At the Sugar Maple Café...
... you can talk about whatever you want.
That's how my favorite tree on my lake-shore walk looked yesterday.
And, by the way, if you're enjoying this blog, please consider doing your on-line shopping beginning at The Althouse Amazon Portal.

I know that tree.
Oklahome court just ruled that Federal Obamacare subsidies to enrollees in states that have no state exchanges is unlawful.
I hope I worded that well enough...
Sugar maples are the rock stars of autumn foliage. The red and gold is translucent in a bright sunshine.
Yesterday: Awesome weather.
Today: Weather sucks.
There's a sugar maple in my neighborhood that rocks in the foliage color department too. Such a joy to see it. But I'm glad I don't have to rake its leaves.

I'm digging 4ft deep footings. I like today better.

Here in Milwaukee yesterday sucked too when the cold front went through in the afternoon...83F to 53F in a matter of minutes.

I have two that shade my deck perfectly in the summer and are gorgeous right now. Primary leaf cleanup will be with a broom.
Sadly the peak Maples start losing leaves from the top down, so enjoy it while you can.
Kruggers only dislikes rich people who don't place "money calls" to him.
Honeycrisp apple time!

There have been three articles in the UK daily mail about a real estate agent who was murdered here in arkansas this weekend.
And people have been facebook/instagram stalking the guy who did it.
We live in a weird, weird world now.
You'd think that someone Smart at the State Department would know when not to have a state dinner for a guy who is fasting
Honeycrisp apple time!
And king salmon stacked up in McKinley marina. Slow last weekend but this cold snap should bring them in.
A friend just posted: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified the media at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday that Dallas has the first diagnosed Ebola case in the nation.
Yup.
Ebola.
A mile & a half from my house.
Those trees remind me of one of the things I haven't missed since I left the Midwest almost 30 years ago: raking autumn leaves.
If you can believe this, back then we could just burn 'em. Stick 'em in a steel barrel or even rake 'em into the street curb and burn 'em there.
I love typing "'em" when referring to leaves.
That pleasant smell of burning leaves is one I'd venture most Americans have never experienced.
Ebola in Dallas.
I remember those leaf-burning years. I remember one still fall evening when the whole town was full of thick leaf smoke. A little breeze helps.
But too much wind is also a problem. Some of my cousins set their family home on fire accidentally when the wind carried burning leaves off the pile to the house. The fire was quickly out of control.
They never received reparations. (Doesn't every cafe post need a reference to reparations?)

Remember how Paul Krugman was mad at the rich for vulgarly flaunting their wealth? Never mind: turns out that what the rich are doing is hiding their wealth, and-- what do you know!-- that's bad too.
You see, it's vulgar the way the rich flaunt their wealth, so it's necessary to redistribute their wealth to the less fortunate since they will use it for consumption, combating the wealthy's tightwad tendencies.
Makes perfect sense in Krugman's mind I'm sure.
That's a beautiful tree! I'm the only person I know who wants to retire from California to a cold-weather state. Deep red Idaho is my first choice at the moment.
This Ebola has the whiff of a false flag operation. Put the fear on simmer and then spring the trap, shelter in place, martial law, etc.
Plastic bag ban in effect. Am I supposed to carry re-usable canvas bags for my dog's business?
Just want to point out that the NHL season starts in a little over a week.
Go Hawks
I talked to someone with an idea I liked:
A show called AlGoreRhythm featuring Al Gore poppin' and lockin' to the week's hottest beats.
These two things I know are true:
- It's turtles all the way down.
- All the assholes are on the other side.
Second Ebola case in Dallas reported today.
I was walking down by my creek yesterday and found Ray Walston sitting there painting watercolors. Bad sign?
