"Pickles blocks demolition of homes surrounding former Beatle's birthplace."

Shouldn't that be "Pickles block..."?

I thought either:

1. Wild-grown pickles needing preservation are in the way.

2. Pickles was some sort of animal, like a cute little dog.

Pickles was the name of Buddy Sorrell's wife on the Dick Van Dyke Show.

Pickles was married to Buddy Sorrell (Morey Amsterdam). She was a former showgirl whose real name was Fiona. Though mentioned often, Pickles only appeared in a few episodes. She was played by Barbara Perry in two episodes (1961-62) and by Joan Shawlee, pictured left, in three (1963).

PB म्हणाले...

Only if there were two Pickles could they block, but one Pickles blocks.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Pickles don't block. Pickles get blocked. I got pickle blocked just last night.

True, and I named one of my dogs Pickles after Mrs. Sorrels.

In my case Pickles is singular.

Not if it's Thelma Pickles.

(I fully expect Beatles' trivia points for that.)
