"I’ll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show and everyone’s getting dressed. No men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in, because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it."

"'Is everyone OK?' You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. 'Is everybody OK?' And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that."

Said Donald Trump to Howard Stern in a newly released recording — just as 4 women from the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant say that Donald Trump walked in on them while they were undressed.
“I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, ‘Oh my god, there’s a man in here,’” said Mariah Billado, the former Miss Vermont Teen USA. Trump, she recalled, said something like, “Don’t worry, ladies, I’ve seen it all before.”
He's saying that to teenagers. Maybe the 4 women are not being completely honest — they might oppose him as a political candidate — but you have that corroborating statement from Trump himself. And look how his statement is an idea we've heard before: "I sort of get away with things like that" is like "They let you do it....  Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything" and not all that different from "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

Digging into old, stupid "statements" of 10 -20 years ago doesn't address the future needs of the country (jobs, debt, crime, immigration, etc, etc.)

But, alas, Trump talks a lot, politics ain't beanbag, and the Dems will press any advantage they can get.

Amadeus 48 म्हणाले...

Althouse--That pussy thing? That was a misunderstanding. He was talking about seduction by taking women to the animal shelter and checking out the kittens. You know, they went grocery shopping, he helped out with errands, they went to the Humane Society, she picked up a pussy, and Trump grabbed it as it squirmed out of her embrace. A star can do anything!

Brando म्हणाले...

"But, alas, Trump talks a lot, politics ain't beanbag, and the Dems will press any advantage they can get."

This is like the "binders full of women" thing, but played to the max. Team Hillary knows that white women are the demographic that can sink Trump, and anything they can do to keep his numbers down with them will work.

Looking back, it may have helped him more to get that all leaked and aired a year ago, play it out, so that it'd be stale by now. The distraction more than anything is preventing him from making up ground.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Maybe at that time he was self-identifying as a teenage girl? You aren't suggesting he doesn't have the right to do that, are you? That would make you a bigot of the highest order.

Brando म्हणाले...

Can anyone though--pro-Trump or anti-Trump--seriously say that any of these latest revelations shocked or even surprised them? I'm also including the tax documents leak--all of this has practically been part of his brand.

I think his polling slide has more to do with an increase of Dems among "likely voters" in the polls--that is, more Dems being energized to vote, rather than pro-Trumps dropping their support. Just a theory, anyway.

Eleanor म्हणाले...

I don't really care what Trump has said or done to women. If he did something illegal to you, go to the police and file a complaint. If not, stop whining. Put on your big girl panties and go parade around the stage in them. This election is not about groping women or using vulgar language. It's about what direction the country is going. After years of whining women should be as free as men are sexually, we're back to fainting couches. Hillary is just as vulgar in her language as any man I've ever met. Good for her. Now what are we going to do about the economy, health care, immigration, nuclear proliferation, and all the other important stuff? Because that's what any woman with any sense cares about.

Disgusting for sure.

Maybe only a guy as rude, crude and crazy as Trump would be willing to take on the Deep State that is running the country since GHW Bush,

Every other politician, I should say "every politician," is looking to get rich from politics and knows that he must toe the line of the donor class.

I can't help wondering with each of these Trump "hidden in plain sight" disclosures. Why, with $100 million, could Jeb Bush's campaign not discover any of these? Was it all going into consultant pockets? Same question for the Rubio/Cruz/NeverTrump well-funded campaigns. Don't blame Trump for the Republican Party demise: the Republican Establishment is apparently too stupid to survive.

Not me. But then again I'm extremely jaded. Trump is exactly who I thought he was: A loud boorish pig who is obsessed with superficial things.

That said, if Hillary is even a fraction of who I think she is, then she's a hell of a lot worse than Trump.

In my mind the case for voting for Trump was never about voting for Trump. It was about voting for the candidate most likely to defeat a woman who openly flouts the law. You remember the law, don't you Professor? It's supposed to bind all of us, but today we have a candidate who has been enabled for many years when it comes to sliding by with illegal and extra-legal activities. Now she might be in the White House for four years or longer. Does that not scare anyone reading this?

Gusty Winds म्हणाले...

After Hillary is elected the feminists will pat themselves on the back, but the victory will be short lived, and regretted. And on Campus, our intellectuals will tell themselves that their efforts were worth it. Future Miss pageant contestants will have been protected. Offense toward the sensibilities of the American woman will no longer be tolerated.

