"The greater conniption the left has, the better the decision is, and that's what everybody needs to come to realize."

"The bigger conniption fit the media has or the left, the better the decision."

Said Rush Limbaugh today, talking about the Trump transition.
The Trump transition team is not imploding, folks.  It is getting set to kick ass.  What the media is trying to tell you, apparently there was some movement.  Trump decided to get rid of some people, the Chris Christie team, apparently, in the process of putting together a national security team, and Mike Rogers was part of this, and Christie made a mistake, he went out and he was recruiting some lobbyists.  Trump has made it plain and been very clear about it, that there aren't gonna be any lobbyists.  He's not going to have the traditional Washington trappings to his administration....

[H]e found out people were doing things he didn't want done and he moved them out and he's replacing them.  What's imploding is the media.... They're already ticked off that Trump went to dinner last night.  Have you heard about this?  Trump ditched the media and went to dinner.  He went to 21.  He had dinner with his family.  Media is outraged.  How dare he leave without telling us.  How dare he leave without taking us....
I've been advising anti-Trumpers to resist over-emotionalism, to be respectful, and to wait for specific policy proposals to object to and protest. I like peace and rationality and hate seeing the losing side in the election freaking out. But Limbaugh thinks the freakout — the "conniption" — is good for Trump. It's a test of whether he's really "draining the swamp." And I would add that disorder looks bad to people on the outside. You may get your protests cranked up and feel that your righteous anger is helping your cause, but don't forget how it looks to the rest of the country, especially people who just saw their side win the election. Don't they deserve the fruits of their victory? I said much the same thing when people here in Madison went wild after Scott Walker took office in 2011. I think the protesters believed they'd pulled off something epic and wonderful, but they were cementing Walker's victory, and 5 years later, the state government is even more firmly in the grip of a Republican majority.

There is a chart out that shows how many top advisors were chosen in each week following the election of a new admin.

Trump has already chosen more for posts than most other admins had in the first week going back for many years.

Trumps lack of government experience might warrant a more cautious and more patient pace of decision, but I like that the msm's hair continues to burn. You are right Professor, it only cements their losing fate. WI is instructive.

NPR could speak of nothing this afternoon except the disarray and confusion in the Trump transition team. To clarify the situation for their listeners NPR consulted people who had never spoken to Trump and had never read anything about him except stuff written by equally clueless writers. NPR's favorite word was bloodletting, which they think is bad and implies violence. When the word was coined it implied a medical procedure, a purge of what has made the patient sick.

Bloodletting was their word, deliberately applied to a situation the NPR producer did not understand and had no wish to understand. When a Democrat does this it is called reform. When Trump reforms government it's called bloodletting.

No one except the media is going to feel sorry for the media. Lack of transparency? I hope he shuts out CNN & NBC entirely. I think it's one major reason Trump won. He didn't backpedal and kowtow to the MSM. For those of us who have hated them for years, it was a breath of fresh air.

This behavior by Trump led to serious misreporting by the media. He had a burger, not a steak. Misinformation!

Also, how the hell did a reporter actually sitting at a table at the restaurant tweet that it was Keens, not the 21 Club? Every reporter worth his or her shaken or stirred martini knows Keens has pipes on the ceiling not the miscellaneous crap at the 21 Club. Unforgivable. But probably explains the misreporting on the steak vs. burger.

The lefties went Godwin in less than ten comments!

Ivana (Ivanka's mom) beat us to it:

Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade. Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist.

"Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches?" I asked Trump.

Trump hesitated. "Who told you that?"

"I don't remember," I said.

"Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he's a Jew." ("I did give him a book about Hitler," Marty Davis said. "But it was My New Order, Hitler's speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish.")

Later, Trump returned to this subject. "If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."

In college, Hitler was one of my areas of study. I find the failure of things endlessly fascinating and the failure of Weimar and what it led to interested me greatly. I even saw Nazi propaganda in one of my courses to show the potential impact of it on a society. I didn't see how it could work as it seemed so over-the-top, but perhaps, because it was new, it worked.

I don't think Hitler has much to teach about leadership as his style is not one that works today. Much like Wilson's bullshit act wouldn't go far today, either.

RIck - college campuses don't load you up into cattle cars, deport you, or worse. Sure, access to them might be limited. But that's only because you failed the entrance exams.

But where did Nazism REALLY first take hold? On college campuses. Nazi youth groups were the vanguards. They and their faculty were very supportive of Nazis long before the public was. And the public was never THAT enamored with them. They were, in the eyes of many, the lesser of two evils (one can argue that they were. The other option were Communists who were no better). They wanted a sense of community and the Nazis seemed to provide that.

Send the elite academians to "work camps". Hard work will cure them of the "liberal".

Send them to the real world where results are expected and their theories won't have a bunch of impressionable imbeciles forced to play along. DePaul tried to arrest Ben Shapiro for talking there. নামহীন বলেছেন...

This problem has been getting worse. This is now the third straight presidential win by a Republican greeted by a noted inability to accept the results. In 2000 at least Gore accepted the results once the Court fight was done, though many persisted in considering that election stolen right through until 2004. And then in 2004, the legitimacy of Ohio's vote was called into question despite a relatively decent margin. Now in 2016 there are calls for the Electors to disregard the will of the voters and violence is called for against Trump by at least some. Is the next Republican win going to lead to calls for outright civil war?

