Painting your stretch marks.

"This started a stage in my artistic career where I began to show every aesthetic pressure that against women and non-normative bodies," says Tort Cartró. "Maybe that inspiration led me to transform stretch marks into art, to work with colour and have the ability to make people reflect on the beauty that they have."

AND: Let me front-page something I just wrote in the comments: "Deciding that stretch marks are beautiful strikes me as pretty similar to coming to think that tattoos look good all over a woman's arms and shoulders. Do we want unmarked skin or not? Does a blank expanse of skin look too plain to people now?"

21 yr olds have stretch marks?

I knew a kid whose beer belly grew so fast he had atrocious red and blue stretch marks all across his abdomen.

We used to call him "T-Map" because it looked like the subway map for the MBTA.

In the necrotic vein of go along to get along... with your body, people will just stop trying, striving.

Let's open the abortion chambers and celebrate the "stretch marks". Progress takes an ever progressive turn to navel gazing.

Herein lies the heart and soul of the art industry in our time.

There are some links that will remain terra incognita in the Cracker internet atlas. This is one of them.

My wife's dumpy cousin had gone to some sort of body-awareness seminar. One of the exercises was to make a plaster cast of her considerable torso. In a moment of fun (I like fun) I suggested she use it as a Jello mold. And for her wedding reception, by God, she did: Lime Jello with cottage cheese and little marshmallows, not for the squeamish.

That's a lot of jello.

"Loving yourself is a revolutionary act," she continues.

Marx thought that Hegelian Idealism, & philosophy in general, was "mental masturbation".

Now, we've come so far in post-revolutionary consciousness that vanity, which is truly mental masturbation, is considered a "revolutionary act".

So, how long before we get put into gulags for not loving ourselves enough? "But, comrade, I'm whacking off as hard as I can!" "Comrade, if you consider base onanism to be the same as loving yourself you truly misunderstand the Party Line in all its profundity!".

Aesthetic pressure against women and non-normative bodies is for the most part subsidized by women. If magazines featuring "normative" bodies suddenly did not sell, or fashion products found no market...

But hey, she found a new way to market her artwork. Go figure.

It's a good idea to not get too fixated on how you look.

Paint the stretch marks on women who are already beautiful.

Henry म्हणाले...

Stretchmarks are often beautiful, anyway.

Fake news. Should have been red and green stretch marks. No one rides the blue line.

The contemplation of things as they are
without error or confusion
without substitution or imposture
is in itself a nobler thing
than a whole harvest of invention.

I'm glad it's just paint and not permanent. The photos are kind of pretty and fun and you can wash the paint off. That being said, I'm really tired of all this "empowerment" and "accepting your body" by publically displaying everything hype.
