... here.
Who needs TV? TV is just for company. But you can find company here, where we can talk to each other.
UPDATE 1: McConnell has already won, according to CNN, where everyone is talking freakily fast.
UPDATE 2: It's all about Ed.
UPDATE 3: Looks like I've lost my pick-an-upset bet, and Meade is going to win. (I bet Scott Brown, and Meade picked Thom Tillis.) As for Scott Walker, the prime concern here in Wisconsin, it looks like he's well ahead, but how much of the Madison and Milwaukee votes are in?
UPDATE 4: Ed is slipping.
UPDATE 5: One more GOP pickup needed now to take the Senate, Cory Gardner having won Colorado.
UPDATE 6: The race is called in Wisconsin. "It's over. We will stand with Governor Walker," says Meade.
UPDATE 7: We got in the car and drove up to the Capitol to check out whether there were any protests or celebrations. All was calm. We drove around the square, and I had to restrain Meade, who wanted to do the "This is what democracy looks like" horn beeping.
UPDATE 8: The view of the Capitol just now. [PHOTO MOVED TO THE NEW POST, ABOVE.]
UPDATE 9: The GOP gubernatorial candidate won in Illinois. And it looks like Tillis did win in North Carolina.
UPDATE 10: Joni!
UPDATE 11: Scott Brown finally concedes at midnight. So I lost the pick-an-upset bet, and Meade won. Still not clear if Meade wins the bet on Scott Walker, who must win with at least 53%.
UPDATE 12: Let's call it a wave.

I'll be distracted, there's a blackhawks game. 720 WGN.
Except if you don't like what you're seeing and go dark a la 2012.
I'm watching MSNBC...Chris Matthews is hilarious tonight.

How so?
I could not take MSNBC for long. I will go back to watch when their depression settles in.

Conan the Republican: What is good? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of Harry (Pat Geary) Reid.

YouTube really isn't worth it's salt if it doesn't have a loop of Godfather 2 Pat Geary clips with Harry Reid's face superimposed.

Romney is on Fox, looking more handsome and relaxed than ever.
Also quite Presidential.
Pretty good stuff for a Mormon.
>>How so?<<
They don't seem confident in Dem wins so there's more of a recognition of the reality in his comments. Ed Schultz is already fretting about the Florida governor's race.
I also checked in on CNN and Wolf Blitzer is trying his hardest to add suspense to the results.
There was a line of people waiting to register today at my polling place. Never seen that before. Also the person who has the same name I do and who never votes and whose ballot I am always being offered has voted this time.
Predicting 2016 when 2014 isn’t over is risky. But it looks like President Obama has left his party in worse shape than any president since Woodrow Wilson nearly a century ago.
It took only 6 years. He should never have been re-elected in 2012.
RCP not calling VA yet?
Can I say, "Stick a fork in her, she's done."?

