When I read the first paragraph of this post, I assumed it was a quote from the happily enlightened person.
This blog has been good for a long time, Ann.

That was the Sixties singing but it turned out that people wanted more, including Bobby McGee. Even if it's just a family and home, then the home has to be paid for, the family has to eat; so then a job; then getting ahead in the job to pay for a car or even just to avoid having a jerk give the orders and ... there you are racing up the spiral.
And when that ends and you get old and have free time, then it turns out that you are no use and people keep talking about balancing the budget by killing you.
However, that is all the newspapers and the media. You can have a good time if you hold on to yourself. All that really matters is to know what YOU really want and be doing it as well as possible
FIRST come the superficial duties of food, shelter and clothing for ourselves...and the children until they reach age 26 or so, and the dog, and the spouse's desires/commands and...
And finally, we seek the transcendental spiritual life behind it all and re-work the puzzling parts.

I see the first comment on that old post is from a guy who abandoned this blog. Rather than contribute to a free-wheeling community with interesting opinions, he opted for a peaceful life of obscurity. Hope he's enjoying his free time.