But Hillary's campaign promises made to defeat ISIS with air power only will have to be delivered. Politicized generals will praise her plans. Any hope of diplomatic negotiations with Russia will have been tossed out the window after all the public hacking allegations, and the public vilification of Putin. Iran will have money to spend, and oil to distribute.

Hillary will flex her muscle and try and enforce a UN approved no-fly zone over Syria. She will punch the middle east tar baby once again, and the United States will find itself in conflict with both Russia and Iran. She will further arm Syrian 'rebels' to do the ground fighting against ISIS. Some of their weapons will end up in the hands of ISIS, others will be used against Russia-Iran backed Assad forces. Lessons of toppling Saddam, Gadaffi, and Mubarak will be ignored.

But we will engage the battle for the children. And fighting aged Syrian men will continue to flee and pour into Europe, and they will be flown the the US on our dime, while our sons daughters fight for them over Syria.

And we will look back and wonder why we didn't join forces with Russia to defeat ISIS, let Assad remain on his throne, and just go the fuck home.

They both have a lot of support that is very weak and tentative. It doesn't take much to pull some of that away, especially among undecideds. The revelations about Trump are more embarrassing to defend for many. They don't move me at all, but obviously from the lost support among some high profile Republicans to the polls, he's blowing it. It could have gone the other way, but he's not sharp enough, waited too long, and is targeting the wrong people. Who is moved to vote for him when he attacks other Republicans? It only reinforces the support among those he already has and alienates some who might still vote for him. He keeps stroking his base and losing votes in the process. Dumb.

eric म्हणाले...

I think they accidentally released these in reverse order.

I mean, it's a little hard to get outrageously outraged at trump each week over the same thing. You're supposed to build this up.

The implication here, of course, is that he is a perv, walking in on young girls. But they're mixing the two things, so Trump can deny it. Yeah, I walked in, on adult women.

And of course, he is going to have teens who are now adults that will say, "He never walked in on me." And thus bolster his side of the story.

They should have started here. And then moved to the private conversation. Would have hit him harder.

Brando म्हणाले...

"Jeb is such an idiot. All that money and he couldn't find any of this during the primary. But maybe it would not have mattered. How many of Trump's primary voters were white women?"

Jeb showed us how to waste a ton of cash trying to fight off Marco Rubio. It was sort of like "Brewster's Millions." Most of his attacks on Trump were of the "he's not a real conservative" vein--which of course doesn't mean a thing to his core supporters, who don't care whether he's a "conservative" if by "conservative" we mean people like Jeb.

If I were advising a candidate, I'd consider it imperative to find out anything potentially damaging about the candidate in advance so we can plan the leaks and spin accordingly, getting it out of the way ahead of time. It's not so much that late revelations damage the candidate as it is that they distract--you and your surrogates are spending precious days answering questions about the scandal and not focusing people on what you want to.

I wouldn't be surprised if this sort of thing keeps dribbling out for the next few weeks. Any day we're not thinking about Hillary helps Hillary.

Brando म्हणाले...

I'm assuming all the women in these pageants were adult women. And at least semi-professionals, who aren't going to freak out about an authorized man walking in on them.

Much ado about nothing. But then I thought a dog in a crate on your car was nothing, too.

You missed the pivot. She was cruelly neutral, but trump lost her. For some reason, she hasn't come out and made her, "How Trump lost me post" but I'd imagine it's pretty obvious to her readers, and probably even to her, that trump has lost her. Maybe she doesn't like to decide so early. Maybe she is holding out to get closer to the moment she actually votes, so she can remain cruelly neutral. But, if voting was held today, she wouldn't be voting for trump.

BarrySanders20 म्हणाले...

I've never been in a beauty contest, but I've done some modeling and runway. And it's true, you just have to get dressed in front of everybody and people involved in the show just come in and out of the backstage area. Everyone just politely pretends they can't see everyone else, but if you are in a show where there are male models and female models and male clients and female clients, you all can see everything.

So his crime here, I guess, is that he's talking about what is obviously true.

eric म्हणाले...

Oh, and BuzzFeed already proved my prediction true. They reached 11 contestants who said they never saw Trump in the dressing room and some said he couldn't even have gotten back in there.

