely agree with this. I am a pretty conservative person but it is impossible to vote Republican because they are so utterly unserious on the economy.

No. the only plausible explanations are:
1. They played both sides to sow discord
2. They were colluding with Clinton all along and as a cover they were trying to entrap Trump's campaign. They were shopping the dossier all over the media through late summer and early fall, and expected this would blow up on Trump and their own collusion would never be uncovered.

Increasingly it looks t me like #2. I laugh when Dems say, "She ever used the dossier!" Well, yeah, because it was such a steaming pile that even the hacks in the media wouldn't publish it until they finally got David Corn to play along.

What we are seeing here is a prerevolutionary period of skirmishing.

The political left has lost its bearings and wants Utopia with no idea of how to pay for it.

The GOPe has had a comfortable relationship with donors who are making billions for the current ZIRP and crony capitalism with "green energy."

Trump has threatened this nice arrangement by intruding with the wishes of the people who make the country work.

The military is also largely proTrump. The State Department people in Afghanistan had a party to celebrate Hillary's win on election night.

the American expatriates, Afghan elites and others who had managed to scare up invitations had gathered in the basement of the embassy—a city block-sized, blast-resistant compound as charmless as it is spotless—to watch the results of the American presidential election. The basement was dominated by State Department employees, who are officially barred from political activism while living abroad but tend to support Democrats; some, anticipating a Hillary Clinton victory, were even calling the occasion a party. On the wall hung a Donald Trump piñata.

By midmorning Kabul time, however, Trump had taken a commanding lead, and the mood in the embassy basement began to shift. Ties came undone, breakfast Danishes were anxiously devoured, and under the red, white and blue bunting, a stunned silence settled in. The cover band that had been playing earlier packed up its instruments. Some of the diplomats were typing furiously on their BlackBerrys. Others stepped outside to smoke, leaving behind a more Trump-friendly crowd of uniformed soldiers and veterans who had returned to Afghanistan as private contractors.

The left, which hates guns, thinks it will cow the 300 million gun owners with a military that is pro-Trump and many of whom remember a president who could not pronounce Corpsman.

I doubt it will get to violence, aside from the fascist thugs like those on college campuses.

I read a story yesterday that Wasserman-Schultz and John Podesta both testified to Congress that they had no knowledge about the Dossier. This testimony was taken before the law firm confirmed that the DNC and the Clinton Campaign funded it. If Nunes or Grassley wants to, they can refer this to the DoJ for a criminal perjury investigation which would allow subpoenas for the DNC's and Clinton Campaign's payment records- for example, who approved the payments from the accounts at the law firm to GPSFusion from both entities. I am guessing both deliberately and knowingly lied expecting that the law firm would take the bullets for them.

Then a number of things really soured in the relationship—and this is where Hillary Clinton comes into play. There were anti-government demonstrations in Russia following a parliamentary election in December 2011, and many observers think there was a lot of electoral fraud. Shortly after the elections, Hillary Clinton made a statement saying—and I'm paraphrasing here—every citizen should have the right to have their vote counted and elections should be free and fair. Shortly thereafter, there were demonstrations in Moscow, the biggest demonstrations since the fall of the Soviet Union, and President Putin accused Hillary Clinton of fomenting this protest, in part because of her remarks about the election. Of course, she wasn't the only foreign leader to make these sorts of remarks, but the notion that this was being done in the service of the US State Department became a consistent theme for the Kremlin.”

Willful ignorance or desperation to rationalize their vote for Trump.

“I recently interviewed Trump supporters about why they didn't believe or care about the Russia conflict. Most of them didn't understand Putin would want Trump to be president instead of Clinton.

There are two levels on which this works. The clear one is the policy level, where Hillary Clinton's policies toward Russia were rather on the hawkish end, and she was determined to stand up (in her mind) to Putin. She was much more willing to support, for example, the sending of defensive weapons to Ukraine, to help the Ukrainian army in the fighting in eastern Ukraine. She was much more willing to speak out on the domestic political situation in Russia. She was a staunch supporter of NATO, a staunch supporter of the sanctions [against Russia], and criticized Putin's annexation of Crimea.

"The personal history between Clinton and Putin is remarkably bad."

Donald Trump took completely opposite positions on all of these issues. He never talks about domestic policy within Russia, except to praise Putin. He argued that his administration would be willing to review the imposition of sanctions on Russia and said that NATO was obsolete. He said that his administration would be willing to review opposition to the annexation of Crimea.”