There was a young couple in front of me when I voted. Said they were registered in another town, and had just moved to my town. We have same day registration, so they held up the line. When they were done, they drove out of town in the direction of the town they said were previously registered in. hmm. I'm sure it was nothing but my antennae twitched a bit.
Looks like West Virginia has already been called for the Republicans as a Pick Up.
Not sure how they can call that so soon.
2000 ruined me forever. I can't watch election results now without great anxiety. They tried to redo it in 2004, but the margin of victory for Bush was just to great. They'll now attempt it for every single republican victory and if they can't get the desired results in a recount, they'll check the trunk of a democrats car for extra ballots.
Kelly,
If they can't get the desired result in a recount, they'll recount again. Just like they did here in Washington State.
On being twitchy about the voting:
The person with my name who never votes but who voted this time appeared to have spelled her name wrong. I made a mighty effort and said nothing
The war on women proceeds apace as West Virginia elects a female Republican senator.
Here in South Carolina, the bigoted white Republican majority has reelected a female governor from an ethnic minority (Indian-American.) Also elected was the first black senator from a former Confederate state since Reconstruction. He is a Republican, Tim Scott.
Scott was an incumbent, having been appointed to fill Jim DeMint's unexpired term. Scott had previously been elected to the House of Representatives in a white majority district.
To get the Republican nomination for his house seat, Scott had to win a two stage primary. He defeated both Carol Campbell III (son of a former Republican governor) and Paul Thurmond (son of Strom Thurmond.)
The lefty narrative is looking a little shaky in South Carolina.
I can't believe Wisconsin hasn't reported anything yet.
I'm anxious for Scott Walker.
Ed?
The polls are still open in Wisconsin
So are the car trunks no doubt.
There are said to be hundreds of vans cruising the streets in Milwaukee County picking people up and taking them to the polls. They say that the van people will soon start knocking on doors and telling people who haven't voted that they haven't voted and to get in the van and be driven to the polling place.
Still another hour before polls close in Wisconsin.
Dems are beginning to sweat over the preliminary results from VA and GA. Although the WI governor's race isn't getting much national media attention I'm hopefully that the rising Republican tide lifts Walker.
I'm just waiting to see how thoroughly Abbott creams Davis.
And, keeping an eye on Wisconsin, too, ya cheeseheads.
I voted R on the statewide candidates and liberal on the ballot measures. But these are Massachusetts Rs; they would be Ds in most states.
Every single one of the local candidates is a D running unopposed. But the fact is, my locality is very well run, so I'm not complaining.
Based on my wife's voter number at about 5:00, our heavily Democrat ward has an increase in voters by at least 50% over 2012 and 2010.
More importantly, the blackhawks just scored on Montreal.

Tillis is going to lose in NC. NH also looking like an easy win for Shaheen. Gillespie closer than expected in VA but not quite enough. Calling it here first -- Dem hold.
The registrar of voters in Hartford has one job! One job to print the voter roll and drop it off the night before. All night no one complained that the roll was missing until suddenly it was a problem at 6:00 am. The freaking governors polling station. It's damn fishy:

hey, it's our old friend unknown.
Yeah, Warner already called in VA even though RCP doesn't have it yet. I suppose my source could be wrong.
Your other predictions...we'll see won't we?
Gillespie was supposed to lose by a landslide. Yet, he's making a run of it (For the record, I don't think he'll pull it off).
On the other hand, Scott Brown was supposed to be in a close race, but it's not looking so close.
I am going to work "stick a fork in my vagina" into some kinda campaign slogan and/or party celebration. Without declaring a war on women. Might have to diagram the sentence first. Do the kids still diagram sentences?
Might go with spoon. Maybe I ought to poll test this. If white women break for the GOP I think I will go with lovin' spoonful of vagina. That way we're all happy. But if it's Night of the Angry White Man then it's a fork, damn it.

Tom Cotton elected to Senate in Arkansas. The governor also will be Republican. As usual, the Clintons got out just in time.
Thank you, Freeman. Glad you are happy with the result.
Tom Cotton should be a rising star in the Republican party. I hope he is joined by Joni Earnst.
The Godfather is on HBO but not Godfather 2. WTF. Looks like I'll be watching NEW Ninja Blender! followed by Bathroom Remodel Secrets on YOUTV.
Virginia results are highly dependent where the current results are from, which they are not telling us. I'm skeptical. Democrats are killer strong in the suburbs of Washington, where their livelihood comes directly and lavishly from the government.

The RCP link has gone on the fritz.
Any other good result sites?
I remember watching the VA returns for Senate back when Warner beat George Allen. Allen was winning all night until the returns dribbled in from Hampton area. I fear that is what will happen to Gillespie.

VA7 was only marginally for Gillespie. He needed to win big there.