I did some plays in junior high and high school. Sometimes I played multiple characters and had to do quick costume changes, and so did some of the girls. As my junior high school director once said, "If you're modest, you're in the wrong line of work." By the time I was in high school, I was suffering from cystic acne, which mortified me, even though it never really attacked my face, but mostly my back. I commented about it in the presence of a beautiful young woman who was also involved in drama, and she said something to the effect of "I've seen it, and it doesn't bother me," from which I gleaned two pieces of information: she'd taken note of me pretty much unclothed in the course of at least one frenzied costume change and, contra my expectation at the time, wasn't disgusted.

In retrospect, I wish I'd made an effort to talk with her more after that...

The point, of course, is: if you're in a play, or a pageant, or something else that involves changes of clothing in order to participate in a presentation, you kind of know you're going to be seen by strangers, not necessarily of the same sex. Everyone relies on everyone else to behave appropriately, professionally. If that breaks down, then you go through the normal ethical and/or legal reporting and escalation process. What we're hearing here is bits and pieces of Donald Trump's internal monologue, a monologue we already knew he has a marked tendency to externalize with fewer filters than most people. And yes, I think it matters that there's a kind of self-deprecating social commentary attached to it—he acknowledges that he has power, and this power lets him get away with things he wouldn't otherwise be able to. That reflection alone continues to put him megaparsecs ahead, ethically, of Hillary Clinton, who gives no evidence of having such an insight in the first place, let alone doing anything so self-limiting as expressing it verbally to another human being.

If elected President, Trump would not get away with anything. If elected President, Hillery will have only the GOP paying attention. Any criminal activity by her will be dismissed with pardons, immunities, and destruction of evidence, with the press helpfully explaining it all away. The GOP wouldn't have the balls to attempt to impeach the first woman president. She would be untouchable.

Bay Area Guy म्हणाले...

Even if Trump is facing a political death from a thousand cuts, even if he wasn't my first choice in the primaries, and even if he is not a Conservative, I refuse to jump ship.

The reason is simple:

1. Most of the problems in our country (poor schools, crime, illegal immigration, slow growth) in my opinion are caused by the Left. This wasn't always true (see racial problems, Mississippi circa 1950s). But it is true now.

2. Hillary, herself, by tone and temperament, is fairly moderate. She's a grandma lawyer, who's made millions, and succeeded wildly in politics.

3. But, Hillary's followers are the problem. They want higher taxes, more government, more kangaroo courts on campuses, designed to brand oppressive males as rapists, more censoring of the internet, etc, etc.

4. Trump, whether we like it or not, is a fighter. He sometimes doesn't fight smart, but he fights.

5. And, Trump, at this moment in time, is the only thing standing between us and the Leftist hordes.

So, I'm sticking with Trump.

The whole show revolves around guys talking about sex. He's offended so many Baptists he's a multi-millionaire. Even if he curls his hair.

It's like "locker room" talk on steroids.

I don't agree that it is disqualifying, but there's my explanation.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

Costume changes equals exposure in certain professions. That's one point.

The other is that any sexually experienced male knows that women naked aren't a turn-on, so there's no sexual gratification involved. Women look better clothed. That's what the clothing is for.

So both of those change the odds favorably in Trump's favor, as against perving.

I am not sure why anyone would get upset at this. But, then again, I thought that the pussy stuff was ridiculous too. As others have pointed out, he was very likely not the only guy back stage then. I think that if I owned a pageant like he did, that I would pop back stage, just because I could do it, too. Not that I would expect anything to occur as a result, but just because there were a lot of beautiful women partially clothed or nude.

It is all managed hype, managed, or at least coordinated, essentially by the Crooked Hillary campaign. They aren't supposed to coordinate this sort of stuff with the media, and, indeed, should probably be treating it as in-kind political contributions by the media. But, they won't, because, while illegal, no one is going to call them on it. So far, we have had three debates, with at least four heavily biased moderators, who either got some of their questions from her campaign, or told them in advance what they were. And, then you have other media doing bogus "fact checks" of what Trump said, but never Crooked Hillary. Etc. The news keeps rolling out about Dem operatives registering dead people to vote, Dems transporting voters precinct to precinct to vote, debate moderators coordinating with her campaign to take out Sanders, her campaign (and her husband) communicating with AG Lynch right before Dir. Comey came out with his non-prosecution report, proof that her campaign illegally coordinated with Soros groups, that the Dems had a spreadsheet showing political contributions and TARP receipts, more medical questions, etc. All studiously ignored by the MSM, who are doing whatever they can to drag her flopping carcass across the finish line, and therefore concentrate on made up scandals with Trump.