Yes, I was very disappointed with Chuck Todd. Not one word about the other Russia scandals, Uranium One and Clinton/DNC/Steele/FBI (?!). That last one really staggers me. A standing bureaucracy, one of the most powerful in the country, funnels money through a lawyer and then Fusion GPS to a former MI6 agent who just happened to head the Russia desk, whereupon he compiles a "dossier" containing details for which the universal word is currently "salacious." (OK, supposedly Trump hired Russian hookers to pee all over the bed the Obamas once slept in. Does that seem likely to you? Does it seem even possible? I can see a drunk high school student thinking it funny, but Trump is a looooong way past HS, and he's famously germophobic, and he's teetotal.) Who in tarnation ever thought that would be remotely proper?

Chris Christie was good, though. Or was he on "This Week"? Which did get to the Clinton Russia allegations, though the pro-Trump side was badly outgunned.

I still say that if Russia was involved in this election, it wasn't to get Trump elected, but to keep Hillary out. Or, as some have argued, to sow general confusion.

Oh, one other thing: Someone on "This Week" argued that Steve Bannon and Roy Moore prove the nature of the Trump administration. When I hear stuff like this, I want to scream. (1) Steve Bannon isn't in the Trump administration. (2) Trump supported Roy Moore's primary opponent. Yeesh, people.

Unknown Inga screeched: "This is once again, old news, being recycled "

Hmmm. That sounds really familiar. It started as a Clinton talking point during Bill's presidency.

You do not deny the accuracy. You just want people to think that it's not relevant.

Wait a minute! It's not Inga. It's Hillary!!!

It's getting harder and harder to tell delusional sociopaths apart.

Inga...Allie Oop বলেছেন...

Here’s your “breaking news”, way back from Feb.28th. Why does it seem like a good idea to recycle old news? To gin up outrage among Trumpists? Distraction from the fact Trump associates are going to be indicted tomorrow?

“BREAKING: FBI picked up the tab for Steele dossier along with Hillary; FBI paid Steele's travel and other expenses.”

http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/321643-fbi-agreed-to-pay-former-british-spy-responsible-for-russia-dossier

“The FBI agreed to pay the former British spy who authored a dossier detailing President Trump's ties to Russia, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The decision to pay former MI6 agent Christopher Steele to continue investigating Trump's ties to Moscow reportedly came after the U.S. intelligence community concluded that the Kremlin had run an influence campaign to sway the presidential election in favor of the real estate mogul.”

I hope they paid him well.

You have already argued against individuals taking personal responsibility. Are you saying that you are in favor of building a wall at our southern border to stop illicit drugs? Are you saying opiods shouldn't be prescribed? You're obviously against trying to stop addictions by changing mindsets.

Governments, like industries, collect stats on this stuff. They have to. If you're saying that results-don't matter, then why persist with the stories and anecdotes? Because you collect fancy, well-stocked ambulances? Did you pay for the "Executive Ambulance?" Was it outfitted with armor plating and the stuff of James Bond movies? Did you get the tour of it from "Q?"

After watching the best part of all of the Sunday news shows at this point, I've been struck that the one channel seemingly most focused on the expected Mueller grand jury charges, is the Fox News Channel. And their angle, if they have one, seems to be on the leak of the news.

I did see Rep. Trey Gowdy (whom I like a lot) seemingly presume that the leak of the grand jury information came from the Mueller team. And I think that is an uncharacteristic misstep by Gowdy. Reading the CNN report, it was based on "sources briefed on the matter." And the information presented was a whole lot less than what a Mueller investigative team member would know. It could easily have come from a grand jury member or staffer.

As I say, I like Gowdy a lot. I like that he does not want to speculate about the investigation. But I don't like him speculating about who leaked the information, when he probably doesn't know at all.

The Wall Street Journal also identified its own sources as "people close to the matter." (Lots of folks have tried to attack this story as a CNN exclusive, but the WSJ had its own sources, they say, and described them in similar terms which makes me suspect that someone on the receiving end of the investigation -- not the Mueller team -- was the source.

What bullshit. Cite your source. The fact is that the RX opioids cause more lethal overdoses than heroin. You are not informed on this subject. My line of work touches on it closely though - so my bottom-line is directly impacted on knowing it accurately. If you don't want to cite, then leave it. Admit that it's just another thing that righties pontificate on without improving because they detach themselves from outcomes and responsibility and think the whole point is to just touch people's emotional hot buttons without resolving/addressing effectively.

Illicit drugs are the major player when you are talking about substance abuse.

I don't know what a "major player" is. A major-league ball player? What substances? Use precise language. This is medicine, not mall shopping.

You have already argued against individuals taking personal responsibility.

