Happy Boythday, Holy Muddah Choych!

Or, if you want an equivalent down-homey version of the same ecclesiastical sentiment, for all the Protestant brethren, here ya go!

I found out that Bezos is really out to get Trump. I was looking for a movie to watch on Prime and among the first twenty movies were two anti Trump "movies" One with a picture of Hillary, for God's sake. So now I have to find an alternative to Amazon Prime, which I really liked up until he shoved his politics in my face like that. I liked digital media because you could tune out politics, but it seems like it is not so. I ditched satellite radio because they couldn't keep their DJs from pushing their politics.

The other one was by the new Mayor of London who called moderate Muslims "Uncle Toms."

Trump derangement syndrome is a thing. Who knew?

William Finnegan, a longtime staff writer for the New Yorker magazine, has won the Pulitzer Prize for his memoir "A Barbarian Life". His memoir details his travels across the globe from the late sixties through the eighties as a wandering surfer. Of special interest are his years as a teacher in the townships of apartheid South Africa where he surfed the perfect waves of Jefferies Bay. He won an award (the name of which escapes me) for the resulting book of that ordeal. Like William I too find surfing "endlessly fascinating" and for those of us of a certain age his cultural passages through that time will ring true. I couldn't put the book down and look forward to meeting him this Tuesday night on his small coastal bookstore tour. He's one hell of a writer.

I found Dr. Paul McHugh's article on trangenderism today. Old news to some, but the first time I've read it. Pokes gaping holes in the left's latest gambit.

His meager qualifications? Former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

I found overdrive.com today. After a long time being frustrated by the limited selection on Kindle unlimited, the rising prices of kindle books, the price of Audible, I realized that Overdrive is just a way of connecting public library resources.

I've never been much of an audiobook user, really never used one, but it's become a more appealing option these days, so overdrive gets me kindle books and audio with no charge. 3 week borrowing, so I guess that adds a bit of an urgency, but it's not too bad.

"Former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital."

he is the one who decided to close their gender reassignment clinic as they had 20 times the suicide rate of the rest of the population.

"ants captured by ant lions are less likely to call for help ..."

I'd be curious about their research methodology. Did they survey the ants?

I found that the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays really don't like each other, and that Jose Bautista can take a punch.

I recall May 15 being the last freeze date for central Ohio, for plant growers. It's 33 this morning.

I found out that bill Clinton can't draw flies.

I remember the buzz on the street about Obama, you heard his name everywhere. In coffee shops, grocery stores. Well the only bumper stickers I see are for Trump or Bernie, the only talk I hear is about Trump or Bernie.

From the Bezos rag, of all places, the Hillary campaign newsletter:

“What I want to happen are things that will never happen,” said one longtime Clinton family supporter and donor who requested anonymity to express criticism of something he said Clinton probably could not change even if she wanted to. “I mean, we can’t give her an injection to make her an energetic candidate.”

Ummm, actually, you could. But I am reminded of an old Rich Little does Nixon bit, in Nixon's voice: "But that would be wrong."

I found out that the Cubs aren't the best team in baseball. Gerrit Cole of the Pittsburgh Pirates, who the Cubs have been beating like a rented mule, said so. Yes, the Gerrit Cole who the Cubs beat in the Wildcard playoff last year. The same Gerrit Cole who gave up six hits, including this Kyle Schwarber moonshot, and four runs in five innings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpaO2bxZ_k0

Thanks for that link, Humperdink. Article is here.

Shocking bit for me?

As part of our dedication to protecting America's youth, this administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.

I had to read that sentence twice. What she is talking about is outlawing speech. You will not be allowed to attempt to cure these people by talking to them. Instead the only allowed "cure" is to surgically mutilate their bodies.

In two states, a doctor who would look into the psychological history of a transgendered boy or girl in search of a resolvable conflict could lose his or her license to practice medicine. By contrast, such a physician would not be penalized if he or she started such a patient on hormones that would block puberty and might stunt growth.

Three weeks? Sounds like heaven. My library only gives me 2 weeks.

Laslo Spatula म्हणाले...

Skimming through the blog to see if I missed anything, I found that Althouse has been on fire this past week.

Lots of material, lots of interesting takes on the material.

I am Laslo.

I found corn speedwell in the lawn. So I removed it.

Laslo Spatula म्हणाले...

Corn Speedwell?! He owes me money!

I am Laslo.

Meade म्हणाले...

Can you ID him? Prostrate? Prickles? Produces a milky sap? Tendrils or no tendrils?

Laslo Spatula म्हणाले...

Meade said...
"Produces a milky sap?"

Ummmmm....

I am Laslo.

Jaq म्हणाले...

I think the milky sap was involved in the debt. You had to use a hoe to remove him, didn't you?

Meade म्हणाले...

You might have him confused with Smooth Hawksbeard.

Meade म्हणाले...

No hoe. Just a Japanese hori hori.

Curious George म्हणाले...

"Meade said...

Ah, so that's what that is. Green is grass. SO I left it. And listened to the Cubs game and had a beer.

Yesterday was our open house. I hope we found a buyer.

I found out that Obama doesn't know anything about the history of slavery:

Pres. Obama said that Nordic countries would make the world “more secure and more prosperous” if "we" would just let them run things. Welcoming the leaders of Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland to the White House on Friday, Obama said that, if “we” let Nordic countries control the world, that “they could clean things up”

When they were in control, they basically spent their time raiding Europe and Britain for slaves to sell to the Muslims.

Findings are the pieces that connect jewelry together. Clasps, jump rings, bails (the metal part at the top of a pendant that lets you hang it from something), ear wires, and so on. The stagehands of jewelry.