Freeman: Will Tom Cotton save us from ISIS/ Mexican gangs wreaking havoc in our communities?
My guess is he will try, Garage, which is a good start. But freeman would know.
Wendy Davis has left the building.
Garage, why? Are they bothering you? You should write to him and ask.
Tom Cotton will be excellent. So will Asa Hutchinson; I am particularly excited about his election after supporting him in an unsuccessful gubernatorial run several years ago.
Come on Texas precincts; 1% reporting an hour after the polls close when we have electronic voting?

Minnesota reelects Dayton and Franken. Talk about Clown Cars.
Fox has finally fessed up that NE Virginia around DC has not come in yet. Not crowing upset so much.
"The economy" is not a problem if you live in the DC suburbs. Their economy is completely based on imports. They import cash from the rest of the country.
Just hoping that the races are outside the margin of fraud.
Geeze, it wasn't until I developed this burning curiosity over Walker's fate in WI that I realized how deeply I want some different faces with different approaches in the next presidential election.
It's a measure of how disgusted I am with the political dynasty. I don't want a Clinton and I don't want a Bush.
Not that WI should be voting for anything but its own best choice for its own governor. But still I hope.
RCP is finally loading for me.
Sadly, it's about an hour behind.
Garage, why? Are they bothering you?
Apparently they are bothering the electorate in AK. I just thought that was.....odd?
What, it's odd that the hicks in Arkansas (not AK, you supergenius, they didn't get to vote for Cotton) would care about word affairs?

I never understood that candidacy. There seemed to be a missing step between "become famous for supporting late-term abortion" and "get elected governor of Texas".
Apparently they are bothering the electorate in AK.
Alaskans should worry about their own elections.
Walker 1374
Burke 775
I hope Kay Hagen loses-no more democrat senators in the South-the pubes will be totally southern.

Tillis Hagan

Re Wendy Davis--yeah, it's pretty freakin' hilarious that they ran someone who made her name on late-term abortion in a state where tons of the Democrats are Hispanic Catholics.
Ah - if you mouse over and click, the %age of vote shows up.
Is that blue spot in the wisconsin map, Madison?
The Davis candidacy was driven by NE progressives with money and MSNBC. disconnected with the reality on the ground, and Davis believed them.
"it's pretty freakin' hilarious that they ran someone who made her name on late-term abortion"
And had that as her only qualification. Other than being a dick toward a guy in a wheelchair.
Virginia just narrowed to Gillespie up about 23,000. The Fox newsers are starting to say how great it would be if he just held it close.
http://americandigest.org/mt-archives/grace_notes/something_wonderful_it_ma.php
I will be sad if the Republicans do not get control of the Senate, but I will get over it.
To me this election is not about Obama but Harry Reid. History will not be kind to Harry Reid.
Shaheen beats Brown.
Even Yankees dislike carpetbaggers.
Looks like Gillespie, Brown and Tillis will all lose, as expected.
However, it looks like Scott may pull it out in Florida, which would be interesting.
Looks like Abbott is going to waltz into office (sorry, couldn't resist.)
I see Milwaukee is holding back on reporting its vote totals
ERic- did they call NC yet? was hoping hagan would lose after that shameful ad
However, it looks like Scott may pull it out in Florida, which would be interesting.
He and Crist are like crappy candidates 1 and 1b.
we got 3 so far
Dane County - vote early and often for Burke!
Walker can't win against the fraud machine.
NC is too close to call, Rec Chief.
It's not a big Republican wave. Generally the Dems are holding the seats they were expected to hold. As much as anything, this is an election where there a lot of seats at stake where Republicans have a natural advantage. Where they lack that advantage, they are not winning. But they are doing well were they do have the advantage.
Republicans may still take the Senate, but the election two years from now will be a lot tougher.
Let's hear it for Menomonie County -- first in WI to report 100% of its votes. (Of course, that's just 800 or so voters).
Shaheen beats Brown. Even Yankees dislike carpetbaggers.
It presumably depends on the carpetbagger. Hillary Clinton was elected Senator from New York without ever having lived there.
Right now it's looking good for Tillis, with 72.3% reporting, he leads by 1.5% and the Western, Conservative counties are yet to report.