Some of it I blame on Trump, when he deliberately courts unnecessary controversy right when Hillary has some damaging information coming out. But some (like the leaked Access Hollywood tape) is going to dribble out anyway, and the best thing he could do about it is try and make the story die as quickly as possible.

The Clintons, we all knew, play this way no matter who they're fighting. The reason for the disconnect is that most of the white men in the GOP base simply aren't bothered by misogyny, bigotry, or bullying. They ascribe it to how an "alpha male" (like Trump, they say) naturally operates.

Much about this election disgusts me, but the behavior of our media "watchdogs" perhaps tops the list. First they promote the hell out of Trump and do everything in their power to put him at the top of the Republican ticket. And all the while, they sit on explosive material that might well have blown him out of the primaries. Then they wait for the opportune moment, say when it appears he might actually pull it off, to release that material with the expectation that it will blow him out of the general. And all of this to prop up one of the most irredeemably corrupt individuals in the history of American politics. If it's sleaze you're after, Hillary, and her reprobate of a husband, will deliver it in spades.

By the way, Hillary's disappearing from the campaign trail again. Except for one fundraiser, she has no scheduled events after today through October 25th. We can only speculate about the reasons a presidential candidate would avoid public appearances so close to an election mostly because this is one subject the media studiously avoid. Althouse will never post a "how Trump lost me" post because Trump never had her. Althouse is a contrarian, who would rather kill herself* than be boring. With everyone in the media piling on Trump, it would've been more of the same if she had done so. As she herself said, she looked for other angles, and attracted readers by doing so.

But there was no way Althouse was ever going to vote for the short-fingererd vulgarian--she would be run out of town by the good-people of Madison WI if she did that. She would've gone for Johnston, if she couldn't find a way to justify a vote for Hillary-- such justification needed because it's clear that Althouse does not like the Clintons.

But Trump finally crossed the line. The latest revelations into Trump's attitude towards women-- which should really have come as no surprise to anyone, especially ones that grew up reading Playboy as a child-- triggered such a visceral reaction of disgust that she can now summon all the power of her feminist brain to rationalize voting for the alleged-rapist enabler over someone she has convinced herself is a sexual-assaulter.

Of course this is all speculation on my part.

That is incorrect. Some of the pundits, yes. But not the polls. Trump lead in the GOP primary polls and the voting confirmed that. However the pundits questioned it because his support was not among a majority of voters. It hovered around 35% to 40% of the GOP electorate. But he still lead and polls showed that. But this is the general election now and he has not lead in the polls. At a certain point Trump supporters should probably take the polls seriously. But they won't. Trump was never going to get any feminists to support him, so I don't think these revelations in themselves have a large impact on his viability. But even a small impact will hurt him in a race that's as close as this one appears to be. What does have an impact is that Trump has to fight the establishment GOP who are deserting him, the Dems, a media who has put a bounty on his head, and even the UN, who are calling for his destruction. Unfortunately for his supporters-- and those of us who want the Clintons to lose-- Trump is a buffoon who doesn't fight as well as they believed-- and we hoped-- he would.

I've never liked Trump. (What I find most disgusting is his talking about his daughter's body on the Howard Stern Show-- what kind of a man does that?) But I'll never vote for the Clintons. My state is blue so my vote doesn't count, therefore I'll probably write-in someone or vote for the stoners. But if I were in a swing state, I'd vote for Trump because I believe in the rule of law. Hillary Clinton would be in jail, if she were anyone else, over her mishandling of classified documents and destruction of emails. She will corrupt the office of the Presidency, she may get us into a shooting war, there is a high probability that she dies or becomes seriously incapacitated while in office-- and we the people will never be informed who is actually running the country-- and she'll be a divider of Americans; I could go on, but for the sake of brevity I'll leave it at that. But the Clintons are a force to be reckoned with, and unless the polls are tainted, I have resigned myself to the fact she'll likely win-- long live the queen.

