Viral videos I have not seen, that everybody saw.

Meade is free-associating with elements that I am not getting at all. He can't believe I never saw this. Everyone saw it. It was viral!

What's happening to this world in which there will be allusions — not to the great books and important historical events — but to old viral videos?

Ancient Chinese Secret.

You're Soaking in It.

Where's the Beef?

Viral Videos are Commercials for the Creator's Purposes (Creativity, Clicks, etc). New Stream Feeding the Catch-Phrase / Have-You-Seen? River.

How about a SmartPhone App That Alerts You Whenever a YouTube Video Has Hit a Million Views? That Should Keep People in the Loop if they So Desire.

That was 95 seconds of stupid.

Too Bad the Clarence Thomas Video in the Previous Post Will Never Achieve Viral Status.

To Achieve Viral Velocity You Need Some of the Following + Luck:

• Ohhh-So Cute Cute Cuddly Cuddly;

• Authentically Funny, As-Is (a Rarity);

• Authentically Funny By Addition of Commentary, Editing, Auto-Tune etc to an Existing Piece of Video (includes Parody);

• Self-Congratulatory Funny (Aren't We All Cool By Laughing at This). Generally with a Liberal Political Bent (See the Bush Caricature and Jewish Stars in the linked video);

• Authentically Emotionally Moving, As-Is (Rarer Yet);

• Emotionally Self-Congratulatory (look how deep and caring we are);

• Train-Wrecks (Mechanical and Emotional Flame-Outs).

Off the Top of My Head.

I never saw that one either. Oh well.

Am I therefore immune to the virus?

So confused.

Count me as having never seen it.

Until now.

I'd like that minute of my life back, Professor.

All your base.

Sigivald म्हणाले...

I never saw it.

I avoid everything "viral" whenever possible.

Finding out that a friend hasn't seen something fun that "everyone" has seen is one of life's great pleasures. No need to be condescending, just something new enjoy together.
As in:

That came out a bit sappier than I meant but it's still true.

Me, neither, and I gave up in 20 seconds.

I never saw it. And I met someone the other day who was just horrified at the idea of catapulting cats. Another one didn't think the Brazilian elevators were funny. The whole liberal side of my family has never seen a Hitler-gets-the-news video.

Only people my age seem to know who said:"Why don't you speak for yourself, John?"

A lot has been lost and the replacements don't fit together into anything who hold in common. But still the tradition is there for anyone who prefers to spend their time that way. It's there because it's all on the internet (the Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Dante, Shakespeare, Milton) along with pornography, catapult videos, old records, slow TV and everything else. Make your choice, take your pick.

I couldn't have phrased it any better myself. There's 2 minutes of my life that I will never get back.

I'd never seen it before either, but what is seen cannot be unseen.

Trashhauler म्हणाले...

Never saw it before. But then, in 2003 I recall being busy with some war, so maybe that's why I missed it.

Was this big on campus, or something?

This is when TV shows will be regarded as art compared to viral videos.