The attitudes in some way parallel the election of 1860 and the refusal of the South to even let Lincoln take office before doing something hot-headed and stupid like secession. The irony for the South is that had they had faith in the Constitutional procedures in place, there was no logical reason for them to do anything - they had enough states to block any amendment barring slavery then and still would today. They just couldn't accept THAT man as President, and destroyed themselves over it.

See, you raise a good point and a fair objection. But then there's this huge problem: The guy's entire political approach (birtherism and a campaign kicked-off on clear castigation of ethnic groups - Mexicans - combined with economic nationalism).

Where have we seen this before?

What other politicians build their movements this way?

Obama did.

College campuses are overrun by trigglypuffs who attack and shout down people who disagree with them.

Obama also moved us strongly towards corporatism. Hitler didn't take over the means of production. He just teamed up with certain big corporations and removed their competition creating the fascist economy where the state controlled production without owning it. Dodd-Frank caused unprecedented consolidation in the banking industry with the big 5 sucking up the assets of large numbers of small local banks for example.

Let us not forget the weaponization of the federal bureaucracy either. The IRS and EPA in particular were sent after his political enemies.

And as a white male I am tired of people telling me how racist I am. It gets old. Trump is not Hitler. I am not a Nazi. This is othering. Obama turned me into the other. The media is still treating us like the other. College campuses treat us like the other.

People are running around waving Mexican flags and burning stuff. I know a lot of people from Mexico. They left Mexico because it is a shithole. They don't want the US to turn into Mexico. Not wanting the US to become Mexico is not racist.

I might not "love" Milo, but I appreciate about 65% of what he's doing.

He's young. Some day he'll learn that being able to mop the floor with one's enemies comes at the price of overestimating the righteousness of one's cause. His cause is a good one, but anything can be taken too far. Anything. There is no virtue in hubris.

So maybe calling Trump and his supporters Nazi's fits here somewhere?

By the way he just kicked Christy out for staffing up with lobbyists and Rogers got the boot in that purge. Can't we say the purge of the parasites and cronies in DC is more like 80% agreement? It is the first step no matter what you might disagree on policy wise.

"If we start seeing Trump Youth Groups, it's too late."

Just chill. It will never get that far. Unless you enjoy working yourself up over this election you have noting to fear unless you're here illegally.

"Where have we seen this before?"

What do we have here that Germany didn't have in 1934?

Oh. I didn't realize she was on the list of censored sources.

No, but "But what about the Dingell-Norwood bill?" If that's your kill shot, then have at it, just like before. Because that worked so well!

Usually in the movies where the bullets bounce off of the monster, eventually, they stop trying to shoot the monster. But you go ahead. Like Leslie Nielsen in Creepshow II, yelling "I can hold my breath a long, long time!" as the tide rolls in.

Like Jonathan Pie said, your shit isn't working anymore! Please, everybody would love it if you upped your game.

On Jeopardy you have to answer in the form of a question, so:

What is "a rifle behind every blade of grass," Alex?

Indeed we've been far closer without being close.

R&B,

Reforming academia should be a high priority but calling them Nazis seems extreme.

Lol. The hypocrisy in this statement is intense. I wonder who else wanted to control academia... had mass burning of books, even. I wonder.

Aside from the usual shit-slinging from you, which don't get me wrong we all know and love,◐.̃◐ maybe this can be a teachable moment. "you" think "we're" 1932 Germany, that President Trump is Hitler, and we are somewhere between the future Totenkopf and the regular old "good Germans." with a few White Rose types which doubtless will be all you.

Well old buddy, in "our" minds, which you can respect and empathize as much or as little as you wish,

we just beat Stalin, Big Brother and Ellsworth Toohey all in one. We saved the Republic.

So we feel pretty good about that.

Think it over and tell us what shit we are.

Any book given to one by anyone, especially a friend, is legitimate to read. No point in your whole deal here, just drop it (advice not orders).

Some blogger has an instructional thread on how to buy a gun for liberals. Of course if they hadn't actively tried to undermine the 2ndA over the years they'd have an easier time, but there are always safety pins.

"People didn't give Hitler or Mussolini enough of a chance, either."

Because, it's always 1933 and the Reichstag is about to burn. Therefore Trump may be, must be, opposed by any means necessary ?

The Nazi electoral victory was followed by Brownshirts marching in the streets, intimidating (and beating where necessary) anyone who'd opposed them. BUT it's not Trump supporters we see marching in the streets, is it?

Does the Left have no introspection at all? Does it not remember how much political violence began by de-legitimizing and dehumanizing the opposition? After all, if your opposition is Nazi/alt-right then anything you do is fully justified, isn't it?

NBC, perhaps, confuses "transparency" - something I don't recall them lamenting a lack of these past 8 years - with "being buddy-buddy with the press".

Something I prefer - the lack, that is - from any Administration, but only get from Republicans.

Because the press loves Democrats.

Limbaugh has a point. I was lukewarm about the prospect of a Trump presidency, and only wanted him to win in order to send the Alinskyite Witch back to Chappaqua. But in the last months of the election, when it was clear Trump was so feared and loathed by the statist Hive (to use Joseph Sobran's metaphor) that they were going nuts and even resurrecting the little-girl-nuked ad from the 1964 presidential election, I got more and more excited by the idea of Trump putting the boots to that bunch of scum. Trump, you magnificent bastard, you did it!
