I see that Crisis of Character, the book about the Clinton White House has made to number 1 on the Amazon list.
On the top of page 13, the author claims that a heat seeking missile will signal a radar lock in the Russian bomber. He then goes on to say that a missile is used as a warning shot across the nose of the bomber. Although, I really wanted to read this book, those misconceptions are big enough to bring the whole book into question. Trust me, I am NOT a Clinton fan.
The photo reminds me of the saying about how the lotus grows from the muck. Now I am hopeful again about the future of politics in the US. But I expect to be soon and rudely awakened from this brief fantasy...
Boston Globe reports that Trump pays women in the campaign less than the men. About $4,500 versus $6,100. Female workers made up only 28 percent of Trump's staff. That's a lot of men!
Clinton has 53 percent women making about $3,710, while the men made about $3,760.
So she is keeping her wages low across the board, while Trump is offering higher wages, but favors the men.
This may not bode well for women in his administration (OK, I'm extrapolating... can I be a journalist now?)
Since Trump has a history of hiring women to important positions and paying them well, I doubt there should be a problem. Maybe the proportional disparity is more about ability than demographic equality.
And I guess this is an apt time to ask a question I've been considering. As an amateur painter, I'm often inspired by your photos and wonder if you'd grant permission to use some of them as studies. It would be noncommercial-I have gifted a few paintings and have some folks who've requested stuff so there is some possibility of circulation but at this point I don't anticipate selling anything. I still feel it wouldn't be right to paint from your images without permission. Even with permission it feels a bit like cheating but I have more time to paint in a studio then plein air and could use some good photo references.
I just worked Brazil with my little coffee-cup displacing 5 watt transmitter (7025.2 kHz). The guy seems to have invested rather a lot in antennas, which is how it worked. I have a portable antenna in the backyard.
As long as one end has great gear, it's possible.
I'm still missing Asia and Antarctica, continentwise.
Rhhardin--your Brazil contact is a serious looking fellow. When the aliens come, he will be able to talk to them. Or with the antenna maybe he's one of them. I am sure that he comes in peace. But let's not piss him off just in case.

Amazon gives you a peek into the book.
Yeah, it sounds like a pretty confused account. Our fighters were said to have passed them "head on". Not likely that a pilot would fire a warning cannon shot or heat-seeking missile in such a case, and a heat-seeking missile would never "aim" at a cold nose.
For ever 50 years we've had ADIZ zones (Air Defense Identification Zones) off our shores, and for years the Russkies have entered them to test our response. It's not a biggie. During the cold war we routinely did the same to them.
The encounter with the "spy" photographer appears equally suspicious. What spy carries "multiple foreign passports" when he's actually at work? And exactly what crime is it to photograph hangars and the aircraft in them at a public event involving the Thunderbirds?
Millions of us have done that!
So as much as I despise the Clintons, I'm thinking this exposé will be a big disappointment.
So Bernie is crashing other people's events in LA.. hmmm. No money?
God knows that would be a crime, to not have truckloads of the filthy lucre being backed up to your loading docks every day by people who have it and want nothing in return for it!
It's kind of funny, but the colors are different on this monitor than my phone. I did suspect cheating with the image on my phone, but on this monitor it is more natural looking, and still very nice.
I know Dr. Althouse will see Scott Adams post, but it is a beautiful analysis, because it is based on 'truth', not political persuasion. Scott Adams "So I’ve decided to endorse Hillary Clinton for President, for my personal safety. Trump supporters don’t have any bad feelings about patriotic Americans such as myself, so I’ll be safe from that crowd. But Clinton supporters have convinced me – and here I am being 100% serious – that my safety is at risk if I am seen as supportive of Trump."

Nice!
I see a photograph of water lilies, or even the name "water lilies," and I think of Monet. Can't help it.

Heads up Florida Panhandle and southeast US! Pay attention to the weather.

Wingra?
Wow! Hillary won the Virgin Islands caucus! There's no stopping her now!
But Bernie says there will be a contested convention. [And it'll be a doozy!]
Mendota?
Perfect color harmonies.
Ann, that is your best one.

Stunningly beautiful photo. Thanks for posting.
Pac-man lily pads.
Perfect composition. Intriguing image that could be a photo or a graphic design at first glance.
Centennial Garden, on campus. Just a small artificial pond. Lots of koi.
Yes it is a gorgeous photo- well done!

Very pretty.

Go for it. I think your posts make it clear that you have all the qualifications.

@C Stanley
That's fine. I put a collective commons license on my photos.
Good luck with your painting.
Looks like a variety called "Texas Dawn," although . . . there are others that are similar, and the blooms vary a lot in different climates.