Another muddied, nonsense statement.

Are you saying that you are in favor of building a wall at our southern border to stop illicit drugs? Are you saying opiods shouldn't be prescribed? You're obviously against trying to stop addictions by changing mindsets.

If you want to know what I think, then ask. If you want to ask rhetorical questions to invigorate your loyalty to Team RIght-WIng though, then count me out.

Also, they're called opioids, NOT opiods.

Turn your spell-check on and then your factual accuracy meter might follow.

Trey Gowdy Says Don’t Fire Mueller

LMAO! “Do something!”

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/10/do-something-panicky-trump-tweets-about-phony-trumprussia-collusion-as-monday-arrests-loom

“President Donald Trump got a later start than usual on Twitter Sunday morning, claiming that the GOP has joined him in his anger at Hillary Clinton’s supposed involvement in a dossier that still could prove damaging to the president.

According to the tweeting president, Clinton is personally responsible for the dossier that was initially financed by a conservative critic.

Writing on Twitter, Trump claimed, “Never seen such Republican ANGER & UNITY as I have concerning the lack of investigation on Clinton made Fake Dossier (now $12,000,000?),….”

Moments later he added, “…the Uranium to Russia deal, the 33,000 plus deleted Emails, the Comey fix and so much more. Instead they look at phony Trump/Russia “collusion,” which doesn’t exist. The Dems are using this terrible (and bad for our country) Witch Hunt for evil politics, but the R’s …are now fighting back like never before. There is so much GUILT by Democrats/Clinton, and now the facts are pouring out. DO SOMETHING!”“

They actually export ambulances. Video of Sydney ambulance in Sydney.

Wow, Moonie. So you saw The Godfather. That's impressive.

If your point is that the world's problems are going to be solved by dumbasses like yourself, then I think I see your point. But they're not. So you can go back to boasting about your overpriced house to whichever non-San Franciscan is around and "potentially" interested enough to make you feel better about yourself for blathering it to them, while enjoying the life afforded by your many other non-accomplishments.

Now, wouldn't that be more fun? Apparently not, but I figured I'd ask.

Too many smart people are deliberately missing the point on this FBI -
Fusion GPS dossier. Steel was paid to manufacture a fake dossier that
could be used by Obama's FBI to ask for an otherwise illegal wiretap
on the Trump campaign. Then, after those 'intercepts' were labeled
national security intercepts, the principles could be 'unmasked' to
expose the people involved.

The so called 'investigators' at Fusion GPS were journalists who know
how to package the product to make it acceptible to news media who
would publish it; journalists who were known to other journalists

The whole thing was fake. Money paid to fabulists to write fiction
that could be passed off as 'intelligence'. It was fraud all the way
up and down the money trail. Fraud, libel, slander, treason.

A massive fraud perpetrated by The US Federal Government for the
benefit of a democrat party candidate for president.

"Also... Hello! Drugs don't have to be prescribed for the addict to increase the rate of addiction. There is overprescribing. Period, end of story."

So the contradiction in what you just wrote escapes you? Illicit drugs and personal responsibility have nothing to do with it, just over prescribing? Glad you could get to the heart of the matter so succinctly. I guess the drug problem is now solved. Period, end of story.

If you could show a little more intellectual honesty, and just a bit of logic you might not be treated so badly around here.

OH, and just so everyone else knows: It usually takes Moonie about a day (or even twelve hours) for his stupor to wear off and realize how embarrassingly stupid his comments were, before he deletes them. But in the meantime they give him the fuel he needs for his BS machine to stay cranked up and in full gear.

Bragging about his house to the other SF crowd gets boring so he drinks a lot. It's possible he'll get help for that before polluting another thread, but not likely. Beating one's chest is probably not something his neighbors approve of, so deleting evidence of what a stank ass he was remains important for him once the alcohol's pissed away. He doesn't want to appear too foreign to them, apparently.

Are you saying opiods shouldn't be prescribed?

They shouldn't be overprescribed.

You're obviously against trying to stop addictions by changing mindsets.

That doesn't work, medically. Addiction is not overcome by increasing supply and taking responsibility from gatekeeper/prescriber to addict. Show an example where that occurs. You have about as much business in public health as a monkey does running a nuclear sub.

Too ignorant to have invested in real estate in SF bay area.

The "SF bay area" has limited housing, and limited population capacity. You're really, er, "contending" that anyone who doesn't is "ignorant?" That this is your sole criterion for assessing someone's intelligence.

Well, for someone as dumb and lucky and unintelligent as you I could see that being the case, but that's because you're a boring, unresourceful and belligerent moron.