That would be a nice win, no matter what happens overall.
Polls close here in 7 minutes
Magic number now down to 2; Udall loses in Colorado.
put a fork in the uterus
or a spoon
Walker is getting a 40/60 split I'm Dane County so far....not too bad considering it was 30/70 in the 2012 recount
Look quick. At this moment Walker leads in Milwaukee. That won't last
The War on Women flounders as Senator Uterus is projected to lose.
I think the War on Women gotten ridiculous. Literally.
Also because the Republican was smart enough not (repeat not) to make abortion an issue.
I understand the moral objection. Indeed I share it, though not with a religious point of view. But the issue is settled. Not by the Supreme Court but by majority opinion.
Udall loses in Colorado
Good. Another Royalty Family gone.
Buh-bye Mark Uterus.
How'd that gun control vote work out?
Walker destroying at the start here.
Suzanne Martinez wins governor of New Mexico.
Democrats' worst nightmare: Bush-Martinez Republican ticket in 2016.
Then they might regret those 20,000,000 African American abortions.
we got 5, montana
I think California tried pretty hard not to have much of an election. The focus was on funding Democrats in other states.
Is it too soon to go over to the Isthmus forums and poke them with a sharp stick?
I hope Waukesha County is the last to report.
Then they might regret those 20,000,000 African American abortions.
They'll also regret alienting men.
blackhawks just beat Montreal 5-0.
Cause I know you all care.
Larry Sabato did predict a +8 gain for the Republicans. Looks like he was right: http://www.centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/
So what's a good web site for the Wisconsin results?
Democrats' worst nightmare: Bush-Martinez Republican ticket in 2016.
I think a Bush candidacy is something Democratic campaign managers have wet dreams about.
I know die-hard Republicans who flat-out reject the idea of electing a third Bush to the White House. Even if you can get past all the political reasons to dislike the idea, there's still someone distinctly off-putting about having every Republican President since Reagan come from the same damned family.
So what's a good web site for the Wisconsin results?
Link.
I don't know if it's faster than any others. At the moment, Walker is 60-40 with 14% in.
local TV station just called Ernst the winner in iowa
Ace just called the race for Walker!
Virginia, WTH? That's going to be a lot closer than the polls said, whatever happens.
Polling wtf?
Wisconsin returns: http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/wisconsin-2014-fall-election-results-map-281509401.html
just look at that Channel 3000 map. All those other cities across Wisconsin reporting totals. And Milwaukee still squatting on its totals - waiting to see how many votes Mary Burke needs?
Oh, Oh, how cynical.
Just remember, Obama wasn't on the ballot, but his policies were. Every single one of 'em
DAVID
Try WTMJ or JSONLINE
AOSHQDD called KS for Roberts
Unless there's a scandal between now and December, Louisiana looks like a slamdunk for the GOP too. The two top GOP candidates polled well over 50% to Landrieu's 42%.
Looks like Rick Scott will be called in Florida (very close) but the Medical Marijuana thing failed here, which I did support. The (R) will have a supermajority in the state house, too. I wonder what they will do with it.
OK. For 5 minutes I left the RCP website to see "live" TV. Even cable.
What disgusting blah blah on NBC and even Fox.
Now back to RCP.
Thank you Professor.
Also happy to see Scott comfortably ahead up to now.
Fox called Walker..
Fox News calls for Walker
Fox projects Walker winner.
Fox calls for Walker.
Garage hardest hit.
It will be ok Garage. Really it will.
Looks like Republicans 54 seats, Dems 44, and 2 alleged Independents. Make that 55 if Ed Gillespie holds on, but the bluest areas of Northern Virginia have yet to report.
Wendy Davis is losing by 5 points to Abbott among women.
Just to give you an idea - in the last election 2012 almost exactly 50% of the people living in Milwaukee city voted - 288,000 out of 588,000. Only a fraction of that number of votes - about 14,000 - have been reported so far in 2014. And since the city is showing Walker ahead - it is the Walker votes that are being reported.
Too early to think about another Walker recall?
Is any jackass besides me having a happy November 4th?
Suck it, Bitchtits.
chickelit wins the thread.
And I had a great comment lined up too!
Just a reminder, in 2004 there were more votes in Milwaukee than registered voters. (A better-than-100% turnout wasn't something even the Soviets aspired to.)
It's going to be interesting what comes out of the Brewery.
My Roberts pick is looking good!
Congrats on the WI governor and (possibly) the next President of the United States!
Walker!
If you live in Madison and need duct tape or garden hose, better shop early.
they called it for Walker
AOSHQDD calling Georgia for Perdue, no runoff
Iowa called for Ernst and Warner pulls ahead of Gillespie in Virginia with 99% reporting.

