You don't erase hard drives, you destroy them. I've got a hydraulic press in my office, which when we have old drives to put out of commission, I stand up, put on the ol' eye protection, center the punch over the platter's hub, and start pumping the press until the platter is a cup - or shatters, which happens with the cheaper hard drives.

And yes, there's a little effort involved. Not a lot, but enough to work out some stress.; 7/22/14, 10:51 AM
