"I do think that Kellyanne Conway accomplished perhaps the biggest turnaround in campaign-management history..."

"... and I don’t think Trump could have won without her. But, you know, you’re not a real First Woman if you’re not also a Democrat, because sexism."

Mika, on Morning Joe, asked her, in her most disapproving scowl, if she was "proud of what she had done." She answered "Yes! I am proud, and euphoric!" I would have said "fuck you very much" at the end of that answer, myself, instead of just implying it.

Gahrie म्हणाले...

She should be named Trump's chief of staff.

Amexpat म्हणाले...

She deserves a lot of credit. Even SNL admired her in this skit:

Conway is a genius. No doubt about it.

Someday there will be a book published about the inner workings of the Trump campaign, that blackest of all black swan events on the American political horizon, & I'm sure Conway's part in all this will be one of the most interesting stories of the bunch.

Personally, I'd like to know the brand name of the cattle prod she had to use on The Donald to get him to see reality sometimes. I could use a good cattle prod every now & then.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Why indeed?

Kellyanne will not be praised by most women because she outshines them brilliantly in every female category, and then she adds in being totally cute. And to top that off she shows us a steely male strength of character.

In short, she must cheat... like Gulliver in Gulliver's Travels.

But she is one reason that we know Trump was chosen by God to win this. God gave him Kellyanne Conway.

Sprezzatura म्हणाले...

Isn't part of the reason that the folks who are following closely know that she was a figurehead? Bannon was managing while she was doing press and consulting type stuff.

BTW, if anyone isn't getting their deserved spotlight it seems like that person is Bannon.

Brando म्हणाले...

Still on vacation but just wanted to make a few points:

1) while I allowed for the polls to be off, I was skeptical of a Trump upset. I was wrong and owe an apology to those I didn't believe. Ultimately the Dems nominated someone bad enough to lose to Trump and even I underestimated how much she could blow an election.

2) I didn't think I'd see it but it's nice to think this is the last we'll see of the Clintons. Also, to all the crooked cronies and donors to her foundation who expected big favors when she got elected? Ha ha ha too bad!

3) I also hope I'm wrong about the type of president Trump will be. With the GOP now holding all of government they will be accountable and no longer have the excuse to do nothing. Sadly I still think they'll find a way to do nothing but at least they can't keep blaming Obama when they fail. Here's hoping Trump governs wisely and passes conservative policies.

4) Also, my depression over Scalias death turned around--with Hillary out, these at least a chance a conservative is nominated and what's the chance Kennedy and Ginsburg both last past 2020?

Anyway should be interesting. To those predicting a Trump win, (but not landslide) mea culpa--I shouldn't have doubted you.

Bay Area Guy म्हणाले...

Kellyanne did it -- she is a winner. She's now up there in the pantheon of James Carville, Karl Rove, and David Axelrod. (Dick Morris has been demoted).

She'll get no credit though as the "First Woman to do X," because that entire meme is reserved solely for liberal women, liberal blacks, liberal hispanics. Another example of the dishonest Left.

How many plaudits did Alberto Gonzalez get as the first Hispanic Attorney General? (..crickets...)

n.n म्हणाले...

As Palin before her, Conway unravels their tightly wound ball of yarns and leaves them thoroughly discombobulated.

David Begley म्हणाले...

Conway and Bannon were the right team. Also give Trump credit for firing Corey and Manafort.

Hagar म्हणाले...

Kellyanne Conway reminds me of Dolly Parton; a most formidable woman.

(And Bay Area Guy, that is not a nice crowd to compare her with!)

David Begley म्हणाले...

According to the Dems, Conway is not an "authentic" woman because she is conservative. Per Madeline Albright, there is a special place in hell reserved for her because she did not back Hillary. Crazy.

William म्हणाले...

I saw her interviews the morning after. It's easy to be gracious and good humored in a moment of triumph, but it's just as easy to look smug and arrogant. She had been up all night and received some hostile questions. She never once lost her grace or composure and replied to all questions with just the right amount of deflection and humility. She was really quite impressive. Trump needs her. She completes him.

JAORE म्हणाले...

If she replaces Rove as the "campaign expert" for the right on cable news I will say a little prayer of thanks.

Matt Sablan म्हणाले...

She is heads above Rove and Axelrod. They both had some things working in their favor when they won their campaigns.

She literally came in to a train wreck, got it back on track and *won*.

And lets not forget this woman.

"The roots of Donald Trump's historic presidential victory go back eight years to the 2008 presidential contest and the V.P. candidacy of Sarah Palin. Palin, or more properly Palinism, had many of the same characteristics as the Trump ascendancy: a robust patriotic populism driven by intense love of country and rejection of big-government internationalism embodied by Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton. Palinism also introduced Americans to the political struggle not as Left vs. Right, but as Country Class vs. Ruling Class, Bluebloods vs. Commoners, Ivy League vs. College of Hard Knocks, Urban Elite vs. Middle and Rural Working Class.

In this respect, then, Sarah Palin was the pioneer, with the arrows in her back to prove it, who enabled Donald Trump's amazing success."