WGN just reported that Obama wants to sit down with Congressional Leaders (presumably he means Republicans too) and "find a way forward"
He should've tried that 6 yrs ago
Joni Ernst is my new favorite politician.
Looking forward to a Senate that actually holds a vote.
Eat shit, Harry Reid.
New Hampshire the raw vote favors Shaheen by less than 500. Is it really over?
Yes, expect endless talk about compromise, meeting in the middle, and governing together.
Two years too late, but still.
Thanks, Barry.
The idea one could "watch" whilst doing other is totally Althouse.
I don't get how Iowa has been called for Ernst already. Exit polls + absentee ballots?
----Looking forward to a Senate that actually holds a vote.
And pass a budget.
Eat shit, Harry Reid.
@RecChief: WGN just reported that Obama wants to sit down with Congressional Leaders (presumably he means Republicans too) and "find a way forward"
Mitch McConnell: "We Won"
The GOP should tell Obama that they'll get back to him.
Roberts and Tillis both projected winners now.
NBC just called it for Walker.
Look what happens when Republican primary voters don't chose wackos?
Winning is better, huh?
NBC affiliate called it for Joni.
wow that's 8, plus Louisiana.
interesting, the IA congressional delegation to the House will now be 50% GOP at least + 2 GOP senators and a GOP governor
Crist lost

As satisfying as that would be, I don' t think that would work well for actual governance.
Yeah, that whole "we won" thing is gonna bite Barry hard in the butt.
Looking forward to the MSM spinning like a top.
"This wasn't a referendum on the President. Unless it was, in which case it was Racist."
Glorious.
Kansas, Georgia, and NC looking good..
I'm just waiting to see the IA1 results, that was Braley's district.
My facebook feed is curiously quiet.
In Georgia both Democratic generational retreads (Nunn and Carter) have lost. So much for fresh new talent.
I await the recounts!
Obama's way forward
I don't need no stinking Congress
Mitt said the right thing -- this is the last chance for the people to show they don't approve of Obama. The American Parliamentary system, down to the last man or woman.
Early going:
33% Reporting
R S. Walker (i) 58.2% 460,900
D M. Burke 40.7% 322,328
but promising.
yay!, Kansas goes R!
Funny how all the resident Leftist Loons (TM) have disappeared.
Scott Brown not conceding (according to MSNBC).
Millions of union dollars pissed away again.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha!
It's too bad Deal is not losing. That is one corrupt Governor.
The WTMJ people have a serious case of the sads.
Its so strange, TMJ radio is conservative, but the Journal Sentinel and WTMJ are very liberal even though they are all owned by the same company.
Scott Brown's not done yet.
Curious, it took 6 years for the country to see what we saw in 2008.
If Obama ran for a third term, what percent of votes will he get?
57,00+ libertarian votes in VA keeps Warner (97% for Obama) in office.
Ugly.
Margin of difference between Reps and Dems <4,000 maybe less.
As satisfying as that would be, I don' t think that would work well for actual governance.
Is that what you call what's been happening for the last six years?
p.s. What do Libertarians stand for? Do they accept cash from Soros, et al.?
