Last night, in Milwaukee...

... I chose to wear a baseball cap for the first time in my life.

You're a good sport and a lot of fun. Thanks for going with me.

Lem Vibe Banditory বলেছেন...

That is my idea of fun.

Lava বলেছেন...

Great to see! And as a former MSN resident and life-long Reds fan...wonderful.

doesn't look like you at all

Bob Ellison বলেছেন...

Put your hair in a pony tail and point it out the back of the cap.

chickelit বলেছেন...

Did you also scarf down a hotdog and quaff a beer?

If so, you're becoming unexceptionally American.

John বলেছেন...

Cute

"doesn't look like you at all"

It was cropped weirdly. I re-cropped it to make it maybe more normal looking. What do you think now?

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

"Put your hair in a pony tail and point it out the back of the cap."

I didn't buy the type of adjustable hat with a hole.

Also my hair is cut short in back and can't be put in a ponytail.

"You're a good sport and a lot of fun. Thanks for going with me."

Thanks for taking me!

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

"Did you also scarf down a hotdog and quaff a beer?"

We didn't buy a single thing to eat or drink!

Strelnikov বলেছেন...

Which one are you?

Carol বলেছেন...

What do you think now?

Seriously, I didn't think you were in the photo at all.

I hate ponytail-through-the-hathole as much as Ann hates men in shorts. Kudos for wearing a real ball cap.

No better way to spend time than at a baseball game!

[Stadium Announcer Voice] "Batting Third, the Designated Lawprof, Bats Right, Thinks Left, Althouse....Ann Althouse"

Spits, rubs pine tar on bat, adjusts cup(!?!), hikes stirrups on socks....clears out space in batters box with spikes...

Craig Landon বলেছেন...

As baseball hat wearing pics go, that's certainly not the Full Monty.

Stilton Cheeseright বলেছেন...

I can pull for the Brewers as long as they're out of contention and playing the stinking Reds. In other words: Go Cards.

Deirdre Mundy বলেছেন...

Hmmm.. a mixed marriage. But what will you raise the puppies? Reds or Brewers?

(Hint-- the Reds are usually the better team...)

Gahrie বলেছেন...

Take a walk on the wild side Althouse!

Bob Ellison বলেছেন...

Carol, ponytail-through-the-hathole is the single cutest image in Western femaledom.

madAsHell বলেছেন...

I always wondered what happened to the Seattle Pilots.

southcentralpa বলেছেন...

From a fan of the team 4.5 back of the Reds, PLEASE never take it off ...

Mark O বলেছেন...

So, after all, you're a really good time?

I have a convertible and a rule that a man should not date a women who won't ride with the top down.

Whadda say?

heyboom বলেছেন...

@Bob Ellison

I second that emotion.

Wince বলেছেন...

How can a town watch a baseball in a stadium that cavernous?

And only add 4,400 seats more than Fenway in the process.

Miller Park: Capacity 41,900

Fenway: 37,499 (night), 37,071 (day) (2013)

Okay, maybe you don't have as many poles obstructing the view.

Tom বলেছেন...

I talked my very patient wife (who is not a sports fan) into going to a Reds game a few years back. We live in Columbus, so we have to plan our Reds trips. Now she's always asking when we're going back and even will watch the Reds game on TV or listen in the car. One big thing that helps with the Reds is that they have great radio and TV announcers.

Anyway, great to see you getting out to the 'Ole Ball Game -- even if you're wearing the wrong hat ;-)

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

EDH, I don't understand what you're saying.

Do you mean if there are going to be so few seats, the structure ought to be pulled in to feel more intimate?

If so, I agree. Also, why close the roof on a clear night when it's 58 degrees. I wanted the outdoor feeling.

But as for how can the people watch it... they sure do. That place fills up and the people stay to the end and there's a nice party atmosphere, including lots of young people.

They get the crowd dancing, creating much fun through surprising people by showing them on the monitor, having the sausage race, etc.

নামহীন বলেছেন...

Glad to see at least one of you wore the correct cap! The last time I went to a baseball game it was in the days before all the hoopla and sausage races. It was so boring to me I never went to another game, it sounds like I should try again.

নামহীন বলেছেন...

And good grief! Why would anyone eat a hotdog when one can get a sausage?! This is Milwaukee!

MadisonMan বলেছেন...

Didn't even eat a brat!? Wow.

I know they cost the Earth at Miller Park but still!

Ctmom4 বলেছেন...

Did he buy you some peanuts and crackerjack? Do they sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame there? It's my favorite. My boys and I used to bellow that out in the car on long trips. I love the sausage races- hope to see them in person some day. And the presidents at the Nationals park. I'll root for Teddy.

We ate Cincinnati style chili before leaving for the game.

Didn't work.

Next time we'll try the brats.

Some serious tailgating goes on at Miller Park.

I took my Minnesota friends there once to watch the Brewers crush the Twins.

The people next to us in the parking lot were playing Jenga in the back of a pickup truck...using two-by-fours.

And they made margaritas using a blender powered by a chain saw motor.

My friends were in awe. Apparently such high level tailgating doesn't happen in Minnesota.
