AND: "How much suffering can human beings tolerate? Unless he starts taking care of his people, the young generalissimo may be the first Kim to find out." And here's "Madeleine Albright" on Putin: "History is filled with aggressors who triumphed for a moment. Then failed." And: "Gray Davis" on Jerry Brown: "No longer the new kid, he’s now the adult in the room — the wise steward of our state’s resources." And: "If Kirsten Gillibrand wants to be a rock star, she’ll be a rock star. But she’d make a great President."

Actually, it sound like how Christie talks. Christie has the disadvantage of living with the NJ legislature, which is not going to let him do any of the things Walker did to become influential. In fact, after two terms "Christie's" record is going to look like crap; to a large extent, that will be caused by the NJ legislature. There's nothing he can do about it.

Time serves a porpoise. It gives some people more information than they already had. Just because I might think it's poorly researched and poorly written doesn't mean someone out there might not get something useful out of it.
This criticism reminds me of the way media critics tend to go after Jon Stewart, implying that he has a duty to inform viewers better because lots of them apparently get their news from him. He keeps saying roughly, "I'm a comedian on a comedy network! I do parody!"
Time is kinda like that. It's not a news magazine; it's more like a fast-food salad buffet of real news. (Well, I'm not a great writer, either.) I like to think that they know their feature stories, and especially their "100 most influential" and "Person of the year" things are just fluff. People enjoy them. Magazines sell.
Time has amazing photography, but their journalism, ugh. It's like a dumb, juvenile version of the NYT. Brought to you by the people who publish People. And it would not shock me at all if they shared the same editorial staff.
One example should suffice. Here is Althouse on the forced abortions in China. A pregnant woman is kidnapped off the street and sexually assaulted, her baby murdered.
Think about this violence. Keep this reality in your mind, and then read what Time Magazine has to say.

And Time runs photographs of atrocities all the time. But not abortion, they cannot show an abortion, ever.

I believe that the Government insists that all its publications for the general public must have a Flesch-Kincaid Readability Grade Level no higher than 9 (i.e., ninth-grade level).
Many insurance companies have the same requirement: Documents for the general public must not require more than a ninth-grade education to understand them.
I'm surprised they gave the job of writing Kim's article to someone who doesn't like him instead of, say, the People's Commissar for Social Joy Enforcement. I say this because most of the other articles read like they were written about Kim by the People's Commissar for Social Joy Enforcement.

Time used to be worth reading. I'm older than most of you so I remember. Every doctor learned to read the Medicine section as soon as the magazine came out each eek so we knew what our patients were talking about. It was the Google of the 1960s.

Yes, they had a lot of good writers at TIME in the old days. Now the thing is dying before our eyes. It's like the punishment they used to give robbers - starving to death in an iron cage high up in the public square. TIME slowly runs down, entropizing before our eyes.