So, back to transgendered men in womens restrooms and chaging rooms. Think of the reaction that these woemen have when they say they see Trump walk in. THeyre' naked!
But now think about the reaction the left has to parents who don
t want men in womens rooms. TRANSPHOBIC!
If its a legitimate concern, enough for where the media is going to leak it to damange Trump why would the left poo pooh it as a bigoted response.

The transgender bathroom laws would allow a man to enter a womans room, simply by saying that he identifies as a woman. No proof required. He doest have to BE transgendered, he just has to identify as transgendered. or, say he identifies as transngedered if anyone asked him. Which no one would, lest they seem Transphobic.

by the way, in the article it says: Eleven of that year’s contestants reached by BuzzFeed News did not recall seeing Trump in the dressing room. Some said they do not believe he could have been there.

So is this just a hit piece?
On Howard stern Trump joked about pageants not necessarily the teen pageant. (so, the author of this piece is suggesting that he went into pageants of teens, as oppsoed to dressing rooms of women.
and he will say it was a joke. And it seemed like the whole bit was tongue in cheek. Since all sides were asking outrageous questions and he was perhaps taking the bait and jokes about the things you could do to get the ladies in the pageant.

"Co-host Robin Quivers then asked Trump if sleeping with the contestants could be construed as a conflict of interest.
"It could be a conflict of interest," Trump said. "But, you know, it's the kind of thing you worry about later, you tend to think about the conflict a little bit later on."
Stern then put on a fake foreign accent, saying that "some of these foreign girls" say hello "with vagina."
"Well, what you could also say is that, as the owner of the pageant, it's your obligation to do that,"
"Well, I'll tell you the funniest is that before a show, I'll go backstage and everyone's getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I'm allowed to go in because I'm the owner of the pageant and therefore I'm inspecting it," Trump said. "You know, I'm inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good."
"You know, the dresses. 'Is everyone okay?' You know, they're standing there with no clothes. 'Is everybody okay?' And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that. But no, I've been very good,"

they are all joking about ways around the conflict of interst in getting the women on the show. BUt he says "well I'll tell you the funniest.." and then he outlines going back stage and saying "is everyone ok? Is everyond good?
He's playing out the funniest way... in his view to get around the confict of interest. AS A JOKE.
He previously said " what you could also say is that, as the owner of the pageant, it's your obligation to do that" In other words, you could use your position as the owenr to tell the ladeies that its their obligation to sleep with him as the owner.
I other words, these are things you could say (jokingly) as a means of getting around the conflict that you're not supposed to sleep with girls.

He endsd with.... "But I've been good" Meaning, HE DIDNT DO THOSE THINGS.

3) Romney's major damage actually happened during the primaries, when cannibalistic attacks from the smarmy likes of Gingrich and Santorum ended up driving the eventual nominee's negatives up to unprecedented levels for a major party nominee. The GOP tends to "eat their own" in these primaries, leaving their nominee broke and unpopular and in need of wasting precious time trying to bring their party together. Even the Democrats' 2008 primary didn't mortally wound their nominee. What is it about the Republicans?

Yes, what is it about the Republicans? Always eating their own.

in fact, upon rereading that Transcript its CLEAR he's telling a joke about what he'd do, not what he did.

"You know, I'm inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good."

If instead of saying I'll go, read I WILL go. THose are the excuses he would make as to why he's in the dressing room. And they are absurd excuses. As if the head of the pageant alone would go into the dressing room and say only he could inspect the dresses. Come ON. This is clearly comedy.

It's more than that. The "elites" go to Ivy league schools and boys marry girls and they have children and live lives that resemble the Bourgeois lives they disdain. The lower classes listen to their advice and fuck up their lives beyond salvage.

The dirty little secret, which some of us are starting to suspect, is that those elites are incompetent at running anything.

How about the disaster the "Quants" gave us in 2008 ?

Then the model fell apart. Cracks started appearing early on, when financial markets began behaving in ways that users of Li's formula hadn't expected. The cracks became full-fledged canyons in 2008—when ruptures in the financial system's foundation swallowed up trillions of dollars and put the survival of the global banking system in serious peril.
David X. Li, it's safe to say, won't be getting that Nobel anytime soon. One result of the collapse has been the end of financial economics as something to be celebrated rather than feared.