I've also found it hilarious that libs think conservatives don't approve of strong-willed and powerful women, when we all worshiped at Maggie Thatcher's feet and would've voted to make her an honorary U.S. citizen in a heartbeat.

Seeing Red म्हणाले...

Dick Morris did say one thing years ago, Hilllary Clinton would never be president. I have hung on to that. I would have crawled across broken glass to vote against her. I thought back in the 90s, she set Feminism back 50 years. I was right.

Larry J म्हणाले...

Look at Trump's campaign marathon last Monday and you'll see her genius at work. While Hillary was trying to prop up her campaign in blue states (and ended up losing several of them), Trump went to 5 blue states and won most of them. Here's his Monday itenery:

Florida - win
North Carolina - win
Pennsylvania - win
New Hampshire - latest looks like he's trailing but too close to call
Michigan - leading but too close to call

Matt Sablan म्हणाले...

I think the biggest lesson from this is that to get votes, sometimes you just have to ask for them. No one really asked a lot of these people to vote for them before, at least, not on a sort of pseudo-political personal level.

Trump did by just showing up.

I expect the next presidential election will have a lot more rallies from every candidate.

holdfast म्हणाले...

I think her somewhat squeaky voice causes folks to misunderestimate her. I suspect she knows that and routinely uses it to her advantage.

I have to second that. I was sure that Team Hillary had this thing stolen weeks ago. We may still find out that there was much voter fraud underfoot but thank God it was not enough to make a difference. I am most pleased that we are nearing the end of the line for both President Three-putt and Team Clinton. I will (heavily) drink to that!

Achilles म्हणाले...

GOPe types are still trying to claim Romney or Rubio would have done better. These people are so lame.

NRO: Trump would have defeated Obama.

Conaway > Rove

Trump > Romney McCain Bush Dole Bush.

Trump is the best republican nominee since Reagan.

holdfast म्हणाले...

Both PA and NH have been the GOP's "Lucy and the football" for years. Conway and Bannon figured out how to crack PA. Screw NH and all its Massholes.

eric म्हणाले...

Btw, didn't Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter come out during the primaries and support Trump?

Seems like some of the right most women, whom the media seriously hate, had their way.

I hope Trump gives a large middle finger to them by appointing them to positions in his administration.

Achilles म्हणाले...

I am also going to point out the Bush wing of the GOPe was saying the same garbage about Reagan then they are saying about Trump now.

These people never learn.

Achilles म्हणाले...

Ultimately the Dems nominated someone bad enough to lose to Trump and even I underestimated how much she could blow an election.

If you repeat assertions without support often enough it doesn't make it right. Your feelings are clouding your judgement. Classic confirmation bias minus the confirmation. This is also known as projection.

Late comment, but since I don't watch TV, I've never heard of her.

I suppose her name showed-up on the web, but I never connected the dots that she was anyone important.

I guess I was too inundated with news about emails and such.

Originally, Conway was tearing up the media for Ted Cruz. She was so good you could not stop looking at her. After Trump saw that, he said " You're hired."

"Trump is the best republican nominee since Reagan."

Yep. Yesterday I was thinking, "Hmm ... this is a vaguely familiar feeling, reminds me of something from long ago, but what is it ... Oh, I've got it! The day after the 1980 election!"

I was the only person in my office who walked to work that day with a spring in my step and a smile on my face.

MayBee म्हणाले...

Good for you, Kellyanne. You did a great job.

Big Mike म्हणाले...

That's the thing about Trump. While many women who should have known better were running around with their respective hairdos on fire over remarks he made, some of us were noting that Trump employs a lot of women in senior positions (including campaign manager!), gives them a fair chance to show what they can do, and treats them with respect. Once upon a time women only wanted a fair chance to do the same job as any man. Now, as Paglia has noted, women demand to be coddled like so many eggs.

As with Barack Obama, ignore what is said and watch what is done.

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

She should be named Trump's chief of staff.

I was thinking press secretary. She is amazing on her feet, and handles hostile press questions exceedingly well. I think she would be a wonderful public face of the Trump administration. She has a nimble, quick-mind and is razor sharp.

Kate म्हणाले...

The WH has never had a female Chief of Staff. Conway could go higher, but let's start with her there.

richardsson म्हणाले...

gadfly म्हणाले...

So what did she do except appear on TV for Trump? She is but another Trump pretty face. If she was fat, old and ugly, she would not have gotten the job. Without a doubt, Steve Bannon ran the campaign and Corey Lewandowski remained, despite his so-called firing, on the Trump payroll, consulting at $20K a month.

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

The WH has never had a female Chief of Staff. Conway could go higher, but let's start with her there.

Chief of Staff is high status/low profile.

Press Secretary is low status/high profile.

She could be a rock star as a press secretary. The vast majority of people have no idea who she is. She was amazing in her interviews with the media. One of the best I've ever seen. Trump's fights with the press will be a major part of his administration, so I think his press secretary is a vital and important job.

Or, to put it another way, a lot of people can organize and plan (chief of staff job). That might be her skill set, too, I don't know. What I do know, because I saw it, is that she is amazing on her feet, dealing with hostile questions. And there will be a lot of them!

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

Trump might consider his own daughter for chief of staff.
